  • I'm a 1985-2012 Metallica fan. Any covers of Metallica are an honor. It's a cover not a duplicate.

Keep an open mind and move on if you do not enjoy what you hear. Youtube has anything you need. Just type it in the above search field. Type in Mozart with bat shit and you'll find it. Metallica 30 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hopefully even some of you have original CD's and know what good quality music sounds like.

  • kick ass playing though!!

  • @ralph110281 In the words of Gunnery Sgt.Hartman " I bet your the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddamned common courtesy to give him a reach around! "

  • @hunglikeahorse120 hahahaha u stupid

  • @ralph110281 Really? Are you so ignorant that you can't even type a whole, CORRECT, sentence to insult me?!? Go back to English class dude. Oh and pay attention, it might prove useful later in life.

  • @hunglikeahorse120...This is how black people talk bitch so hows this faggot...... why dont you go fuck your mom and suck your boyfriends dick at the same time!! Now hows that for an insult Bitch!!!

  • @hunglikeahorse120 Watch your mouth pussy about black people u fucking racist You DON'T know me and i don't think you WANT to either!! Yo you are a true Pussy! I didn't even say nothing violent you bitch and you must be a fag to say that it wouldn't make you gay to fuck ya mom! but didn't you notice i said your BOYFRIEND Too Idiot! Me judging a stranger isn't that what the comments box for dickhead!!..Your being a fucking hypocrite judging me for making a comment How the fuck do you sound Bitch!

  • this was my favorite track from puppets..of course you can't go wrong with any of them

  • dude they are guttural vocals, a style so brutal that it makes your throat bleed if you try practicing them long enough.

  • Pretty damn decent cover, the vocals weren't my thing but being I'm so used to the original I couldn't say it doesn't fit, If anything it fits better during the "Back to the Front" segments. Instrumentally I liked the heavier sound. Well done

  • I won't complain about the vocals... They're not my style but they are still not that bad, HOWEVER... I don't like the guitar tone at all. I don't know what it is, but it's driving me crazy... Too buzzy.

  • mark hunter voice is so badass

  • :BB Paradise! I love this cover! this song is one of my favorite metallica's songs (: FUCK YEAH! Chimaira rules with this cover! ♥

  • POWERFULLLL !!!!

  • Dead on cover!!!!!! I love metal!!!!! \m/

  • Wow.ATTENTION: THIS IS JUST AN OPINION: This broke the TRASH METAL parameters in my opinion....As the people know the modernism/vanguard attack the classicism....(If you know what I mean) and this sounding like Metal Core is the representation of it....

Metal Core is Pop of Metal.....If all of you didn't know that....That's why It sucks IN MY OPINION.

  • @playbackist By the way, I know that this band Isn't a Metal core band.....anyways, It's sounds like a Metal core one..(It's a Heavy metal band, but the vocals are so similar to the Metal core ones). By the way, I was just making a point...

Other point is that this band belongs to NWOAHM(New Wave of American Heavy Metal). And that's other reason to be another of the modern bands...(Which I dislike).

  • 1 of the best Metallica covers i have ever heard

  • WOW! Love Chimaria seen them a few times, but never heard this. Mark was amazing.

  • Bodies fill the fields I see, hungry heroes end

No one to play soldier now, no one to pretend

Running blind through killing fields, bred to kill them all

Victim of what said should be, a servant till I fall

Fuck off, vocal in this is great. Metallica lyrics are the best in world. So fuckin epic

  • The vocals are terrible. The music is about as close to the original song as I've ever heard. Good job

  • Best Metallica cover I've ever heard , I think because it was fucking sick hearing those riffs played so furiously

  • Not exactly the best choice in a cover for a Groove Metal band, but they still rock it. I would've figured a band like Chimaira to do The Thing That Should Not Be, it's much more their style. And people who say that the vocals suck have obviously never took the time to listen to Chimaira's music, because Mark's a beast at vox. If you've never heard Chimaira before this, go listen to On Broken Glass, Nothing Remains, Ressurection, Down Again, and Everything You Love, just to name a few.

  • The guitar riffs kill, no matter who plays them.

  • @MetalJassim only as long as it's played well :P

  • vokal sucks

  • i used to have this album, i just wanted machines version of battery

  • vocals are similar to Funeral For A Friend's Damaged Inc cover ....awesome \m/

  • Great cover, Chimaira made it their own. People bitching about the vocals or whatever need to realize a cover is not a remake, its a tribute by a band to another band. They make it their own and they should, or it wouldn't be original. 'mehh these vocals suck' go listen to Metallica then, not Chimaira you bitch.

