Been there and saw that tree again. It's amazing. You can only truly appreciate the tree's height in Dec. through March when a clear view of it is available. I wouldn't be surprised if taller trees exist in Forest park though. Only aerial based LIDAR could tell us.
This is the tallest tree in Forest Park, and all of Portland--and is the tallest urban tree in any major American city. It is 6 feet wide and 242 feet tall.
