@MrKolt2112 Talk radio was comparing San Jose's hard luck to Vancouver's hard luck. Vancouver's is worse because we've had crap that SJ didn't have to deal with including giving a $20mil/3 year deal to a washed up player. So I decided to search for 'Mark Messier Vancouver' and this video came up and lo and behold, here you were again!
@MrKolt2112 I actually think SJ. I just think that you need to recently have gone as far as the final and semifinal and lose before you can win. Chicago had to do this, Crosby's Penguins had to do this and only SJ has been to the semifinal since the lockout. Van hasn't been this far in 17 years!
@MrKolt2112 I did some research and it turns out that since 1967, only 4 teams have managed to win the cup w/o losing in the final or semifinal recently first. Of those 4 teams, 3 of them had players who won cups w/o other teams and were prominent members of those teams (e.g. 94 NY rangers had all those ex-Oilers). All Van has is Samuelson. :(
@MrKolt2112 Let's talk in a different video. :) I predict Vancouver although it's been a weird year. There's even a guy in Vancouver who thinks there might be a conspiracy (can you believe the schedule??)
@gino356 I agree... I'd never say he wasn't a great player. But don't tell @MrKolt2112 that because he gets angry and/or sleepy when somebody uses facts/logic/arguments. Sshhh...
@MrKolt2112 Who are the pylons? You mean Alexander Mogilyny and Pavel Bure? For 20mil over 3 years and with Keenan as the head coach, you should see *some* improvement. They didn't make the playoffs during his tenure and not when he went back to NY either.
@MrKolt2112 I didn't blame him for Vancouver's downfall, I said his leardership sucked and considering how much money he got, he didn't live up to it.
As for your pointless Mogily & Bure stats, Vancouver was already in the past for them when they hit their 10 year mark. So what's the point in comparing ages, and stats at 17th year, etc? What matters is how good they were when Messier was there. Obviously, you use stats to change the subject.
@MrKolt2112 Wow, what a clueless dick you are. Let me say this for the 2nd time: I never said nor implied that Messier 'destroyed' Vancouver. Learn how to read and comprehend. The word I used was 'useless'. And then I said I didn't blame him for his downfall.
You may have stats but u clearly don't know how to use them, bringing up irrelevant numbers shows how lost you are.
@MrKolt2112 Who's the one who threw the insults first by calling me a 'putz', using bad arguments and telling me to argue like a man? Amazing your hypocrisy. And to learn to read and comprehend people you attack as well.
You're the one who needs to let it go. I just put down one comment/observation. I don't think about it that much beyond that. GROW UP!
And if Mess did his job, why didn't they re-sign him?
@MrKolt2112 The trades leading up to the Sedins joining Vancouver was because of Messier? How? By leading them to near the bottom of the league? Thank you for proving my point.
We got Luongo in 2006, 6 years after Messier left, how did that trade happen because of Mess. I loved to see ur stupid answer.
@MrKolt2112 So that explains Keenan's contribution, of which he only had a part so small, it's not worth mentioning. You might as well give credit to his mother as well because if she hadn't given birth to 'Iron Mike', none of this would have happened. Brian Burke deserves more credit for Luongo.
@MrKolt2112 Hey, guess what? Dan Russell interviewed Gino Odjick last night on CKNW (look up CKNW audio vault) and they talked about how disruptive Messier was in the dressing room and tried to see if he could basically become a player/GM and get the players and coach he wanted, including getting Pat Quinn fired and Keenan as a coach. I didn't even know this stuff, I just thought he was just disruptive.
So go give Russell and Odjick a call and tell them to stop whining and LET IT GO!!
@MrKolt2112 Sigh... there you go again changing the argument.
I don't have any problems with people replying. And if I cast the 1st stone, it was at Messier not you. But fine, I don't mind people who add to the conversation - but people who put words in my mouth - yeah, I'll take exception to that.
@MrKolt2112 But ok, since I said I don't mind ppl who add to the conversation, why don't you go ahead and tell me what they said, even though Bertuzzi wasn't in the dressing room when linden was there and Klatt and Jovanovski were here after Bure quit on the Canucks. You would take the word of 3 guys who weren't even there over Gino Odjick who *was* there and is best friends with Bure so he has some insight? Or Linden, the true captain of the Canucks?
@MrKolt2112 So I decided to look up anything that Naslund said on Messier. He *does* say good things about Messier (I don't want to cherry pick) but he does also say, ''In his last year here, a lot of players were scared to say anything in the locker room with Mark in the room."
@MrKolt2112 I'm not gonna say that Mess destroyed a good team because they missed the playoffs the year before he came, but he didn't make it better either. The Canucks continued their downward spiral until his last year when they got better (I think) because they got rid of Messier's coach Keenan and brought in Crawford.
@MrKolt2112 Keep in mind that Messier's last playoffs was the year before he left for Vancouver and he never made it since. True, the Rangers missed the playoffs the 3 years he was gone (which was partly what caused Gretzky to retire) but then again, he *did* guarantee a playoff berth his 1st year back which they didn't fulfill.
@MrKolt2112 And it wasn't festering, I just heard it and thought you may be the type who likes facts and data since you wrote the word *research* in caps, but that was all talk.
@MrKolt2112 So the question is not whether I expected nobody to say anything, the question is whether you thought you could make up stuff, put words in my mouth, call me a name and then tell me to calling names and not expect me to respond or take exception?
@MrKolt2112 Why was Messier brought in? To be the top 3 in scoring on the team? No, to turn things around. Did that happen? No. Was it all his fault? No. (I never said or implied that it did.) Was he at least a positive force? No. That was my point.
@MrKolt2112 All I said was that his leadership sucked and that we were glad to be rid of him. You're the one doing most of the bitching, not reading closely, etc.
@MrKolt2112 And the Sedins weren't there because of Messier, they were there because they were poor enough to get a good draft pick and Brian Burke made a complex trade to get the an additional draft pick. So unless, you want credit Messier for Vancouver doing so poorly that they got to draft high...
interesting isn't it..... they booed him out of edmonton -- i'm not an oilers fan , or oilers (i highly dislike both), but as a neutral observer, it sure seems to me that his heart is in New York....i remember when he went back into MSG in Nov,97 as a Canuck and cried like a baby when they did a tribute video.....that guy left his heart in Manhatten - no doubt about it
Simply put, Mark was one of the best captains EVER in NHL history. I don't think anyone else, after Wayne Gretzky was traded to LA, could lead the Oilers like Mark. And let's no forget his tenure in New York City with the Rangers. Mark was one of the few Rangers players that I never hated as a Pens fan. It's hard to hate Mark for what he's done. Six Stanley Cups, seven appearances, and a Conn Smythe trophy sums up a damn good career. We miss you, Mark, your memory will never be forgotten.
I've enjoyed watching Mess along with all the other Championship OILERs, like Fuhr, Lowe, Huddy,Lowe, Kurri, Anderson, Gretzky and all the "Great-Ones" I've missed...but Messier is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE & ALWAYS WILL BE!!.......way to go Mark!!.....Edmontonions are PROUD!
no... gretzky is in and league of his own dude .. Messier cant touch what Gretzky did .. Leadership wise yes .... but the goals scored and the points amassed no
@ghytg you are a fucking loser and you don't even care about how you look. it's so ovbious you have no life because you devote alot of time to hating the rangers with redundant and senseless videos. Seriously what the fuck does a guy falling off a roof or into a lake have ANYTHING to do with the Rangers or the fans? Only an idiot like you can make the connection.