  • @Direksone I applaud you. Your words carry wisdom.

  • @caramon770 hehe thanks.

  • @Direksone RIGHT?! that shit drives me fucking CRAZY!

  • @wattsta07 bunch of metallica fanboys. cant stand em, whenever theres a cover they bash it without any good reason. Most covers I've come across are awesome, especially the Kerrang edition of Master of Puppets: Trivium, Chimaira, Bullet For My Valentine, Mastodon (those are the ones I can name from the top of my head) did a kickass job. Machine Head's Battery is awesome as well! (I actually prefer most covers above the originals, blasphemy, right?)

  • @Direksone lol only blasphemy saying B4MV is better ;) but all the others u mentioned are fucking EPIC! as a MASSIVE metallica fan, it is safe for me to say that these covers would make tallica proud \m/

  • @wattsta07 Metallica actually said themselves they liked Trivium's version of Master of Puppets better than their own;)

  • @wattsta07 Oh and yea not saying BFMV is better than Metallica as a whole, just their rendition of Welcome Home appealed to me more. The vocals of James are better, but instrumentally I like BFMV's version more, especially the intro.

  • @Direksone i can respect that :)

  • @wattsta07 And thats what its about: respect. You dont have to like it, just like you dont have to like this song, but being a douche and saying it sucks is just dumb.

  • if u want to hear a version of this song with 'better vocals' then listen to the original.... this is a great cover

  • Comment removed

  • the intro and everything else if great. except the singing

  • @AD0 They're metal vocals. You don't like em you can fuck off

  • @TheGhettoFineLaxer More "core" than metal

  • chimaira doesn't play in e standard... why didn't they just play in d standard...? would've helped the vocals, i think.

  • chimaira doesn't play in e standard... why didn't they just play in d standard...?

  • honestly these vocals fit this song well. Just cause you want to hear the same style of singing as the original you think this sucks piss off.

  • honestly these vocals fit this song well. Just cause you want to here the same style of singing as the original you think this sucks piss off.

  • 1:59 Needs some double bass triplets, lacks energy as it is, then full on double bass at 2:18.

  • great cover! \m/ \m/ CHIMARIA IS AWESOME!

  • Who the fuck picked who was gunna do these songs? Cuz i wanna rip his nuts off and throw em in a blender!

  • HAPPILY SURPRISED BY THE VOCALS!!! Fresh take! Still love this album 20 plus years later!!!

  • This isn't as bad as the "The Thing That Should Not Be" cover. Dear God that was painful.

  • @masterofpuppets10893 lol that is the cover that should not be

  • Kirk musta had soar throat

  • tops

  • weak.

  • This cover is surprisingly good! But Chimaira is a good band :P

It's just, when you're playing thrash: don't grunt, just sing as if you've been smokin and drinking to much x']

But god, why do I always want to hear Vader play any Metallica/Slayer song? xD

  • Sounds like Marge Simpson on vocals

  • @AD0 I almost shit when I read what you said. Marge simpson on vocals... lol

  • The instruments are great, but what kind of vocals are those?

  • Yeah the vocals don't really match the song, but I don't think its a bad cover.

  • I like Chimaira but their playing doesn't fit the vocals in this song, if they made it heavier I would love it.

  • vocals are garbage

  • i like this especially the less prominent clean vocals during the screams in the verse it fits

  • I fucking love this song

  • cant say that about NO ONE does it like Metallica listen to Trivium doing Master of Puppets just as good if not better

  • @lilfellajay No one can beat the original man ;p

  • Fucking perfect.

  • Great 'till 1:37, then woah ya fucked up.

  • @buzzardkiller92 How did they fuck up? :S

  • I thought they did pretty good with the instrumentals.

  • I loved it, BUT when he began to sing... how to say that, I found it... strange !

  • Chimaira FTW!!!!!!!

  • Great cover, I love this band and Metallica, but seriously, the vocals don't fit with this song e.e

  • @Thekmaggot lol they fit just fine.

  • good until he started singing lol

  • This is probably the best cover of a metallica song I've ever heard even tho mark hunters vocals are far different from hetfields I think they fit this song very well... anyways the musicianship here is amazing

  • @snowmanedizzle At fucking last, someone that agrees with me. It's aggressive vocals in an aggressive song, it fits perfectly.

