  • Lovin it my friend. I just started learning claw hammer on my great grammies Gibson. what are the notes for this tuning I absolutely love the sound.

  • Sawmill tuning aka g-modal

  • Any chance you could tab your version out ? I have been trying to learn it in open G but I think it would be easier in sawmill thank you !!!

  • Sorry, I play by ear and watching other reat banjo players in my area. I would'nt know where to begin with tab. Not sure if my ADHD could handle it ;)

  • @Gmastertech you're only a 1/2 step away on one string. hint, string 2

  • Sure like the way you play, Reverend. Sounds great, both versions. I've never been happy with my Cluck Old Hen. I learned it with the second melody note, "Old", played with the thumb on the fifth string. Throws off the rhythym. I've seen tab of several versions where it's done like you do...with "Old" on the first string/fifth fret...but now that I've ,earned it one way I can't seem to get out of the habit. You sure make it look nice and easy. I'm going to have to keep trying.

  • I like this version of Clluck Old Hen, what tuning do you use and whats the brand of banjo you have there

  • Google Sawmill or Appalachian tuning. The banjo is a piece of junk china made with the name of Guitar Works that I got off eBay real cheap. I then spent another $100 replacing the head and tuners and about an hour setting it up to get it to sound halfway decent. This is my throw it in the back of the car without a case banjo.
