I'd like to point out that Hallelujah was originally written by Leonard Cohen and has about two more verses in the original version. Jeff Buckley is really doing something more like a cover of a cover, because he's working off of John Cale's cover of the original. And the original will break your heart.

My Immortal makes me so sad, but I agree that Hello is also extremely sad :) But My saddest song is probably Cancer by My Chemical Romance, which affects me because my Mum has breast cancer... but I can't stop listening to it even though every time I do I cry... :(

These are sad break up tunes, but for me two of the saddest songs I ever head are a traditional song called "the band played waltzing matilda" and "down there by the train" by Tom Waits. The first is a soldier's tune which hits home for me. The second is a soul ripping tune about folks like me who have done terrible things in their lives. I hope there's a train waiting for me when it's all over. Give them a listen if you've never head them.

I lack a proper way to explain this, but long story short it sums up endless feeling of anxiety and suffering for people such as myself. Also, a song I think could have been on here was I'm With You by Avril Lavigne (Before her crappy pop-music conversion...)

@irishbadass222 Yeah, I guess the lyrics are a little sad, but if you didnt listen to the lyrics of it and just paid attention to the instrumental part it wouldnt sound sad at all. Songs like My Immortal by Evanescence are songs that sound sad no matter what. Thats why I wouldn't put it in my top ten but I love that song :) Iris is one of my favorites of all time :) I like I'm With You too...her first album was really good.