  • This was Andols first recording when he got back with Chimaira in '06, sucks that he was forced to leave again, I like this cover.

  • fuck u all i think this song is fucking awesome

  • vocals SUCK

  • Really like this cover, the growl-y vocals suit this song really well

  • Really, the vocals arent bad. Its not really screaming...its more of a death growl. Very understandable and clear too.

  • This definitely got my head banging....

  • I thought this would sound bad but its pretty good.

  • They played the instruments almost perfectly...

  • he needs to clear the cum out of his throat before he open his mouth and sings

  • i don't understand why people hate this vocals, are brutal and this doesn't have classic melodic chorus metalcore (Everything same) great job chimaira

  • Comment removed

  • this is fucking bad, i hate metal now a days, think that their so cool by not keeping it in standard, 80's metal > than this shit

  • @keepthrashalive THIS IS IN STANDARD TUNING

  • @keepthrashalive wtf are you smoking? nowadays has a shit load of metal, we got Kalmah, Ensiferum, Children of Bodom, Norther, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera, Deicide, As I Lay Dying, Death Angel, and A LOT more, the 80's had awesome metal but not that many bands

    they had

Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Death, Morbid Angel, Iced Earth, Dark Angel, Possessed

  • @Leichestein not that many bads in the 80's? I can name at the very least 80-90 more.

  • @Leichestein you forgot iron maiden, Ronnie James Dio, ozzy, and many others that i shouldnt have to mention if you wasnt a stupid ass idiot. Pantera isnt even around anymore. not saying that they wasnt an extraordinary band cuz they were and most of the ones you mentioned are death metal and shit. your forgetting the classics that got ALMOST every metal band nowadays inspired to start playing metal. most metal bands now dont even fucking sing and cant really make a good songthey just throw shit

  • @hunglikeahorse120 I think you might want to have a look at some modern symphonic/power metal. They really DO sing. Though it's hard to find modern thrash bands with proper singers...

  • @Leichestein together and bang on shit. they dont even sing the lyrics. the just fucking make noises that sound like words. its rare that you find a metal band now days that still have the roots of metal that started in the 80s.

  • I like the Ceremonial oath version alot better.

  • dream theater did a pretty good cover

  • they should have done orion. no vocals!

  • It was good until the vocals started.

  • @PohatuJr yea definitely feelin these vocals

  • @PohatuJr So true!

  • @PohatuJr soo true

  • @PohatuJr have to agree, vocals suck bad. heard local barhopping death metal bands that sound better then that.

  • this is pretty much bang on.Metallica can't do it this good still.Insturmentation I mean.i like the vocal twist on this

  • not a big fan of the voice, but the instruments are almost perfect.

  • metallica is the brett favre of metal probably one of the greatest ever but the act of not wanting 2 hang it up and call it quits leaves a tarnished legacy of old guys that cant evolve with what the made great............dont get me wrong i love metallica at least the old stuff... black album........they changed the game

  • -bursts out laughing-is he taking a dump while singing this?

  • He sounds like he's trying to whisper. lol

  • Sounds like he needs a lozenge

  • shitly voice

  • This is right up there with BTBAM's cover of "Blackened." Great stuff!

  • WHOAAA that solo just blew me out of my seat. damn Chimera is awesome

  • Chimaira its now the Power the Fury Metallica no more!

  • @kornfleis6 u can die in hell b itch...METALLICA WILL ALWAYS RULE THIS UNIVERSE.....chimaira are zero compared to them

  • @unbr4eakable Metallica were knocked off the throne years ago.

  • @onett128 well u wish so....fool

  • @unbr4eakable I don't need to wish so, Metallica have been reduced to paupers since the release of Load.

  • @onett128 that statement is Sad but True... :/

  • being that is my favorite metallica song i can say they did a really good job covering this song

  • killer like thriller

  • chimaira raped this song bad ass

  • This is fucking epic. They cover the song perfectly while still incorporating their own sound.. perfect cover.

  • dont really get the vocals

its probably 2 different vocal tracks

one of them is screaming and the other is lower more melodic singing

  • It was good until the vocals came in.

  • bad cover

  • shitty

  • Fucking metal. BACK TO THE FRONT!

  • This is fucking BEAST!!! I love it!!

  • this has made my day, sounds more demonic, sick.

  • @scottb8819 The song's not meant to sound demonic, no Metallica song is..

