  • U will always be the awesome and kickass billy! !!!

  • So deep. Thank you Mr. Yost for your contributions.

  • i love the point about keepng the cast around, i feel like crying right now just thinking about how rangers came and went after you had fallen in love with them

billy, jason, kimberly, zack ,trini and tommy were the greatest

  • your a good guy gay or not i like you as a person

  • kind of ironic saban originaly owned power rangers than disney now saban does again even with the crap disney does with shows now atleast i can say if he was on the show as a kid when disney owned it then maybe he would still be that blue ranger

  • @eveelutions now saban got the rights back, because disney considered power rangers to be a piece of shit

  • Look at David's Face @0:02 It's funny. LOL xP

  • Look at David's Face @0:02 It's funny. LOL xP

  • god sake..turn the sad music off..im out of tissues!!

  • Man he seems like such a nice guy, I feel so bad for him that people backstage gave him shit for being gay. The show was always quite preachy about morals (not stealing, recycling, being there for your friends, etc.) so it seems really hypocritical for this to have happened. I'd love to see him return for an episode or two. Here's to Billy, the greatest Blue Ranger ever!

  • o and the people that did all the stuff eg spitting and threatening you, you should be ashamed of yourselves, this man is a legend and they were jelous, i only found this out about 10 minutes ago and already dont want to watch power rangers again, your a hero david yost and i think you should direct the new power rangers or something like that, your a legend..

  • his guy was power rangers who gives a crap if he was gay, he was one of he greats and sill is.. the only thing i hope was no other actors on the show called him a ''faggot'' that would reall destroy the essance that is power rangers and i couldnt watch it again...

  • If the part about him being called a faggot many times is true, then the people who called him that clearly shouldn't have been running a show that's meant to encourage morals.

  • He should direct the new power rangers!!!

  • David Yost, watching this interview i can only say that you were and still are a brave person...... God bless you¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • i had heard he was bitter about the mmpr but after watching this i totally understand...... that is horrible.... workinh conditions for homosexuals in the early 90's were nasty.... poor david the guy didn't deserve that... he made the childhood of many of us something awsome....

  • @SEAWEEDRAVEN so is the beloved Ernie. He died of a heart attack in 2008.

  • I always liked Billy and stopped watching shortly after he left the show because the original cast was gone. Episodes like Switched Places, where he had to act like Kimberly definitely didn't help his case...nor the fact that they just had to go to the Thunderzords and give him the stupid Unicorn. Poor guy, glad he is happy now though. Favorite ranger after Tommy.

  • @songdanceman2003 I'm also very surprised that he hasn't ever watched those episodes after he left.

  • i myself am not gay but i do have gay friends... The F word to a gay person is the N word to a black person!!!! I loved the Power Rangers as a kid but i never really like "Billy"... but when he left i was very sad... i missed him.... Know now what happened im still not a "Billy" fan but im always going to be a fan of David Yost fan!!!!!

  • Fuckin assholes its sad when people treat people bad due to their sexuality. Im straight as they come but it's not cool to fuck with people that. Surprising that we almost lost two of the original power rangers.

  • We all love you, man! Whether you're gay or not!

  • People are completely horrible. Im bi-sexual and proud to be who i am, im happy who i am. People should never discriminate.

  • I just want to give him a hug...

I think it's humbling that he is able to speak so truthfully about his problems, and even the mistakes he went about trying to "fix" them.

I can only say that I am super happy he is still around, found his way and is continuing to pursue what he enjoys most about life.

You were my favourite Power Ranger David. So thanks for the awesome entertainment as I was growing up.

  • Now I know why david was mostly mad behind the scenes in the power rangers

  • Personal hero

  • I'm completely in love with David. He is probably the only true power ranger there ever was. He made such a wise and powerful choice to leave Power rangers. Just imagine, like he said, if he stayed, he probably would've ended up taking his life. I'm so glad he decided to leave. I'm so glad he got his life back on track. I hope to meet him one day just to give him a hug and tell him thanks for being my true power ranger.

  • I love him

  • Thank you for coming out!I watched you as a kid..:)

  • And that is why the Blue Ranger is awesome!!! I truly wish Mr. Yost a great life and that he keeps rocking on!

  • Man, it's really sad to hear all the hardships David has gone through. It's good to see that he's doing well now. The crew of Power Rangers are real assholes. I actually read that Scott Page-Pagter, one of the producers of the show, completely denies anyone insulting David. He actually calls him "a pain in the ass" and that his reason for leaving the show was that he wasn't getting a raise. Scott is full of shit, and I hope he burns in hell.

