I saw this back in '86 or something on M.T.V. hilarious! whenever I'd asked anyoun if they'd seen it, nobody I asked had. I'm glad to find it posted up here. thanks for posting. the young ones stuff as well.
Give me that stage just one more time, the crowd are mad ha ha! Donnington where are you now? Introduced by the legend Tommy Vance (rip), those were the days. Happy times.
Also, my sister went to Donington that year and I remember she said "Bad News were rubbish". The irony of watching a joke metal band at a metal festival was way, way far ahead of its time.
For years I thought Bad News the poor English Spinal Tap. I had no idea until today they did it first, and actually rather well!
Everyone who has played in a band has heard "No, we're NOT playing fackin' Stone 'enge!" r whatever; I reckon Bad News is the new Spinal Tap for those in the know.
1. The end 'hospital' scenes were filmed in Nottingham Queen's Medical Centre (those circular fingerholes in the bedside patient cabinets give it away perfectly).
2. The hotel scenes were filmed in Novotel, Bostocks Ln (which is where Mr Tommy Lee infamously pleasured Bruce Dickinson's girlfriend of the time).
3. Er.. most of the clay pack tracks into Donington (no double 'n', please) entrances to the site are now hardcored.
so damned pleased i got to see bad news 4 times live , hammersmith, reading festival, and twice at the marquee, ive still got both the t shirts from their tours, and badges, At the marquee they had ben elton as the support act, with french and saunders as the groupies on stage, also brian may, lemmy, jeff beck all came out on stage to play with them, fantastic laugh,
french and saunders as school girl groupies, full school girl outfits, didnt take long for the beer to come flying through the air, but Ben Elton as support got those most flak, as soon as he came on stage plastic glasses was flying at him, some half full of beer,, this was at the marquee when in charring cross road, so it held only a small number of punters so it was a tight mosh, very funny, ive had many offers to sell my Bad News t shirts, but i think ill be buried in them
Bad News played most of their album, with a few visual jokes thrown in, such as Den dressing up as a big chicken, But he heard wrong as Beastie boys had a inflatable cock so they wanted to do the same, But den came on as a chicken, Also at Reading fest colin had his leg in plaster was in a wheelchair so he had a wheelchair roadie who pushed him about the stage so colin could pose in a heavy metal style. #
If you aint got the albums they are worth tracking down,
Yes they can actually play the instruments that they all chose to learn and they actually had Brian may tutor them and help them do the queen cover. And they actually went to the monsters of rock back in the day when throwing glass bottles was common practise and sometimes they were full of piss aswell lol.The real crazy thing is that they didnt tell the crowd who they were
Adrian Edmonson is actually a very good Guitarist and I've heard Nigel Planer sing and he's got a very good voice. They purposely played bad in Bad News. Brian May produced the Queen Cover, I'd say he had a great laugh while doing it.
some of us did. The TV series "the comic strip presents" ran "bad news" before they played donny. I've still got their album on vinyl. If you can find it, it's awesome. Brian May from Queen directed it and plays the odd cameo solo (well, most of them acutally). As Vim says..."Blow Queen off the f@cking stage anyday" ... LMFAO
I was there that year. I remember the bottles being thrown, and the sky turning black! Funny how some of the rock stars got the joke, and others appeared not to!
I was at Donington that year, absolutley p**sed, as were all my mates and Bad News were f**king great. The whole crowd was in stitches laughing. The tour shirt said "I saw Bad News Fuck up at Donington". Hahaha. They should do a follow-up in middle age.
If they were around today, people would know how rubbish the Darkness were when it came to trying to be funny!!.
Darkness were just annoying, these guys are funny to perfection!.
I thought it was all a big set-up for a filming, not an actual perfomance!!. Looked really ace, people shouldn't throw stuff at bands, not funny at all, especially when they're trying to make a living.
bad news puts spinal tap to shame. reunion tour!!

I live in Long Eaton, and contest that:
I have no more to add.
