  • Why the fck are people discussing gods in a video about robots?

  • YEEWWWWW...KILL IT...KILLLL IIIIIIT!

scientists: "You stupid idiotic human being!you just destroyed 100biliard $ project!!"

  • @SamuelDMorgan children belive in santa claus , human believe in God ..... what ? santa claus doesn't exist ? what about god ?

  • Ah yes... "Reapers".... we dismiss your claim.

  • does it learn how to walk, or do you have to program it to walk, with it learning how to avoid obstacles by itself?

  • Well done. I see many great applications for ideas like this.

Nice work, thank you for showing us.

    Nathan

  • God's design is once again proven to be the best possible method.

  • @SamuelDMorgan Tell that to the dodo bird. God doesn't exist.

  • @Tab54o Fool.

  • @Jayslollipop Yes you are, and dont ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • @SamuelDMorgan I'm picturing god and some other dude drunk as piss and just saying "fuck it, we got some shit left over" and then bam, creation of our shit hole planet. Fuck science, right?

  • @suraxis First of all God created science, so using science to judge God makes no sense.

Secondly: When the universe was first created it was not the dark place it is now. When Adam and Eve (humanity) sinned God cursed the world. Ever wonder why God would create weeds, thorns, vicious animals, death death? That was part of the curse. But God didn't leave us here to rot. Look up John 3:16. I'm sure most people have heard this verse a lot but that's one verse that gives hope to humanity.

  • @SamuelDMorgan The bible is THOUSANDS of years old bucko. When's the last time you've heard an update from the man (or woman, cuz, imho, god would be a really cool, really hot chick) upstairs eh? What if *gasp* the stories in the bible are all bullshit, and God is really just a metaphor for moralistic values? I've read the bible (before you go all 'cusatory an such) and it all sounds like a load of shit to me. Just like every other religion. But hey, FUCKING ROBOTS ARE AWESOME!

  • @SamuelDMorgan God doesn't exist , you fucking moron.

  • @SamuelDMorgan when you use evidence from a subject that allready is in question simply makes your argument weaker. It's like going to a courtroom and using a suspect as a defence witness. If you want to convince people about the existance of god stop using passages from the bible as evidence. instead use something that is allready widely accepted. This is a mistake that most religious people do. And this is probably why noone even takes time to listen to what you have to say.

  • To address A previous question: It's not really the same as big dog, big dog uses a neural network based approach that utilises onboard sensors rather than physical trigger switches.

  • it looks like it has parkinson... -.-

  • its only a short distance between mind controlled insectoid robots to the rise of Skynet and the eradication of all mankind!

  • It'll get better in the future but for now it looks like brundle-fly-pod

  • o-o WT F guys pause the video then click and hold on the buffered part of the scrolling thing, and it says "NaN:NaN" ... easter egg????

  • Isn't this the same technology that's in that wardog thing?

  • Wait so this robot uses like Neurologic braincells or something to take some stress off of the processor?

  • 1.25 "damn it im stuck! who the hell is so blind that they are walking me over a gap!" D:

  • 1:12 Vaguely resembles the end of Terminator 1. Hahaha

  • 96 people suffer from arachnophobia.

  • ho!! dear santa...

  • wow hexapods have come a long way since this video...

  • I could just see the 2 legged one at 1:13 in a movie doing the "Kiiiilll mee, KIIIILLLL MEEEeee." part xD

  • A lot of the way bugs and other animals walk is due to form. The leg and foot are stupid in that you can just step on it and it will fall into the proper orientation due to the structure. If they considered the shape of the leg and foot, there wouldn't need to be so much computation to figure out whether it needs to go up or down to step.

  • wow i never knew GLADOS has a brother

  • @GizmoMstr john madden

  • @GizmoMstr All together now: "I'M DOING SCIENCE AND I'M STILL ALIVE!"

  • @GizmoMstr apparently her brother is interested in robots/insects.

  • Did the robot narrate this video itself????

  • awesome

  • cool but you sound like a robot youreslf wich got me realy board

  • How the fuck can anyone "Dislike" this?

  • @jewpiles They were all robots. Not wanting us to know how they work.

  • IDK DOG is still the best one i have seen with the auto balance running to carry stuff.

  • holy hell, did you they use computers and motors from 1984? that robot is moving so fuckin slow. i can build a faster robot out of pieces of scrap that i found out of walmarts dumpsters.