  • This dude is solid.

  • blue ranger is my hero

  • that is exactly why the show doesn't have the same success that it did have what goes around comes around that is why you have to watch what you do and say to ppl because it is consequences

  • best blue ranger

  • To me,you will always be a Power Ranger David Yost. You are a hero to me.

  • The entire Power Rangers show helped me in my younger years, and Billy was a character I related to. I was a very awkward kid and was called geek (A name which I now embrace as my identity) and other similar names, and I'm also in a wheelchair which made it even harder. When I was a kid I never even knew David was gay but when I found out it made me even happier that Billy was one of my role models since David also had a hard time fitting in for his own reasons.

  • Harsh. People were really (kinda hard to find words) back then. We had the whole AIDS ordeal back in the 80s and the association with gay people. People weren't as receptive about it as some are now.

I can kinda relate in terms of an identity crisis - in my case just trying to figure out what you're meant to do - and having a nervous breakdown. Still sort of battling depression but I'm making my way through and finding a purpose in life.

Despite that, I'd love for David to return & direct.

  • His story of leaving and after leaving is really sad, hes part of my childhood, if I ever see him hes getting a hug haha

  • @reileyb

Amen to that. Amen to that.

  • This guy was my childhood hero. I always opted to be the blue ranger when my friends would play power rangers in preschool because triceratops was my favorite dinosaur. When I started elementary school, I was made fun of for being smart and 'Nerdy' because I still watched power rangers. I felt even closer to Billy. Here I am, 17 years old and a proud bisexual male with dreams of writing/directing. David Yost has always been my hero, and I hope I get the chance to meet him and tell him that.

  • David Yost, you and the rest of the Rangers entertained an entire generation. We loved watching you fight "cheesy" villains in rubber suits and we lived for it. Thank you for being the original Blue Ranger.

  • Well, I'm not so sure that JDF didn't insulted him too.... David obviously didn't like Jason and looking at the very conservative background of Jason it kinda makes sense....

  • @HandsomeMario Obviously didn't like Jason, yet he did his first panel with him? JDF conservative? JDF was the first to admit some of the things he did to David, and none of them were homophobic, all of them were practical jokes or horsing around. There is only one actor who's admitted to not getting along with David, and that was JYB.

  • whos jyb?

  • @theceng Johnny Yong Bosch.

  • @slickricklj for years, I actually thought he was more gay than David. For some reason, I never liked JYB.

  • @songdanceman2003 He seems cool enough, but I don't care much for his non-PR work. I just found it interesting, JYB is now saying nice things about him, like David letting him use his jeep once, yet years ago he just let it be known that David had some of his actions scenes taken away in the MMPR film. He said the new guy didn't deserve them. Now why David would be nice to him one minute, and then do that made me wonder if JYB was the one who made fun of him backstage.

  • David's no saint, but I just found it odd David would get on Johnny's case, but not Karan or Steve's.

  • @slickricklj good point, I don't know a lot about the actors themselves, but from what I've seen of JYB, it wouldn't surprise me if he did that. He never really seemed laidback on the show and I have a feeling David felt that he was most experienced, tried to correct and help JYB and got backlashed. JYB also seems like he would hold a grudge for a while. Who am I to judge?

  • wow porr dude

  • David I want you to know you where my favourite Power Ranger whilst I was growing up!

  • David, you should stay who you are and NEVER change! I can tell you are an awesome human being cause you have tenderness in your eyes that not many people have. Glad you were a big part of my childhood!

  • Damn, this is too real.

  • This is weird. They started calling him "faggot" after every original (except JDF) MMPR left. And that kinda makes sense cause if those producers/directors etc felt the same thing right from day 1 they couldn't do it cause back then everyone was together so I suppose they (prod/dir) were gonna have problems with everyone who portrayed the rangers. That's what I think.

  • @eliaskementse No actually they were doing it WELL before then. David even said last year, one costar (he didn't name the person) was in a producer's office, and both the producer and the costar were making fun of how "Gay" he was while watching the dailies (footage they shot from the day before). YES a cast member was in on it! He then said he did the show for another year and a half.

Watch "We're Perfect in God's Grace: David Yost - Part 2" about 7 mins in.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, This is one of the PR producers' response to this interview. "I don’t know why he’s saying this, but he was the only one no one got along with...he was a pain in the ass." What an jackass, that producer can rot in hell!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAVID! Today, the 7th of January, is David's birthday, he's 43 now.

  • WHITE POWER

    .

    .

    .

    ranger.

  • I had no idea he was so deep. MMPR 4 Life.

  • WOW! They did NOT stay proffesional calling him gay.

