if it's any consolation... the next day I tried it on a harder surface without any warm up or anything, and... popped out both of my shoulders :S (they have a tendency to do that though... and hurt for a week... :S)
if you can do a back handspring.. it's.. pretty muuch the same thing.. only.. let your legs drag as oppose to trying to get them around..
my shoulders dislocate pretty easily, so unless you have the pre-existing... condition, i don't think you'll have much to worry about. That being said, you should still have really good back handsprings. then you just modify how you do your backhandspring.. by making it go a touch longer( so your legs don't come around) or by not putting as much "kick" from your legs.
this is a Back Handspring to handstand not a backflip..

can you do back flip to kip up?
Instead of going into the handstand, you collapse/bend your arms when you jump backs, so your shoulders touch the ground, then kip back up.