  • @st3von00b Then do it, n00b.

  • @st3von00b Yeah, post your video when you're done with the build. I suspect in about 5 or 6 years when you've finished grade school.

  • @st3von00b It's not about the speed, it's about the fact that it's figuring out how to walk, when to relax and tighten it's 'muscles' by itself through emergent behavior. Anyone can make an automaton, few can make something that replicates life in such a way. Well, ok, not anyone can make an automaton either, that's a skill in it's own right. But you get my point. Which is that you have no idea what you're saying.

  • im more interested in the robot that narrated the vid

  • Such a weird boner right now.

  • I find this hard to masturbate to..

  • still need some more program remodel.....

  • why do i feel bad for these robots

  • Utterly mind blowing.

  • как его шарашит роба наркоман

  • 10 years ago when i was 11 years old, I had a remote control robot dog toy that moved faster than this insectiod.

  • Why doesn't anyone appreciate this for what it really is? Lost in a sea of morons

  • @Daevo69 i completely agree with you on that! thumbs up for your comment :)

  • Maybe it's a sign of advancing age, but when I see something like this, I feel an urge to reach for a rolled up newspaper...

  • Well, the real answer would be area mapping vision, but that's going to be a particularly nasty undertaking in robotic development.

The human brain uses visual input from the eyes to map it's surroundings, using the distance between the eyes to trigonometrically identify distance (same way astronomers do parallaxes, actually) The observed features are then calculated as an infinite series of intersecting planes to generate our perception of a surface. If the robot could do that, we're set.

  • @MichaelCox duel image takes a high end GPU to do and optimizations haven't yet been made.. 20nm APU's are a few years off.. The xbox kinect is a good low cost, low computational alternative.. downgrading the data can get it working on an intel atom

    see

Quadrotor Autonomous Flight and Obstacle Avoidance with Kinect Sensor

  • check also world first, fully autonomous robot on youtube -watch?v=xCb3mmDiSOQ&feature=relmfu

  • robo sapien is more fun! O:

  • GET TO DAH CHOPPA! AHHHHHH! D:

  • 1:20 I think if it could talk it would say KIIIILLL MEEEEE D:

  • Damn, just damn.

  • that robot looke like a retarded cockroach! XD

  • forget the terminator, all the robots are gonna team up and its gonna be just like the matrix. We are gonna be harvest, have the little lump thing on our necks, live in the core of the earth for warmth, and find the Neo to defeat the system SOMEONE FIND NEO AND MAKE THE NEBEKENEZER (apologies for spelling that wrong).

  • "The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy"

  • This guy has a great career ahead of him as The Most Boring Voice In Showbiz.

  • This guy sounds like a cross between the G-man and glados

  • its the feeakin replicators!!!

  • YOU HAVE SELECTED MICROSOFT SAM AS YOUR COMPUTER'S DEFAULT vooooooiice...

  • Lol USA is way behind in Robot Technology. Just saying.

  • THEY'VE MASTERED CRAWLING! WE'RE ALL DOOMED!

  • How would it handle walking over tittertotters (sp?) ? What about on a airmattress floating on a slightly wavy pool?

  • lots of work to go.

  • I would like to use the Arudino platform to build my robot. HOWEVER, given the computational need for the robot, I am wondering if the Arudino chip alone is capable of handiling the task. Fellow arduino tinkers, would the platform be a viable choice? Thanks.

  • I WANT ONE.

  • @emcsnipez lololol

  • One day i believe robots will steal our girlfriends, "once you go bot, you never go 0010101010101010101

  • If only all insects looked and moved like that.

  • I have worked with robots for quite some time as a manufacture and I have reprogrammed them to function better than that. Hell, my 10 and 17 year old sons could do better than that! Makes ya wonder how the hell they found ANYONE to fund their research!?!

  • @jasonstites does yours have a large angle of movement?

  • @jasonstites post a vid or it didnt happen. proof, big guy!

  • @jasonstites Really? Your 10 year old son could design, build, and program a robot that can autonomously detect, calculate, and COMPENSATE (key word) for uneven obstacles? I'd like to see that...

  • @jasonstites you clearly don't comprehend the control system design.

The purpose of this Robot is not to "efficiently accomplish the laid out autonomous track" I can do that myself in 30 minutes with a Lego NXT pack. The point is to accurately capture and emulate the muscular leg/join movement of organisms. You think this is easy? Why do you scientists have been working on Humanoid Robots for decades with only recent breakthroughs in accurate movements (Asimo - Honda). Its difficult.

