  • the 10 noobs that dont like this, could play this music in their dreams.

  • @GTFelver

I know what I'm saying about Buddy Rich, and everything I said was the truth. Buddy did not know how to read music.

  • I should go to band camp.

  • oooo those triplets were sexy

  • What grade is the piece?

  • My quartet played this and I love it. :D My favorite movement too. lol

  • Love it!

  • Love it!

  • Love it!

  • like the solo at 0:40

  • This is probably my favorite section of Diffusion (tenor)...

  • Awesome performance! No wonder that stage looked familiar, I have performed on there numerous times for jazz and concert.

  • this is truly well executed..... props to the soprano, Nice tone out of that, rare.

  • that's UNREAL! but HIPHOP?

  • STFU whippersnapper

  • w.o.w.

  • Good playing but what's up with the echoey cafeteria sound? Ouch! Fill an auditorium and no more echo...not exactly rocket science guys...

  • sounds awesome

  • what's the song called please? :)

  • There's not really actual titles to hip-hop songs, they are just a repeating beat and kind if non-melody song. y.a.w.n.

  • the theater was full

  • So good...very entertaining !!

  • Lots of fun to listen to!

  • I think there's 5 people there; there's a guy behind the soprano sax girl. What do you guys think?

  • the drummer doesn't count:)

  • I think you meant "The drummer can't count." I agree!

  • there is a soprano player behind the tenor to make the quartet

  • Buddy rich couldn't read a note of music, or even count. But he knew how to play. If you don't know who he is, you shouldn't be talking.

  • I leave counting to the mathematicians. I helped film a concert of Buddy Rich, what a monster of talent!

  • You might want to know what you are saying about Buddy rich before you start talking...

  • aww damn, this is off the hook!!

  • best sounding sax recording on youtube

  • DAMN!!!! your coolness just emanates. LOVE it.

  • nuthin against trumpets but don't be comin up and just say stuff like that ........all..well, most intruments have something awesome about them

  • It's a little slower than usual but it was very good!

  • Thank you!

  • not a quartet or a sax quintet w/ a drumset for one...

    but gj

  • Yay! Diffusion for Sax Quartet by Goodwin!

  • What grade are these musicians? (:

  • High school I think most were summer before 11th grade at the time

  • All are high school level. I believe at the time for me (the tenor player), the alto player, and soprano it was the summer before junior year. For the bari player I think he was either going into his soph year

  • no comment gj

  • TENOR SAXES STAND UP!

  • whats the name of this song?

  • Diffusion for Saxophone Quartet, by Gordon Goodwin. This is only the fourth movement.

  • thanx a lot

  • are the solos improvised?

  • Yes, the alto and soprano solos were improvised

  • More jazzy to me. but it was still very good!

  • amazing, BRAVO!!!

  • damn i miss playing, its been almost 10 years since i last played. i miss the beri, that was always my favorite to play

  • soprano is good. but still, theyre all KICK ASS

  • LOVE IT! Wow I miss my tenor.

  • I admire the tenor saxaphone's smooth sound, it's not an easy thing to accomplish

  • Thank you very much! I'm actually an alto player and picked up tenor for this summer camp sax quartet. It was a challenge for me to work up my embouchure and tone for this so I'm glad you appreciate it!

  • it dosent really sound like hip hop, and way....way....way...way better than anything a black or white rapper and or singer can lunge off his tounge

  • id luv 2 play one of those

  • very cool loved it!

  • you're gay.

  • ooooo my god thank u, sum1 besides me thinks that!!!

  • that was really really great, I'm a freshman in college and was told i would be part of a sax quartet next sememster and i'm pretty excited.

what mouthpiece and reed is the alto player playing on?

  • selmer c*, vandoren 3 1/2 traditional reeds.

  • It's the name of the 4th movement of the song "Hip Hop"!

  • Love the song! Love the alto player!

  • So goood!!!

  • awesome!

  • This is really good! I play the alto sax ;) It's really awesome once you learn it.

  • da beat is amazing. Now imagine this.. Just imagine that music with a rapper. Anyone feelin me?

  • Way to go LUCAS! so so pro on that alto sax :)

  • woah there's a bass sax in one of the songs?? Is it posted somewhere????

  • The song with the bass sax isn't up, I believe. But I'll see if I can dig it up and post it :)

  • Well if you were a tenor sax player you'd know that was a BARI sax you idiot. I play tenor.

  • Actually the TENOR is playing the part at the beginning. Normally she plays alto, but for this camp's ensemble group they needed a Tenor, so she played Tenor...she also had the pleasure of playing a BASS Sax for another song.

  • I would kill someone to play a bass sax. They sound so amazing. btw nice job with this. It sounds awesome. (I dunno if you're one of the ones in there or not)

  • um it is a BARITONE sax srrz not a bass but yes it does sound good.

  • Thank you very much! It was quite fun playing with these people.

  • I Love The Beginning Part. The Tenor Sax Solo. I Play The Tenor Sax By The Way. ;D

  • haha the guy on soprano looks like me!

