Marian idolatry does not exist. While it is true that we pray to Mary, It is through the belief that her connection with christ will help us to become closer with Christ ourselves. @wizzy2k4: Well, I wouldnt consider it that way. What we believe is that they are still alive, in that since they have accepeted Jesus as their savior, they never died. Just as the thief next to Jesus accepted him, he went to paradise. Yet, for protestants they consider that when people die that they do not go to heaven automatically and that they just fall asleep, until Jesus comes back and resurrects us physically. Overall, as a catholic, I dont have to talk to them, it isnt forced upon me.

That wasn't the focal point of my question. You said you pray to them to help you pray, this is not biblical. Off course, Christ followers never dies for we are promised eternal life, but i'm pretty sure Mary or Peter can't help you pray. "Like come one Jesus, he said he was sorry." then that would dismiss the idea of the relationship between you and God and Christ. Since Mary is alive and since she is my friend within the body of christ, then she will pray for me. It's the same as you asking your brother to pray for you. Also in that same regard lets say my friend matt prays with me in church, well even though we both pray for each other, those prayers are primarily toward Jesus.. Iam not giving my prayers to him to say, we pray together.

Finally The magistrate in my opinion, is fallible. I myself do not like several of the new "papal policies". This is once again a pending issue in the church. But John Paul II was in my opinion one of the most spiritually gifted and understanding people to walk this earth.

I beleive that the magistrate is considered to be infallible due to Peter's Christ given position as the first pope of the Catholic church ( not Roman because the Schism did not occur until around the time of the Protestant Revolution).

1. They contradict the Holy Scripture.

2. The use of these traditions affect the spreading of the gospel (thisveries according to the context on where are you preaching)