  • I think the big crap in robots is this the feedback from the control system that is not very well modeled but is a question of time

  • @DvineGaming Robots dont have Cpu processors in general they have microcontrollers that have additional chips to support the sofware they little bit different from normal computers cpu processors

  • @DvineGaming : they have to be programmed to develop or to have self-awareness; it's not like robots just suddenly decide to be self-aware or to think. If that were the case, we'd just let robots do their own thing instead of spending so much time researching AI and developing new algorithms. Even then, we wouldn't make a robot that could decide to be evil. That's sort of a big oversight to make. So, yeah, Terminator is a bit far off.

  • @jaykgrey I know that it has to be programmed into them how ever they then can be programmed to learn, they won't always learn what you want. I'm not saying it will happen I'm saying it can.

  • @DvineGaming : and I'm saying it can't and won't happen. Programming -- *especially* AI -- is a highly logical thing. You can't program something to teach itself to be evil without thinking it through, and if you've thought it through and it's evil, you probably intended for that to happen. I, Robot had a lot of obvious problems with it. Logic wouldn't lead anyone to think "Oh, Humans are destroying themselves, therefore I should terrorize them." No; that's emotion.

  • @jaykgrey I totaly agree, we would have to be even BIGGER idiots than we already are to make such a fatal design flaw that robots would have a sence of hate exclusively towrds humans, nay this would NEVER happen no matter how stupid we are.

  • @Rainbowpuppys : the intelligence required to make AI would imply that, yes. If you're stupid, you can't make AI; if you're smart, the AI won't be evil. xD

  • @Rainbowpuppys

Yeah, and rabbits in Australia, Chernobyl, oil vulcano in the Gulf of Mexico, Anthrax spores from US labs as a terror attack, infecting inmates with syphilis, Gulf War syndrome, nanoparticles of silver damaging water processong plants and the production of unending amouts of highly poisonous waste that will be radioactive for 100000 years and can't be contained wil also NEVER happen - oh, it did...

  • I'm still thinking that we're missing a "tool". Still, don't know if it's Mathematics or lack of good semiconductors...

  • Microsoft Sam evolved!

  • This talking voice makes you listen, :) like it.

  • What's with the volume constantly changing up and down like a rollercoaster?

  • @Uberubert99 Client error.

Not happening to me, there's no problem with the video.

  • skynet

  • Thumbs up if you think this guy sounded like Microsoft Sam!

  • @STDisYum i gave you the 100th thumps up :)

  • aaa

  • it's cool that people learn from laws of nature. Its a bit slow, but cool bug. Give it a few years.

  • lol, seeing the robot that follows light reminds mo of one I built years ago with one circuit board, two light sensitive resistors, two little motors and a few other components.

I'm sure theirs is a lot better, but it's still kinda funny to see their super high tech version and then my little one with two AA batteries ^^

  • IN 20 YEARS THE TERMINATORS WILL BE UPON US!!! GET TO DAH CHOPPA!!!

  • @Gabrielxps No dude, we all know that helicopters will switch sides!!!

  • @Gabrielxps Two totally different movies...

  • @aerowenn that was the point... both are with the Schwarzenegger.

  • @Gabrielxps Huuuu..... Terminators will be our house kepers;

  • @Gabrielxps TERMINATOR JOKES ARE WITTY AND ORIGINAL!!

  • @Lioyd1rving it was a reference to 2 Schwarzenegger movies idiot.

  • @Gabrielxps Is the sky blue, thoughtful and knowledgeable individual?

  • @Gabrielxps Yes and in three days you'll go out and get a life

  • @Ultimauser50 lol says the troll with no reason to comment other than to incite something. go get laid.

  • @Gabrielxps No thanks I have a life unlike you :D

  • @Gabrielxps DAMMIT DAH CHOPPA IS A TERMINATOR!

  • @Gabrielxps why didnt they just use EMP bombs on the terminators? it would have worked

  • @piegavin skynet moved too fast.. :( we were caught unawares.

  • @Gabrielxps wrong movie :P

  • woa

  • you bore me..

  • when front legs swing forward...thebody+back legs were pulled....wrong....

back legs must push the body forward (not remain stack that way)

they must and more bearing joint to perform more smooth motion.

and mid legs were the key to maintain balance of back and front

    Just an opinion.

