@maxxb77 The Polar Bear Plunge is a tradition in Minnesota to raise money for the special olympics, so what he did is nowhere near moronic. In fact I enjoy how down to earth he is. Not only is he helping raise money for a great cause, but he's doing everything he can to get Duluth noticed on Google's radar. I'm a regular at the PBP, and it was a riot to see our mayor there too

@Whazel still... couldn't he have spent his time raising more money in a more thoughtful manner for both causes? i mean i'm all for raising money to help the special olympics but the cause shouldn't justify the means... maybe you should replace fiber networks with special olympics in my original post and see if it still fits... i support both causes completely but this really isn't the best way to represent your community... any outsider probably lost a fair amount of respect for duluth's mayor

The Mayor is jumping to get Google Fiber in town. The organization that helps put on this event gets little support from the City of Duluth for this event. Simple fact is that he was trying to be a cool guy to get a big business into town and used Special Olympics. Not so cool.
