You certainly don't hear many people try and copy that very first version on Paramount. The sheet music was the Victor version. I heard a few variations from the original version there.
@freakyhead20 You did great! That's not an easy piece to tackle. It wears out the left hand keeping it up to speed. You have the relaxed rhythm. More like playing by ear instead of classical trained and trying to read the sheet music. Not robotic. It's smooth. I remember I first learned it from the original 78 on a record player sitting on the piano bench. I picked it out. Later I got the sheet music and found I wasn't too far off the mark.
Heavens to Murgatroid! What a DYNAMITE version of my all time favorite boogie woogie number! Kudos, sir! THANKS for sharing your awesome talent with us! You've MADE my day & my weekend! Keep up the good work! :)
Oh I can, but here I just like to stick to the originally piece, makes me wonder why I want to invent a timemachine ,go back in time and play with the good 'old boys :) but thanks
i am a pian player myself...and i must say you play good :) ...i can't seem to find the piano sheet will you please send it to me?it would make me very happy cause i'm a big fan of meade "lux" :)
Richard, thank you so much for your kind words, I hope my music will spread joy to this world where there are not enough people who make music and appreciate eachother :)
Damn fine effort! If you want to hear what I reckon is the definitive version, check out the (rare) album 'The Blues: A Real Summit Meeting', and check out Lloyd Glenn's version!
I used to drive my dad crazy, stripping the old upright down... to me, that's how this music should sound, slightly out of tune and played with enthusiasm.
Eeco, you're worse than a haunted house because it's truely fritghtening as to how good that you play :), Albert, Meade Lux, Jimmy, Pete, and many others are lookin down on you and sayng, "Man, look at that kid go, he can really play", it is eveident that they are smiling when you play, because it comes through in your music :), but you still manage to keep your own original touch to whatever you play also :), and that is a gift in itself :)
Once again a superb rendition of a boogie woogie classic Can you play any of Jimmy Yancey's material?
Finally I have to say that I find the comment from freak195 extaordinary! Having performed on a number of festivals with Axel Z. I can assure you that you 'play like a professional (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) - indeed I believe that Axel would be delighted with your obvious command of the genre - Please keep up the good work it's positively inspiring!
it's like 2x: D+G+B 2x:D+F#+A+C etc..then for C I use : C+E+G and C+F+A etc..back to G part and then the last chords are: D+F#+A+C and D+F#+A+D..etc..I like this left hand its easy going and it has got a continously tempo :)
Suggesting it may be better than the original sounds a bit too euphoric. I would say not bad for an amateur player but still miles away from - let's say - Zwingenberger's version.
Very nice playing indeed! As a struggling piano player I'm always very impressed with anyone who can play this piece.

Eeco, you are really generous imparting so much info so readily. Yor Boogie is a joy to listen to (and damn hard to emulate...but then I'm aged 72).
