This amp, no doubt, is a good quality amp, but doesn't really have anything in the sound that is all its own. At this price range, I would much rather have Matchless or Hiwatt.
Nice job on the Summer Teeth Andy!!! You guys over there have an extremely good taste in music. Playing Zep and Floyd is obviously a smart idea, but when you add Elliott Smith and Wilco too...it makes me respect you that much more.
What makes them so expensive? I understand that they use quality parts and they're handmade but I agree that $3000+ for an amp is ridiculous. Try the Peavey Classic 50 410 instead. It sounds amazing, built like a tank and is 1/3 the price.
Andy finally a worthy demo of this amp...thank you man!! can you demo all the other divided by 13's please? dont forget les paul into it!! my fav's are the jrt 9/15, LDW 17/39, FTR 37, RPB 37 ....id love to see some demo's of those especially the ftr 37 with 4 6v6's!! whoa mama...love them 6v6's
I love %13 Amps... I like the RSA31 a whole lot. Off the topic... Andy's neck vibrato has gotten much smoother and bluesier this year. Good work Andy... that buttery blues shake's not easy get.
Rusty Anderson is currently using the JRT on tour with Paul McCartney, so those thinking that it might not be loud enough...think again. To those complaining about price...like usual with gear, you get what you pay for. I have an RSA31, which is a VOX clone and it blows my VOX AC30 away. It is much more defined and can get more raunchy. Don't knock the amp until you try it...trust me, it'll blow your mind once you play one.
AWESOME TONES...but I agree with everyone in saying it's way too much money...$2,500 bucks, i don't know man, I'd just get the new Fender Super Sonic. Make prices more competitive, then you can sign me up for one!
Amazing little combo, love the tones!! but yes I agree, $2500 is a little steep for such a low wattage amp. Now if they made this as a 4x10 in 50 watts with an EL-34/6L6 switchable power secrtion....I'd be one happy Canadian! :)
I agree. VERY-cool amp. Wish I could afford it. However, I'm getting the sweetest tone out of an old US-made Hot Rod Deluxe and my trusty 30-year-old MXR Distortion +. That amp loves a great-sounding dirt pedal. I think I paid under $400 for it used. I only use it for the clean-channel.
@ZackCrossfade That is our trusty G&L Legacy! If you don't see one in stock, all G&L's are made to order so feel free to call our Chris in custom guitars 503-670-4949
@smoss469 You're paying the tonal quality, not bucks per amp. Besides, most amps have way too much wattage for their player's good, which is not playing on stage with the volume on 2-3 where the tone is not "opened up" as the damn thing is loud enough already, at least if you're like me.
@VegetativeHorse Yes but a lower wattage amp has less parts, therefore less time required to manufacture and less cost as well. You're paying for the name in essence.Part of it comes from the quality, but let's be honest. Most boutique amps operate on the premise that their products offer you a state of high class elitism that the regular masses just can't obtain. Look at Matchless. You can get their 30 amp.. which is basically a copy of a Vox AC30 for 5 times the price.
@smoss469 I don't see this one having that much less parts, but in any case, I've yet to see any amps of this kind and quality being sold for considerably less, be it boutique amps like 65 and Matchless that you mentioned or hand-wired Marshals and Voxes. Usually they're priced from 1500 to 2000+. I'm not denying that it's a large amount of money, but I'm not particularly surprised by the price of this one.
FINALLY a /13 clip on utube showing how their amps sound overdriven! There are way too many clips (with poor sound quality to boot) of /13's playing only prisitine cleans.
@WoWAdmanGuitaring they probably won't, theyve already done an older version of it : AC30CC2X. Theyve also got a version for the handwired, so i wouldn't hope on it :S. I got the C2 though, Superb Amp
One caveat: the tolex covering is very brittle and very easily damaged for such a high priced amplifier. My head looks like it was attacked by a cheeze grater.
I would also much rather have a bogner after hearing this thing. Its not that great and a whole lot of money.