  • y r u guys sittin down? u gotta stand up and get into it lol

  • GREAT

  • wow. my quartet couldn't pull this off. u guys actually pulled it off well. congrats

i love the soprano improv. sounds sweeet

  • Thanks and good luck with your Quartet!

  • SEARCH SAXOPHOBIA -------> DIFFUSION ->>>>>

    Much better than this .

  • This was at Summer Camp, so the quartet had been playing with each other for only five days. Not sure how many of the days they had the music. Sorry you didn't like it, but I thought it was good for the amount of time they had.

I wasn't able to find the post you referenced. Although under Saxophobia I did find some very talented individuals.

  • great? its sucks they play it way too fast and ruin the whole piece

  • Great Performance ! Love it. Great soprano solo. You folks are all first class musicians. Drummer is PERFECT...does not over play the volume of the group, it's called TASTE. Don't listen to the amateur-dickhead-disparaging-comments below, they are looking for something they will never achieve. WHO IS THE COMPOSER-ARRANGER ? Let's give some credit where credit is DUE ! 5*

  • gordon goodwin is the composer

  • tone quality in the individual instrument was bad

good intonation and feel(but you owe the drummer for the feel)

    solos were lame

    but good for beginners

  • Amazing job! Wow, so far I've seen the first and now the fourth movement for this. the first movement is so different! So are there any improv solos in this or all of these solos written out? After listening to both movements I'm really starting to think we can't do it...where did you get the sheet music for this?

  • The solos by the alto and the soprano are improvised. And I'm sure you can find this piece at jwpepper

  • oh my goodness, hip hop should not be mentioned in this title, in fact this should be memorized, and play with some sack. damn. come on drummaa!!! lets not be that white...man....

  • the best drummers ever were all white.

  • yeah I know, also some of the worst.. I meant more of the feel, really generic..they play well, but generic.

  • I don't know about that maybe some of the best drummers were white, but whatever. I know there's a director that teaches a a school in my district that's the coldest I've ever heard on a drum solo. I haven't heard everyone though, so yeah...

  • very cool =]

  • Lucas is my nephew! What a talent!

  • what a great sound!!

  • Would you happen to know where I could find the sheet music for this? If I ever have a sax quartet, I would want to do this song.

  • You could always check jwpepper. they always seem to have everything

  • I feel sorry for the drummer. They turned him into a glorified metronome. Let that cat swing, man!

  • Was your daughter a CIT at band camp? I could have sworn that I recognize her...

  • This was her first time going to Stanislaus Band Camp, but has been to Silver Lake Band Camp for the last five years and was a CIT there last year. She will be going back to Silver Lake as a Counselor this next summer.

  • I remember her! I was there too- she won the big scholarship. I sat next to her once in jazz. She could sight read like nothing else!! I was so jealous!

  • Aww thanks for remembering me!

  • bit too slow =p

  • i agree but it

    also needs more dynamic contrast

  • not bad at all

  • this is real impressive.

  • your very good all, but its VERYYY SLOW !!!!

  • What song is this?

  • It is called "Diffusion for Saxophone Quartet" and was the fourth movement "IV. Hip Hop" by Gordon Goodwin (b1955).

  • Nice feel, but in this style piece the soprano player needs to aim for more of a rich sax sound instead of the brassy clarinet sound he is getting. Other than that very nice

  • This isn't a must. I think he can sound like whatever he want. He is the musician, that sax is just a tool.

  • Loved it! And.... YAAAAAYYYY.... a girl sax player!

    Well done.

  • Sound about right!

  • we have a female alto player in my band. She sits next to me. It really is too bad she's a terrible player...

  • AWSOME:D

  • i just got my daughter (who is 11) a saxaphone today and she loves it!!!

  • Call it what it is!

    Diffusion for Saxophone quartet

    IV Movement Hip-Hop

Very good but there is no drum part written

  • woooo this is just groovin im lovin it

  • Yay for Summer music at stanislaus! Lets just say this was the only piece I didn't sleep through that concert.. ugh it was so long.

  • yay Lucas!!!

  • Nice job:D Strange how good people can be after a couple of days playing together on a band camp. I should know, I've been at one myself 3 years in a row now, the summer isn't complete without it!;)

  • Thats my son Lucas on the alto. Boy can they play!!

  • Yes they sure can-and he is GREAT! Very enjoyable to listen to! My daughter usually plays Alto, but since they already had Lucas playing with his greatness at band camp, they asked her to play Tenor-haha. Glad they still wanted her!

  • That's my daughter on tenor....sure makes a mom PROUD!

  • You SHOULD be proud. Tell her I said WELL DONE!

  • I sure will-and thank you for watching! She normally plays Alto, but was asked to play Tenor, so that was an extra treat watching her play her dad's tenor...she also plays Trombone and Sousaphone in marching band. From your screenname, you must play too, and i am assuming a girl, so keep it up!

  • I'm 14 and play alto sax and clarinet in Deer Valley High School's Performance Jazz Ensemble. Check out my channel if you're interested.
