The thing is that John didn't want to be alive anymore. Obviously he knew he could have left out of the barn and gotten away, but at that moment (when he looked outside) he realized he couldn't run forever and put that burden on his family. He sacrificed himself by walking out of that barn down 20 to 1 so he could finally die and his wife and son could live their lives without being forever hounded by the government. THAT was John's redemption, and IMO what the title of the game references.
Why do want him to survive? The whole point of the story is about former outlaws facing up to what they've done. You can't have people dealing death but not taking it themselves. I refer you to Budd Cowboy from Kill Bill -- a true son-of-a-bitch, but he was wise enough to know, 'That woman deserves her revenge, and we deserve to die'.

2 things are wrong about this one 3 years or so after John marston died Abigail died and 2 don't you think that Edgar would find out? I mean he works for the government

Yeah, but RDR could easily have a sequel... I think one guy mentioned "Red Dead Revenge" could be a possible name for it. But even then, when a sequel finally rolls around, I'm almost positive it'll either be based around Jack or some other new character.

what happens is that the army kill john in the end of the game and then he comes back in undead nightmare, but that isnt cannon, but could as well be as john could then be killed after undead nightmare prior to the normal ending then he could be resurrected several years later prior to undead nightmares ending, so he could possibly survive

I don't think you can. When you make your last stand, you automatically pull out the Cattleman Revolver, which leads me to believe taht it's the only thing you can use. Damn though, good fucking game.

.my ending would be that while they are fighting the government abigail opens the door and gets shot jack runs to her and he gets shot .uncle holds john back so he doesnt get shot.while john is crying and swearing ross calls john and john an uncle get up into dead eye you shoot ross and a few others.at the end john and uncle digs the graves then some music plays and the camera faces the sky and then the logo comes up

SPOILER: John dies at the end of undead nightmare. He is buried with holy water and is resurrected when Seth starts the plague again. The holy item let him retain his human personality. Basically, he becomes a human with an undead body.
John is dead. He died to protect his family. Besides *SPOILERS* there is a stranger mission as Jack in which you kill Edgar Ross*SPOILERS OVER*. Let John rest in peace, and leave this shitty theory behind. The guy, who is meant to be God I believe, wouldn't resurrect John "because he liked him".
I like the idea, but it needs more subtly. A ghost magically bringing John back to life after he was gang raped by the army because he just happens to like him. If the ghost knows whats going to happen to John then why doesn't he at least try to warn him that he is going to die. If the ghost felt so much compassion for John then why did he let him die? Because it was supposed to happen. Because of Johns death, his son must live a life without his father making him bitter, setting the plot...

The barn in witch we has his final showdown with the army has a door right beside the large door. He could have easily thrown dynamite threw this door killing all these soldiers. Then he could rendezvous back with his family and head to Mexico. Thus escaping the law. But with Undead Nightmare which I am getting today this may have a different ending in which John Marston survives.

Because Rockstar went with the Downer Ending to add a Player Punch, meaning if the game ended with John surviving, it wouldn't give the player any emotional motivation to kill Edgar Ross. Many of Jack's gameplay quotes indicate his life is pretty hollow. On top of that, no one other than Jack will ever know the truth about John Marston's redemption and Ross's betrayals. Not only that, but, in the end, the act of vengeance shows that Jack became exactly the man John didn't wanted him to become.
True on what you are saying, but why not just kill off Jack? John is way better, that would give the player just as much enthusiasm to kill Edgar Ross.
Or even if John saw Edgar Ross shoot Uncle(Red Harlow) in the head or something, that would still be enough, even Drew MacFarlane!

what happens is that the army kill john in the end of the game and then he comes back in undead nightmare, but that isnt cannon, but could as well be as john could then be killed after undead nightmare prior to the normal ending then he could be resurrected several years later prior to undead nightmares ending, so he could possibly survive

He's pretty dead.

I don't think you can. When you make your last stand, you automatically pull out the Cattleman Revolver, which leads me to believe taht it's the only thing you can use. Damn though, good fucking game.

.my ending would be that while they are fighting the government abigail opens the door and gets shot jack runs to her and he gets shot .uncle holds john back so he doesnt get shot.while john is crying and swearing ross calls john and john an uncle get up into dead eye you shoot ross and a few others.at the end john and uncle digs the graves then some music plays and the camera faces the sky and then the logo comes up

I have better theory, John deals with Ross who gave his people fake gun and when they shot John there was just fake blood.everybody thinks John's dead but he's alive and he lives alone because he doesn't want to put his family in danger and that's why there's a grave of his:) to make his family and the others believe he's dead.sorry but for me it's possible i saw something like that in the movie:)

SPOILER: John dies at the end of undead nightmare. He is buried with holy water and is resurrected when Seth starts the plague again. The holy item let him retain his human personality. Basically, he becomes a human with an undead body.

I like the idea, but it needs more subtly. A ghost magically bringing John back to life after he was gang raped by the army because he just happens to like him. If the ghost knows whats going to happen to John then why doesn't he at least try to warn him that he is going to die. If the ghost felt so much compassion for John then why did he let him die? Because it was supposed to happen. Because of Johns death, his son must live a life without his father making him bitter, setting the plot...

The barn in witch we has his final showdown with the army has a door right beside the large door. He could have easily thrown dynamite threw this door killing all these soldiers. Then he could rendezvous back with his family and head to Mexico. Thus escaping the law. But with Undead Nightmare which I am getting today this may have a different ending in which John Marston survives.

Because Rockstar went with the Downer Ending to add a Player Punch, meaning if the game ended with John surviving, it wouldn't give the player any emotional motivation to kill Edgar Ross. Many of Jack's gameplay quotes indicate his life is pretty hollow. On top of that, no one other than Jack will ever know the truth about John Marston's redemption and Ross's betrayals. Not only that, but, in the end, the act of vengeance shows that Jack became exactly the man John didn't wanted him to become.
