  • HES GOD

  • such a solid drummer,. my hell he was spot on in Dire Straits album On Every Street. REST IN PEACE JEFF YOUR GROOVE LIVES ON!

  • Jeff is the man... what snare is this?? sound amazing!

  • Not sure WTF ghosting a triplet is, but damn that sounds dope.

  • I'm not a drummer... i'm bassist. BUT i'm saying...... That's what I can call a Groove! Those ghost notes will kill my brains! :D

  • "Basically" like this... :)

  • Jeff should have laid off the burritos before hand.

  • "It puts the lotion in the basket."

    No, but seriously great drumming.

  • @StoobyToons Hahahahahahahahaha I know what you are talking about. What a great remark. I`m envious with you that I didn`t think of this before you did. RESPECT!!

  • Jeff Porcaro is a drum legend. Toto isn't the same without him.

  • hey, isn't that Schnee's room?

  • Gracias por tu magia!!!

  • JEFF IT'S SIMPLY THE BEST =)

    I LOVE TOTO =) =)

  • Great snare drum sound! Very crisp, bright interplay between the hi hat and snare drum, and very clearly explained. It's too bad Jeff died as young as he did, he seemed like a cool guy.

  • that is a legit snare sound.... that whole kit is just HEAVenlY

  • I think I could listen to that beat all day... : )

  • god that snare sounds phenomenal.

  • The shuffle to end all shuffles!

  • He's got four limbs doing different things and it's all coordinated in his head. SHEER TALENT!!

  • Gran batterista. I Toto mi piacevano fino ai primi 4 cd poi si sono un po troppo ripetuti. Comunque musicisti di buon calibro sicuramente.

  • Master!!!!

  • Simply unreal. Makes it looks so easy because for him it was. I miss him a lot.

  • Makes it look easy, RIP Jeff

  • He is the master and Toto one of my favorite bands!! Amazing

  • Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love Love

  • Porcaro is a genius

  • @kamurandeliormnli Well he was a genius....absolutely fantastic player and the music world stills misses him so!

  • He was fantastic - the sound is huge

  • Loved that drummer one of he best........great on Boz Skaggs' "Dirty Lowdown"

  • When he says "something like this" he really means "Exactly like this"

  • @squawkinpuss Agreed. And I love "basically" too. Good one der Coach Squawk.

  • Well explained, hard to master!

  • Probably in the top five best drummers ever. R.I.P. Jeff ....thanks for your contribution of the fine art of finesse drumming.

  • fool in the rain has a different high hat pattern.the hat is open/shut on the 3 and/upbeat (clutched?).This is great but there is sumpin magic about the way Bonham does it...

  • Jeff played on numerous recordings such as "Beat It, Human Nature, The Girl Is Mine" by Michael Jackson, "When A Man Loves A Woman" by Michael Bolton, "Like A Prayer" by Madonna, "Human Touch" by Bruce Springsteen, "Unison" by Celine Dion and played with musicians such as Michael McDonald, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Aretha Franklin, Al Jarreau, George Benson and many many more. He is probably the world's top drummers of all time in pop and rock genre. Only a fool would say otherwise.

  • @mrjazzguy92 Great post. One of my favorite albums he played on was Dire Straits "On Every Street". Fricken' brilliant.

  • I'm certainly not a drummer but dealt with many. This is simply brilliant and sounds great. Man I wish Porcaro was still around....Toto was an outrageously great band! And I'm glad Boz still keeps his music going because he's fantastic!

  • one word: snare

  • @jts024 I was thinking the exact same thing. That snare is just perfect. Anyone know what it is?

  • The explanation makes it sound more difficult than it is.

Just listen, never mind the bs beat explanations.

  • the only one on youtube plays it corectly.RIP jeff.

  • the biggest shuffle troll ever

  • sick

  • Is amazing how he relies and blends the styles of two very different drummers such as Bernanrd Purdie and John Bonham to achieve a new and ultimate "hybrid" as he calls it... THAT just happen when you are a true musician from blood and guts.

My most sincere respects for Jeff Porcaro.

  • Learning from a LEGEND!

  • so what IS the bo diddly figure now???

    00:37 or 01:37

  • @bclaus0

    basically the one around 0:37

he does a variation once in a while

  • how come nobody talks about him

  • Outstanding. We all miss you Jeff.

  • I learned this groove from this very video. I have worn out my copy on VHS. It is my favorite grove to play. I have mastered it. I have mastered the quarter note high hat thing (Jeff plays at the end of video) but I personally think that it detracts from the half time feel of the grove making it sound sloppy or too busy.

  • Great

  • He was an awesome drummer and that kit sounds amazing.

  • @uofm97 So right about the kit, SOUNDS SO AWESOME!

  • Too bad he wasn't on stage in that famous '89 Buddy Rich concert with Steve Gadd, Vinnie, and Dave Weckl. That concert would still be going on, and I'd want to hear every beat.

  • gooooooood

  • Killer drum tuning and sound. Even better groove. He was a master.

  • This is the first drum video I ever got, when I was 12! Jeff was such a groove master...

  • @mootbooxle omg, isn't he the groove master is right. jeff porcaro is simply amazing. R.I.P. JEFF.