  • This PWNS metallica. :D

  • @slayyer000 ...my ass

  • I think the reason why most bands scream for metallica covers is because NO ONE can sing like James Hetfield. end of story. BUT for what its worth this is one of the better covers... the funeral for a friend garbo was terrible

  • Fuckin Love it !

    even better than original (:

  • @Vinniboy88 no cover is better than the original in my opinion

  • @666Jalkasieni not so, think of all along the watchtower by bob dylan, then think of the jimi hendrix cover

  • CHIMAIRA is BEAST

  • Great Band and a great song.

  • the guitars sound EXACTLY the same thts badass

  • not bad

  • Yeah covers don't have to be carbon copies of the originals....but they also shouldn't be so ridiculously different that you can't even tell what song it is!!!

  • @skaterboiWA Machine Head did good, Trivium did good, Mastodon did good, Chimaira didn't... the voice I hate. The instrumentation is good though.

  • @skaterboiWA "QQQ BUHAAAAA QQQ AMAGAD NOT ORIGINAL MOMMY QQ" is what i see in your comment, go check trivium, machine head and mastodon and dare say again they are bad bands

  • @2shae1980 the bands themselves are awesome, this cover album just isn't the best

  • me like

  • It's Chimaira not "Chimaria"

  • The guitars, bass and drums are spot on. The vocals are a bit iffy. If they mixed some cleaner vocals in there along with the screaming (which works perfectly for the chorus and the section around 5:43), then I would see this as one of the best Metallica covers.

  • Considering the original version of this had the worst singing on the entire album, I see this as an improvement.

  • @RATMPat ya right..

  • the voice fuckin killed this song : :::(

  • fucking shit, why the hell you ass screams for an epic song like this.

  • @rati50 obviously people dont much about covers. especially when a heavy metal band covers something. covers are , MOST of the time, meant as a tribute but with that bands sole sound and with they're signature twist. bands being covered prefer it that way. nobody wants the same exact damn thing played over by someone else. just in case you were un-aware of this. so when a heavy metal band that screams, covers...there will be screaming. pretty self explanitory. theres your lesson for today. :)

  • @boutinboy

that doesnt mean it is a good cover

  • @boutinboy kinda like suicide silence covering deftones, mitch screamed the whole time.

  • @rati50 -___-

  • not bad, but NO ONE does it like Metallica themselfs >:)

  • @MazterblooD cause no one is as good as metallica, never will be

  • @skaterboiWA there are plenty of bands better than Metallica. i like Metallica better than every band on this album, but I like to hear a good cover every once in a while. these covers kick ass. i do agree they aren't as good as the originals, but shit, they are fucking awesome.

  • @MazterblooD if you're takllking about the tribute album. TBH, Bullet For My Valentine did. I even have a poster where Matthew TRuck (singer of Bullet) is wearing a Metallica top. just to tell you at least 1 band liked them

  • @MazterblooD *selves

  • @MazterblooD James and Kirk were Elvish? I know Cliff was and Lars is, but not sure of the other two. Kirk I'd believe it, but not sure about James "Juliana" Hetfield.

  • As for they're 5th, they didn't want to stick to on genre. When you come up with a good riff that isn't Thrash you don't just throw it away. The 5th album has double bass, great guitar solos, superb vocals, dramatic bass grooves, and it's not like it's at all slow. Look up "Through The Never", it's a pretty fast song and it's all down picking. DON'T HOLD METALLICA OR ANY OTHER BAND UP TO A RIDICULOUS PEDESTAL TO THE POINT WHERE YOU THINK WHAT IS RIGHT OR WRONG FOR THEM TO PLAY.

  • They would've lost money if they didn't take care of the Napster issue. They are musicians not robots, so they have the right to play what they want and not stick to one genre and for that I am thankful for Metallica having the balls to do that and being so unique. Load and Reload aren't very "mainstream" and St. Anger was more of an attempt as a form of therapy through music.

  • People called them sell outs for experimenting very slightly by changing their 5th album to heavy metal instead of Thrash. They grew up on Sabbath and Maiden, it's not like they weren't inspired by the legendary music anyway. After that people couldn't really hold them in their back pocket, so "fans" became angry and started labeling them "sell outs".

  • Listen children, Metallica never sold out. Bands don't "sell out" unless they've been "sell outs" since the beginning. They've been accused of seeling out since Ride The Lightning (2nd Album).

  • @2meanings According to the morons...a band technically sold out when they got a record deal and started making some money. They should stick in bars and "keep it real" as they say...

  • wtf is he whispering?