  • Was that a robot doing the comentry!!

  • This is awesome!

  • just make an AT-AT you retards!

  • I hope one day I'll be working in this field.

  • if we can imagine it , we can eventually build it

  • Littledog is better.

  • I sobie chodzi taki mały robocik

  • STOP STOP NOWW dont u guys watch moveis... lmao watch in like 10 years this robot gonna be shovin rods down our throats

  • cool robot.

but what's up with the narrator, is he flailing his head around as he speaks? or MAYBE he's just having TROUBLE controlling the VOLUME OF HIS VOICE ??!

  • @bv420247

sounds like a very good computer generated voice

I wonder what software they use

  • excellent work

  • **I WOULD HATE TO "RUN INTO" THAT THING 10 YEARS FROM NOW WHEN IT GROWS UP AND GETS SOLD TO THE U.S. GOVERNMENT AS A SECURITY DEVICE...SMILE**

  • narrated by steven hawking

  • This is Brilliant. The problem with a lot of control systems is people go for comlexity and forget the processing power needed. However, I don't understand how this is neurologically based? Do they mean it draws insperation from a neurological system?

This is a great move. Makes you appreciate the complexity of our own bodies. Sub7an Allah :)

  • @MadHatterTruth

Then why are you watching this retard

  • @MadHatterTruth im sorry youre just an idiot who doesnt understand anything, stupid ignorant

  • Using Navier-Stokes equations isn't it possible to create a Hydrostatic Equilibrium to make robots move more fluidly.

  • That thing really looks like an insect when it moves. Very awsome

  • It would be better to give it NON SLIDING leg ends... anyway.

  • @ZZAKON

That's actually part of the design- non-sliding feet require more precision in foot placement, and it trips the robot up.

  • *cute

  • I think is cure, here we have it a baby robot =)

  • 1:19

    father give me legs!!

  • only one in a milion understood how the robot worked...

  • it sounds like steven hawkings is talking

  • 8x faster than its counterpart? damn. Its counterpart must be a rock.

  • (first robot and old man) "get my amber alert im dieing" "robot moving 1 mm per second"

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH A ROACH!!!!

  • during all of those diagrams and stuff, i dont know one word hes saying lol

  • Was that a real voice or synthesized? LOL

  • Intresting , I cannot wait for advanced functions in leg joints and sensors

  • lame

  • looks like a replicator with cable.. look awesome..

  • so, in essence this tries to create robotic reflexes, that mimic living reflexes?

  • reminds me of the matrix. its inevitable.

  • As a computer programmer... Do I need to consider another bug????

  • kool.U say its autonomous. What is its goal then?

  • Very impressive

  • actually i COULD tap dance out of the old womans womb and this is garbage i built a better one out of lego

  • wow!

  • Definitely better space proves to roam the rugged terrain of Mars. I wonder how long before a working version of this will be launched into space.

  • Rise of the machines! :)

  • WOW

  • What year was this robot built? Will the modern robot have an independent power supply?

  • To those who think this robot is 'stupid', 'laggy', or otherwise slow...

    consider this:

It is not like you tap danced right out of your mother's womb.

We have to grow this tech a bit.

  • @MrCristoKelm

i was like stewie out of the womb.

  • @MrCristoKelm xD i don't know why but that analogy is funny

  • @MrCristoKelm

a more correct analogy is that evolution didn't happen in a day, not some wacky dance from birth scenario.

however, progressing technology and evolution are more in line with each other

  • @bangurdead102

So serious and yet so grammatically off. Hate to be nit picky...

Evolution is not an end all theory to everything. The universe winds down while life winds upward into emergent categories. Evolution can be fairly sick trying to explain how Thoughts (memes) evolve. Compared to the things we do not know we are ultimately screwed.

I know nothing. You know nothing. Anything else and I would have to call us a liar.

Like stewie tap dancing out of the womb.

  • @MrCristoKelm

...are you retarded... of course evolution isn't an end all be all

abiogenisis tries to explain the start of cells, big bang goes for how the universe started, the difference between you and me is I know more than you, based on evidence, you can believe but your believes are based on a fictional book character and his miracles instead of the symbolic gestures he does.

I know what I know functions for the limited time I know it, anytime beyond it is pointless so fuck off

  • @MrCristoKelm Give up! Big Dog and Little Dog have already blown this way far away!

  • @MrCristoKelm Win sir!
