  • Helmut Newton was ahead of his time even with the selection of his music. He used this one for his documentary • Helmut Newton - Mein Leben [My Life] back in 2000

  • There should be a Grammy award for "Most Outstanding First Track from a Debut Album, Ever." On the other hand, it would be a foregone conclusion.

  • "......why can't this be killing you

    Frankenstein would want your mind...."

  • I prefer the other video where she repeatedly hugs a tree and then kicks it. That was an absolutely seminal idea which totally encapsulated the song's meaning. This video is very pretty, but formulaic. Beautiful song though. That little gasp near the end just slays me every time, my whole body shivers.

  • @RicardoDeForceTV .................. Funny we prefer the different videos, i like this one as its so dreamy and etherial , seeing her huggung trees and beating up a chair take away the beauty of the music for me, it's just our own choice I know, but I guess both do different things for different people ........ I agree about it making my spine shiver, I love it ... Ricardo, eres espanol?

  • Makes me think about my mortality and life...... creates many feelings in me ..... so so moving and beautiful x

  • Patches of clouds in the sky at sunset while it is raining and, perhaps, behind, between the rays of the sun, there's God.

  • I adore Alison Goldfrap, she's a Goddess and as beautiful as a young Queen Elizabeth.

  • love it, makes my spine chill up and down xx

  • why she never did a bond song, is beyond me...

  • This is a Theremin

  • First album, first song. What an incredible way to announce yourself to the world.

  • people who don't appreciated goldfrapp don't like music

  • This song---not unlike most of theFELT MOUNTAIN release----is a tribute to the stylisms of Miss Shirley Bassey (a powerful influence on Alison's career since its inception).Verisimilitude to Bond's GOLDFINGER thus derives from this credit:Bassey performed that music score.

  • four people have been spitroasting a hooker with your dad

  • she is a angel with her voice:)))))

  • Just wait till Tarantino gets an ear on this...

  • beautiful song.

  • MAGICAL AND INTOXICATING SONG.......

  • 3 idiots don't love this song: it's true, the world is a place for any species...

  • 1:16 = goosebumps 4ever.

  • so james bond'ish !!

    amazing

  • The whistling reminds me of an old spaghetti western.

  • @SuperLollylegs i can just picture john wayne :-) and i found this song on accident lol

  • It's not the voice through a synthesizer filter.........It's a THEREMIN.......See Wikipedia...

  • @GOTTAHELLA It sounds like it could be a Haaken Continuum, or a theremin.

  • CHECK OUT THE REALLY WEIRD BIG BABY VERSION OF LOVELY HEAD ON YOU TUBE ( FEATURING A GIANT BABY`S HEAD BEING TRANSPORTED IN A WHEEL BARROW)

  • This song needs to be used as a Bond theme. NOW.

  • Putting the voice through a synthesizer filter, amazing!

  • Very John Barry-esque.

  • Oddly enough, I believe this would have made a good James Bond theme song.

  • @MissSKG - It's very similar to Garbage's The World Is Not Enough. Maybe that's what you are thinking of.

  • @MissSKG I've been saying that since I first heard it. It'd be perfect, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. :-)

  • Spanish: Es como una droga esta cancion no me la puedo quitar de la cabeza esque la escuchas y pegas un viaje por tu cabeza!!

English: It's like a drug, is a song that I can not get out of my head, you listen it and you have a journey through your head!

My english is very bad!! :(

  • perfect.

  • sensual to its bottom

  • here is an exemple how every songs shoud be, like a drug.

  • This song is going into every part of me since a while...I can not control it...it takes me back to the past and in the same time propel me to a great and audacious future...

  • I love the way this song puts you into some kind of trance.

  • How did we go from this 'art' to Lady Gag? ~shakes head in disbelief~

  • This looks like an homage to a particular older cinematic style, but I don't know which one.

  • I love it when she says belly xD

  • una droga para los oidos...

  • better van version 1

  • one of the best albums ever.

If you like this, check out our channel as well...

  • I don't know if this a compliment, but when I heard this song I thought it was a James Bond movie's theme at the beginning

  • This song sounds like "Unsolved Mysteries" dont you think?

