It took about 4 or 5 weekends and one solid week to build.
If youre taking the wife and one kid then 16 foot would be a good length and weight.
18 foot seems huge on the car and on the river. Im generally the aircraft carrier of the group. But I can lug it around myself with only a minor hernia and i can get 2 kids, wife and even a couple of other adults on board. Paddles like a dream. Id recommend Selway Fisher all the way.

Did it take long to build?
I like the look of the S-F Waterman 16 for sailing, but this looks a little less complicated/lighter/etc. Thanks.
