What a trip this melody sound exactly like Stewball (Was A Race Horse) by Peter Paul and Mary. My last comment, the information, I got from A book called The Lives Of John Lennon by Albert Goldman.
@josefernandogamboa Thanks, yes, I covered Stewball as well, and was told by a very good source that the melody for Happy Xmas came from Stewball. Sounds like an interesting book. 8o)
'The Lives of John Lennon' has a dark reputation for being a complete distortion of the truth about the late John Lennon. 'Interesting' is one way to describe it. 'Piece of crap' is another. Albert Goldman wrote a similar "tell-all" about the late Elvis Presely and was planning another about the late Jim Morrison when Goldman himself became 'belated'. U2 bashed Goldman in their song 'God Pt. II'. It's high time someone wrote a book about HIM.
Thanks for the lesson. I know how to play it now. You did a great cover. Beauitful. When I play it I feel like John Lennon. Did you know John Lennon used this song as a corner stone to write Happy Xmas (War is Over)? Phil Spector exploded: "That's a direct steel from my 1961 hit with the Paris Sister, 'I Love How You Love Me'!" As John always said, "There's nothing wrong with stealing, providing you steal from the best."
@josefernandogamboa Hey, that's great if you learned to play this from me. I've learned so much from others here on youtube, and it feels great to pay it forward. Oh, I can see the similarity to Happy Xmas - interesting. From what I understand, there is no copyright on chord sequence, but yes - there would be on melody. Thanks for your interesting comments. 8o)
Wow..... such a powerful and crisp sound..... Maybe a condenser mic now ?.... they are more sensative..... Mine picks up my comp fan... and local trains Ugh!!
Good job and a big improvement in recording quality
Hey thanks, Leo. Yes, I've got to experiment with this - going to try my laptop next time, see if that helps, without the noisy pc. No trains close by, thank goodness. You come up with a great sound, no matter what mic, though. Thanks for the encouragement. 8o)
With any kind of tech improvements there is usually a bit more to learn.
I have recently bought a similar mic.... and trying to get some warmth with it... still learning.... not happy yet.... Im sure it will all be worth it in the end.
Wow! You've been busy here, sounds really good. Nicely done with the accompaniment and vocals.
Looks like you got a new mic, I think it sounds pretty good. Is it picking up the guitar too or just the vocals?
Those mics are very good, very sensitive and usually require phantom power, some mics have their own phantom power source. If you're concerned about the hiss you may have to back off on the trim and get closer to the mic.
Unless your in a room that's acoustically treated to be a "dead" room, then you can crank that trim to the max and you'll capture all the great sound of your voice and what ever else you record with out the noise of the room itself.
it's a business office lol. And I have a noisy humming pc which I don't think my old mic picked up but this one does. I was going mic & guitar lines into Roland Street Cube Amp (adding a little reverb there) and then into a digi recorder/headphones, then usb to pc. Now, I've ordered a mixer, which I think can go straight to pc, but until the mixer gets here, I've got my old setup, with phantom power adapter. mic is now picking up a bit of guitar. talk Friday if I can get rid of skype noise!
Ah, Ed - you've come to my rescue - bless you. I am so frustrated & confused with this new setup. I have a whole new set of problems. I might end up sending the mic back, as I don't know if I can truly get the value out of it. It's definitely better than the old, but now I have to learn things like trim - what the heck is that. I will analyze what you've told me here, and we'll talk more on Friday!! Thanks so much!!!
Your sweet and sensitive, acoustically stripped-down and direct guitar instrumental serves as the perfect compliment to your in proper range and angelic vibrato!
You have a beautiful voice. Very nice and sweet job there. Keep it up.

Great job. This is a wonderful old song. I've thought about recording it myself. Not sure I can do it justice though.
