  • Makes me want to sleep...

  • Steve jobs

  • hmpf.

  • 1984. HOLY SHIT.

  • @eshtebala John lettaease was taught by some of the original Disney 2d animators. He helped with this project. It's why it has Disney inspiration to it.

  • André Sounds Like Donald Duck!

  • Why the bee dont die?

    Porque la abeja no murio?

  • If I recall correctly, this was the first computer animation to feature motion blur. Considering it's a quarter century old, it looks amazing.

  • rendering must have been a bitch

  • wtf is this!

  • The animation is very good for it's day! An incredible frontier to animation but the story is no where near as good as todays standards or even their second Luxo Jr. =p

  • @eshtebala Animated characters very famously use cartoon gloves see Bugs bunny etc. It's an animated tradition =)

  • 1984? Holy shit.

  • funnyjunk

  • Man those graphics are better than CoD. Everyone knows CoD is on the cutting edge of computer graphics.

  • @omgshrimpz BF3, crysis.

  • WTF did I just watch

  • first pixar movie!

  • omfg my real name is andre and my middle name is wally but my last is wallace

  • @morganjune96

    Andre Wally Wallace?

  • What Pixar could do in 1984, I wouldn't be able to do now. Wow.

  • If you look at the descrption, the catagory for this is auto & vehicles :D

  • That's pretty amazing. 1984, barely any CG movies were made. Hell, I don't even think people were doing CG. Pixar was probably the only company tinkering around with TRUE 3D CG animation. Sure, nowadays you can download a program for free and make something better than this, but back in 1984, computers were just born.

  • @TheBadShaman Tron was the first movie to use CGI, if I'm correct, and that's where it all began. Technically, this isn't Pixar yet, but the company eventually becomes Pixar in 1986.

  • @Scouty208 It wasn't. In 1973, Michael Crichton directed the first movie to use CGI. "Westworld". In 1976, "Futureworld" was released with a 3D rendering of hand and face.

  • Wow.

  • This looks like something me and my friend could do in Animation Class. Lol

  • @lxa9466

Do that in 1984 then i'd be impressed

  • Well, WOW. This is OLD. 1984?! And this awesome?! This is just.. wow. Awesome for 1984! :D

  • @poppybasers Have you ever seen the mickey mouse films? they're older and in my opinion they're better.

  • @scorpida900 Yeah, but this is 3d.

  • @scorpida900 Well, yeah. But you're comparing "not the first animated cartoon ever" with "first CGI animated cartoon ever." Different things entirely.

Is Snow White as good as Toy Story?

  • Первый мультик Pixar Приключения Андре и пчёлки Уолли / The Adventures of André and Wally B. (1984, Lucasfilm, ещё до создания Pixar)

  • How long did it take them to render it O.O

  • @Astrapogiannos14 Ill just say, it got to be originally made in 1975.

  • amazing to think that this is almost two decades old, and its still better then a good portion of 3D Animations made now.

  • @cuboos Case in point: Jay Jay the Jet Plane.

  • @HarvestmanMan oh god don't get me started on Jay Jay...

  • @cuboos I know, right? I think the majority of the animation on that show was done on a Sinclair...

  • @HarvestmanMan the animation for Money for Nothing is better then jay jay the fucking jet plane...

  • Only about 80 seconds of animation. These days, the Pixar shorts are a little longer (yes, I know, it wasn't called Pixar back then).

  • Andre reminds me of the fly from Rescue Rangers.

  • Pretty impressive for 1984

  • Raymann?

  • at 0:48 the bee smiles funny

  • I always thought Luxo Jr was the first Pixar film.

  • Comment removed

  • @dapperfan44 They weren't called 'Pixar' at this time, so Luxo Jr was the first 'official' Pixar short; but this one came first.

  • Where have I seen thisbefore?

  • Omg it was only 1984..... O.O!!!

  • 1984 waoooooo is hard to velive..

  • 1984. 1984. oh my god it looks so like crappy, like you know, the good way, like i don't know i can't explain it. but its awesome. this was way before maya... they had to use computers that would take them days to render properly... this is awesome

  • I can't believe this was made in 1984, it must have taken days to render...