  • @EDDlEMEDUZA Yes, real professionals do separate personal life from from a professional's performance. The green/white ranger was was stupid, acting like bully teenagers, and so were the bosses. I'm glad nowadays they can be sewed and get screwed a lot easier than 20 years ago.

  • They have interviews with all of the power rangers except Kimberly the pink ranger a.k.a Amy Jo. I know why they don't have interviews or updates on her we still love you as the pink ranger Amy with or without the power coin those days will never fade for us. Please come to one of the cons and share your thoughts and stories, David Yost you to you never come to the cons or met ups for the fans go to one and feel the love we support you guys till the end .

  • True Ranger at heart. For a show that tried to teach positive attitude to young children, back stage sure didn't practice what it tried to teach. I respect him now more than ever. He is the best Blue Ranger.

  • This stuff about being harassed and called "faggot" and leaving the show for this reason is pure bullshit. He was given a bonus along with two other actors but when they stopped giving him the bonus that's when he quit the show. In reality he was the only cast member that nobody got along with, and he was a huge pain in the ass. This story about being harassed for being gay is pure lies.

  • @SnakeSkin950 Congrats, you can read Wikipedia. How do you know that is true?

  • @PohTayToez How do you know what he's saying is true?

  • @SnakeSkin950 the thing about money can be true or not,but jason david frank was the one who had the big checkpays, but he was in the show for over 4 years, why leave?,he isn't getting any kind of benefit with this, why would he lie?,and saban lost some other actors before beacuse they treated them bad, karan ashley(aisha)was written off the series and they didn't even tell her about it first.they literaly left her saying "what the hell"

  • @SnakeSkin950 JDF has also said at a con, he stuck up for him for being harassed by other cast members, example; Austin St. John. So really sir, don't believe the Wikipedia bullshit. Even if he WAS a pain in the ass, which I don't believe, even being bullied by the crew is complete and utter bullshit. I would be a bitch and demand more money too if I was treated that way. And as he said, "Saban always said your just an actor, YOU CAN be replaced." And that is exactly what Saban did, to everyone.

  • @kdai2012 you mind providing the link to the source for that?

  • @SnakeSkin950 I am not going to search the thousand videos I watched of JDF, just saying that. I watched that video years ago, so no I cannot.

  • at 3:23 when he looks at the camera, i got a flash back into the eyes of young billy. inspiration to me :)

  • I think David Yost is one of my favorite people ever.

I don't know if he held is tongue out of politeness or because he still works in that industry and doesn't want to burn bridges, but Haim Saban is an asshole, with no respect for anyone.

The Japan's are notoriously savvy, but I know many of their people are intimidated by and scared to work with Saban.

  • Wow. I never knew he was gay. Not that it matters. I always felt the Blue Ranger was the glue that held all the others together. BLUE FOR LIFE!!

  • Prejudice is worse than anything Lord Zedd ever made! It needs to go.

  • WOW thats hella fucked up! shame on u crew!

  • Damn crew......

  • Whoa that's pretty messed up. It makes sense now, seeing how AGED he looks now and noticing he never smiled like the other cast during Power Rangers interview and bloopers. His personal life pressure was translating behind screen.

  • PINK RANGER

  • The series/franchise would have benefited so much if Yost had been a director. He should still consider it. I think there is a desperate need for stories about gay heroes children's media. Please make this happen on Power Rangers. It would be my dream.

  • I cant believe they did that to him, those fuckers

  • This is what happens when you make an american version of an cool Japanese Super Sentai. No mattered their differences, the japanese always showed respect to one another in the set. The fact he is gay does not affect his actor skills, once great actors like Ian Mckellen are gayer as well, an remain being great actors.

I believe that in fact, the producers were attempting morally to make him quit the show, just to not pay his rights. Here in Brasil, we have Work Laws that does not allow that.

  • hmmmmm... Boiola!

  • great person

  • IT'S MORPHING TIME!

  • SO THAT'S WHY YOU LEFT. i was truly sad you left David Yost. THOSE PRODUCERS/WRITERS/DIRECTORS SHOULD GET THEIR ASSES KICK & FIRED FOR CALLING YOU FAGGOT, their bunch of DUMB ASSES. You were the last original TRUE BLUE RANGER. And I bow DOWN TO U don't care what you are. YOU'RE A POWER RANGER.

  • @genestarwindjf80 :( I totally agree, I always wondered what happened to him and hearing his story and how he was treated I was pissed. He was awesome and Power Ranger was never the same with out him... Forever BILLY the original Blue Ranger <3

  • He is gay

  • @valine0 yes he is...

