This is really silly music. I used to like this guy when I was younger, but now as an adult I see that he was just a simple minded and minimally educated fundamentalist with long hair. He seems like a sweet guy though, and obviously a good songwriter...I hope he enjoyed his time here.
This song is silly. His music, as a whole was far from silly or simple minded. You would hard-pressed to find a song deeper than "I wish We'd all been Ready" or "The Outlaw."
I've enjoyed Larry's music for decades. But I am sad by the "churchianity" treatment around the fact that, after helping launch Randy Stonehill's career, Randy's wife divorced him after falling in love and then "marrying" Larry. Where was the light of truthful treatment, of "Jesus People" honesty? And what are the future ripple effects in terms of legacy and witness to others? Nevertheless, what a gifted artist.
What a powerful influence! Not only for me musically, but for the "church" at large... if we could only learn to be as relevant as he was in his day...
Don't get me wrong, I do really love what he did. UFO is an outstanding track for one and translates well live. I have heard some not so good live deliveries from some of my other highly respected artists.
Actually, it was given front page space in the Entertainment section of USAToday newspaper the day after he died. I was in a hotel and caught it and choked on my coffee in front of my work mates.
what is really thought provoking is this - he sang so good while on this earth, how much greater will he sing in Heaven, when he is in the presence of the Lord. I can't wait to see.
precious in the sight of the lord is the death of his saints. o lord trueley i am your servant... thou hast loosed my bonds. psalms 116:15-16 enter into your rest larry you have blessed many
So many common folk loved Larry, like no other artist. He was a true servant of the people and of the Lord. He will be missed for a long time to come by fans around the globe.
Wow, two of xtian music's best yet underappreciated personalities sharing a stage together... never thought i'd see or hear something like this. Thanks for posting it!

That was Larry's style - unpolished & genuine.

Still a great song... Larry started it all... even with Roe as a distraction, Larry seems like a raving lunatic.

This is from my home town of Eugene, Oregon. Mike Roe was doing a set in town and Larry Norman drove down from his home in Salem, OR.

This is so good!!!! Let's never forget his true humility!
I love U Larry! You taught me so much through my youth, and now when I'm grown I hope and pray that I'll always keep the same spirit.
We can all still learn from your songs and your way of being human.
Say hi to Jesus and Dad from me, and give then a hug... if that's possible upthere.
Love

To see such a great artist as Mike Roe sitting in the background and letting another take the lead proves just how great Larry Norman was.
