Actually, it could happen. More often than you think.

A smart soldier will usually fire rockets at the ground near the pyro, as the pyro is less likely to reflect it like that.

Once it's been fired, you just need to get the timing right for the rocket and your reflect.

@R7gmbx I know right! I have tons of sniper kills on my strange flaregun. Heavies are the hardest to get with the flaregun but still easier than with the shotgun. Once you get used to the flaregun it transforms into the flarefun lol.

@vekk513 agreed. the enhanced range is invaluable, but the 1 shot, then reload leaves a lot to be desired. it's great in covering a retreat and for support fire. plus, the mini-crit on burning enemies is really nice. but, as you stated, it's not as versatile or as reliable as the shotgun. don't expect to be a killing machine with the flare gun.

they're equal, out of shotgun and flaregun you can't pick one that is better.

flaregun:

30 damage, 60 burn, total of 90

flaregun on burning opponent:

minicrit for 40 damage, 60 burn, total of 100.

shotgun:

about 85 damage up close, 60 just outside of the flame range.

shotgun is hitscan, flaregun is projectile. in terms of damage output the shotgun is better, especially when you just ignite with the flamethrower and then shotgun. flaregun can be used at longer ranges to snipe-burn someone

no, those are the stats. 30 impact, and the usual 60 burn damage. only way to get it off is water, medkit, jarate, etc etc. it does do that much damage to anyone that doesnt get rid of it.

The other thing though is that the shotgun has a much higher ROF. Also, I don't think afterburn stacks.

On the other hand, I think an enemy is much more likely to run for a medpack if they're lit, even if they end up taking less damage overall. You could argue that the flaregun is better at temporarily removing enemies from a fight.

well, most of the time this would be your death! you won't meet a soldier wirhout his mates. if you kill the soldier with this rocket-reflect-jump his mates will finish you with shotguns or pipes in the air.

it's cool if you can do that but it doesn't make you better... ^^

I've done these non staged. Can be useful if you want to take out a medic and get out of fire from the soldier, but be careful because if the soldier is good, he'll airshot the shit out of you. Then again, usually only league players can airshot and everyone knows that they're pretentious faggots. :<