  • Omg he is old

  • He apparently used to go to my church. He used to play with the kids there, including my older brother. He was a genuinely nice guy, from what I hear.

He deserved better than this. As someone else who is still having to hide his bisexual nature, I'm just glad he was able to find peace to some degree.

  • This dude should get all the awards. You go David Yost! I freaking love him...

  • David Yost should do those "It Gets Better" ad things

  • he was often called a "faggot"

  • @coolplomp you are a faggot, don't you see he has a horrible time when people say he's a faggot, don't you have feelings or someting? =SS - yost you still the best blue ranger noamther what people say about your sexuality =)

  • @Bluewatergirl02 you a faggot

  • what a truly nice person.

  • Pretty horrific this was all occurring behind the scenes of a show millions of children watched.

  • I feel so so sorry for you David :-(.

  • I guessed that he's enjoyed being a Power Ranger until that moment..

    Stupid PR crew members!

  • Best Wishes!

  • It's a real shame what happened to him but he's done really well to get through it with such dignity. All I can say is, Go Go Power Ranger!

  • This video always touches me because I've been through most of David's problems. But he was already adult in the 1990s, when things were harder for gay people than still are. I was less than 10 years old when he was playing Billy. Now I'm same age he was when played Billy and live in a little easier time, at least ignorant people are less bold now.

I just hope David is happy now. The interview opened scars, that's why he was sad, but I hope, apart from this, he's just fine. He deserves.

  • I first saw this interview many months ago and soon put it in my favorite list. David is so sensible in this interview... Well, the questions touched his scars. I hope we can see him happier soon in another interview or acting again, he's got talent and deserves.

  • I always thought he was a geek but that's all i ever thought I never expected the gay part he was my brothers favorite but he doesn't deserve that.

  • pricks

  • David, you are THE BEST,

  • wow... ive always liked theblue ranger. but now to hear what hes been through and all thestuff he's put up with.it makes me respect him even more.

    kudos david always a favorite

  • So I was just randomly skipping through YouTube videos, trying to re-live my childhood videos, and I came to this.

Honestly, this could be one of the most moving pieces of film that I have ever watched. Usually one who is good with words, I can honestly say that I cannot describe how confronting this was for me - to think that one of my childhood heroes was tormented in such an arcane manor. I'm going to be sharing this video with the world.

Thank you for your honesty and bravery, blue Ranger.

  • Wow.... That's really fucked up about what really happened during and after he left the show. Being gay isn't actually a bad thing, it's people who refuse to accept the fact that gay and lesbian people are human beings like everyone else.

Anyway, he really seems to be a excellent person, and I'm glad he's found some peace in his life now, and I'm also glad he's doing well as a professional too. He'll always remain one of my all-time favorite PR actors.

    Don't stop being yourself, Dave.

  • Dave, you're selling yourself short by saying you're not as intelligent as Billy. Sure you're not as good with sciences, but you're smart enough to know how to be a good person, something that isn't in a textbook. What made MMPR special is your heart and soul, not Haim Saban's payroll. That's what is wrong with the newer PR series: it comes off of the Saban Assembly Line and has no soul to it. If you have a chance, read my letter that nopinkspandex gave you, and maybe write back too :)

  • Wow this was my favorite ranger ... To bad the way he left and it sucks he believed in God n things didn't change ... Now I'm a Christian n makes me feel bad someone i admire couldnt get the peace i have from God ... Ima pray for him ... God bless all

  • man, i admire this guy for his courage and honesty. in my eyes he always gonna be a power ranger, and one of my childhood heroes growing up. but to my bro david, i hope you keep strong and continue to live life well and to its fullest. glad that you was able to overcome ur obstacle and stayed positive onwards. just to let u know my football season was dedicated to my childhood heroes, with david and the rest of the mmpr cast on that list. i'm proud of u bud

  • I hope he can reappear in a gokaigers adaptation and people on set would give him respect and not insults

  • Man, he's gotten old.

  • As a kid you were one of my heroes, im 22, don't give a shit about your sexuality or anything, your still my hero in blue :) Greatest Blue Ranger of all time

  • Even without the power, He's still a super hero to us all. Thanks David. Always stay True blue

  • That's terrible. Those guys call themselves professionals and yet they would treat a 'co-worker' (weird I guess, applying this term to a crew - actor relationship but) that way. I def agree with some of the previous comments that say it all made you stronger Mr. Yost. Anyways thanks for the childhood memories! I remember dressing up as the blue ranger for Halloween when I was probably 6 yrs old! Ah the good old days!

