It's a good movie with a heavy 80s coating that some may find distracting. As far as it having a deeper meaning, it is the usual Friedkin cynicism toward law enforcement. The acting is fantastic and makes the characters seem deeper than they are but this is nowhere near the masterpiece that The French Connection is. Still a fun movie which I enjoyed.

@GoGoGadgetBeer ...you are right man. At the time it was an awsome movie., and it is still today one of the most underrated films in history. A master piece of action-suspense, with that early 80's flavour. The musis is great and the car chase was back then unseen in film making.

This film and the Music with it has been giving me chills since first seeing if in 1987. This truly is Friedkin's finest hour! The end credit's are also fantastic!. The Director of Photography for this film is Robbie Muller.What an amazing job he did of lensing this masterpiece. Is there any other film out there that capture's the "City of Angels" in the way that this one did?