  • 84! Orca loca!

  • 1984??????????

    not really......???????

  • @Funmichi yeah

  • cute

  • The Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Projekt became Pixar one year later (or two - I don't know it exactly) and was bought by Steve Jobs... so it's a quasi-precursor-to-pixar-film ;'D

@MysticArksRevenge: wtf? how do you mean that? IMO those at pixar are heroes! compare their movies with those of other studios and recent 2D Animations - pixar is the studio that brings on quality to animation again (especially in storytelling, etc. - look at the cheap stories of the shrek-series)

  • Amazing stuff. But this isn't Pixar. It's Lucasfilms...

  • Wow! With all that possible in 1984, why weren't they able to make graphically more advanced computer games?

  • Well,there is diffrence.

When you play, you graphic card renders image as much as time mossible(frame rate).

Back then many computers didnt have graphic card at all.Even today, its dificult to render movies, not mentioning games in movie quality. And also remember, that they used super computer do render this, and not normal pc.

  • @RottenRroses This was quite a groundbreaking animation, it would take alot of effort to put his in a video game back in 1984!

  • Pixar's first short.

  • Pixar first began in 1979 as a company called Graphics Group which was owned by George Lucas (creator of Star Wars) and in 1986 Steve Jobs bought the Graphics Group to the Lucasfilm Computer Division (from Lucasfilm) and then Pixar was founded.

  • This was on a vhs once unrelated to pixars tiny toy stories. it was imaginarium or something like that. anybody know what i am talking about or what it is actually called?

  • i've never ever believe tat it was made in 84 ))) but still i know that. i wonder what kind of computers they used.

  • Cray X-MP/48 supercomputer and ten VAX-11/750 superminicomputers

  • Pixar's sure come a long way...

  • People of Earth, I give you...THE COMPUTER ANIMATED SHORT SUBJECT!

  • the is another appearance of andre is in red's dream in the clock a picture of him is seen

  • 11 before TS(1995)

  • This film was mostly (if not totally) made by the guys who run Pixar now. They worked for Lucasfilm back in the 80s, before they branched off.

  • This was actually completed by Lucas employees, computer programmers and artists like John Lasseter, that made this for SIGGRAPH in the early 80's. It was to persuade Lucas the potential for 3-D graphics for movies, which Lucas in turn was apathetic towards.

  • So this means that John Lasseter is the man responsible for creating 3D cartoons?

  • You could say that. If you mentioned Ed Catmull and Smith, then you'd be even more right. :)

  • Do Ed Catmull and Smith work at Pixar, or were they the ones that worked at Lucasfilm that suggested that Lasseter should start creating 3D cartoons? Because thanks to John Lasseter, Ed Catmull, and Smith, they literally ruined the animation industry in my opinion.

  • 0:59 :D

  • Behold.

  • lol and i thought Toy story looked amazing for its time...1984! hot damn that looks amazing.

  • that almost looks like a jewish hat

    (forgive my ignorance)

  • Okay so when I was little I had a VHS that had this animation short and a bunch of others that were the same, but I dont remember what the tape was called...anyone know?

  • it is called tiny toy stories

  • Realy gud 4 th year th 1s in th film tron wer shit in comparison

  • use complete words

  • il speak how i want 2 thnk u. its easier that way

  • they should make the adventures of andre and wally b a tv series and a movie

  • So this came before Luxo Jr.? My history teacher told me Luxo was groundbreaking.....

  • That was great! Im so glad lasseter's in charge now at disney!

  • is this the full version?

  • he sounds like donald duck

  • He actually sounds a lot more like the Duck-man from Toy Story.

  • yes,indeed!!!

  • Andre sorta sounds like Donald Duck

  • @sammmy137 yup he does sound like donald.

  • @sammmy137 you mean dinald dick???

  • Wow, even their 1st film looks incredible. And it just got better from there!

  • @stevenimation It doesn't look incredible. It looks incredawetastic.