  • Whoever called him a faggot is one and go to hell. He is the best power ranger alive

  • Sad during that time homophobia was still pretty prevalent

  • I wish I could be there to hug HIM! Tough life he had. I hope he knows all of the kids he inspired love and idolize him! He will always be the BEST blue ranger there ever was and a part of our childhood!

  • I can't believe the idiots who most likely pressured Yost to "pray away the Gay." Poor guy, I really feel for him having to deal with that king of hatred. Hands down he was the best Blue Ranger of all-time. No one can compare.

  • he still my favorite ranger.....i alwayz felt cool being smar cuz of billy

  • We always knew he was gay. Kids just didn't understand it.

  • hey yost

u alright man. its messed up that at the end of PR you had such a hard personal life. but i think it seems it made you stronger. of course as a guy and martial artist, JDF, Austin St. John, Johnny Booch were my faves but as a person u are deff a good guy

You seem to be a good motivational speaker. Keep it up, bro.

  • Gay Or Not, That doesnt matter. Best BLUE RANGER In HISTORY!!!!

    Keep It Blue David :D

  • @Elejonti1 I agree sir

  • omg all the power rangers are old lol

  • @91manzanita well....it was like 20 yrs ago lol

  • David Yost such a positive role model for life.

  • crazy i always thought david and thuy would have made a good couple

  • crazy i always thought david and thuy would have made a good couple

  • man he did not age well, look at that receding hairline! probably from all the stress he had to endure from the bigots of our time, good thing we live in 2011 where the only people under slanderus attack are the people from the middle east! GOD BLESS THE U.S. of A(holes)

  • Always be the Blue Ranger and Superhero to me.You also seem to be a great person to me. Best Wishes David.

  • Comment removed

  • That such rampant homophobia still exist disgusts and disturbs me. Thanks for being strong, David.

  • i don't care if your gay or not, forget them you didn't deserve that but remember you will always be the best BLUE ranger of all time

  • boy has he aged...

  • billy has really let him self go.

  • David, I identified with your character the most. I was a geek and a nerd as a child. I also was a lot like you being that I am a transwoman. Thank you for having the courage to be yourself. It means a lot to someone like myself to know that you are still around and can accept who you are. To me you are a true hero and though you probably won't ever read this. Thank you for being you.

  • Wow. I got chills. I know that David will probably never read these comments, but I have to write this. Power Rangers was a huge part of my childhood, and Billy, being the nerd, was the one I identified with the most. David, all of us who loved Power Rangers love you, no matter what our race, gender, sexuality, or creed... the sane ones, anyway. Keep fighting the good fight, and thanks for all you've done for us lonely kids.

  • Somebody said the actor who played rocky was gay

  • I love you David. You're words are sure to inspire many that follow. :) Stay sweet and take care. *hugs* Your fans will always be there for you! *mwah*

  • I never even knew about any of this until recently, and it always infuriates me when people are being judged based on anything, whether it is sexuality, different beliefs, or just considered not being "normal" by their standards. It's unfortunate that he had to leave the show the way he did, considering the way he was being treated, but I am very happy to hear that he's doing well in the entertainment industry and that he has found peace in himself. He is an inspiration to us all :)

  • Damn. didn't even know all that. Hope he's ok.

  • @ZaneHitsurgi Dont be ignorant, leave your negative comments to yourself he`s trying to help people out

  • this made me cry. I may not support the lifestyle but he should never had to go through that i understand walter jones but not David

  • I hope David Yost becomes even bigger in the entertainment business. That'll show the non-believers what people like him can really do when they're not held back by sexuality restrictions.

  • Fucking sucks that people treated him like shit, when he seems like such a great guy to just shoot the shit with. Seems like a legit great dude, and props for over coming everything!

  • What!!!! Mind=blown

  • Seems like a great person.

  • there are alot of awesome gay people this guy rob halford from Judas priest rip taylor liberace and many others.

  • he is the editor for play boy i had no idea he was gay

  • David... You are an amazing person and i am one of your biggest fans. You are a great person and even if people make fun of you, threaten you, call you names that doesnt make them good people. Your a great guy.

  • billy can relate to so many people with personality to have some call u this is something else

  • its nice to see the oringal rangers ever now and just see what there doing now there no longer doing show billy had biggest power helemt for longest time at my place made of staraform

  • he's gay and I'm straight but he's still my fucking favorite power ranger

  • I'm sorry that those bigoted morons affected you like that. I like you a lot more now. Please tell me Amy Jo Johnson isn't bigoted. That would break my heart.

  • i love you soo much man you r a amazing guy