  • After watching "My Summer of Love" i loved this song!!

Just realised wot it is by chance - love it

Don't care about the subject matter

  • I am a chick and if this song is about that, I certainly don't mind

  • This song is about the tip of a man's penis....wake up and smell the roses....it is a great song, for once, someone is not being anti male is this day and age of men-hating women....

  • i think you can't tell what is this song about, it is more like a very introspective abstraction, this lyrics are very personal, so it is more poetical than explainatorial, but certanly it is a beautiful song.

  • @madrereus16

It is about the agony of unrequited love.

  • new age

  • What is the meaning of the song?

  • LSD MAN,

  • There is a sense of claustrophobia, isolation, dissatisfaction, possibly dissatisfaction with the self, and distand admiration ( your lovely head). In staight-forward love-songs, the narrator ussually talk about the beloved's eyes or face, unsuitable for a love discourse. And the reference to Frankenstein means the creation of superior human.

  • Thank you Lyarchik !!!!! Nice answer !!!!!!!!

  • broken heart. She probably was left by her boyfriend and these are symptoms of depression and hate

  • saw this by chance about 1am on mtv and was amazed by the romance of this, the nature shown. very beautiful, romantic and stirring. got the album next day. they went abit silly after this but i heard the new album was good.

  • Her lovely voice is like a gentle massage to my aching body. Sultry.

  • Solo una parola:

    STUPENDA

  • the whistling is so eerie.

  • this song makes me daydream

  • @cristinaronson bc i can daydream i think this is my new favorite song....its so james bondy

  • d'une sensualité folle

  • we had to think of how to "perform" this song in drama. we did a woman cheating on her husband, the friends seeing and ringing the husband, who then kills everyone...

  • You should have went with a man coming home to his wife after an unexplained absence and explaining his late arrival using plot lines stolen from popular films and songs! lol.

  • Fucking Brilliant!!

  • SEXY MAFFIA..JEEJJ

  • one of the best songs of the century goldfrapp always exibit genius in their songs, this is the best example, it is near perfect.

  • what would you change to make it purrfec?

  • i would make it longer, just so there is more of it. also nothing is ever perfect its surely an impossible thing to find, but if you found an example of perfection i would like to see.

  • Id make them portishead.

  • wonderful, sensual, scary song. great!

  • Artful music like this stimulates my brain but the moment I hear a Pussycat Dolls song on the radio or TV, I get an instant impulse to take a big dump!

I think music that only requires an intellectual capacity of a donkey to appreciate (Pussycat Dolls) should not be allowed to exist next to real intelligent creative music like Goldfrapp.

  • they are those american lasses? the ones with a dance routine?

  • perfect song...

  • funny to see clouds, first time i heard this song i had the feeling of being under water...

And more a 60's James Bond background than National Geo.

  • Je peux pas l'expliquer, mais depuis que je suis petite, cette chanson m'a toujours fait peur --"

Mais elle est jolie sinon...Mais elle me fait peur --"

  • you mean MTV played this? MTV played something stylish, intelligent, meaningful and sensual? i'm truly surprised.

  • i 1st heard this on mtv about 1 in morning on mtv and id never heard of goldfrapp but i loved the video and got felt mountain next day, i like the album very much, its great, i didnt like them much after that though - then the other day someone said same thing to me - so it wasnt just me. But I hear the new album is good

  • A lush, erotic, haunting, and wholly narcotic song

  • @lfleurs awesome definition for this song

  • @lfleurs ...... I love your description, perfectly said i think..

  • @lfleurs Yes, the words you've chosen to describe this song hit the mark. I love both this song and Utopia, they're equally haunting and melancholic, deeply beautiful.

  • i love it both the song and the video.

  • Easy to make good stuff with Morricone samples.

  • What is the relationship between ennio m. and goldfrapp's lovely head??

  • The high pitched melodies in Goldfrapp emulate the whistling of Morricone, however, to suggest that Goldfrapp just play around with samples is ridiculous, insulting and just plain wrong. It's easy for some people to criticise what they don't understand.

  • a song out of the world..

  • Every component in this song is pure magic.

  • I can't explain it, but I just fluxing love this song!
