Vajza (girl in albanian) arvanite, there is no such thing as greek arvanit, there is only arvanite.

Eroshi, vajza may mean girl in albanian, but that has nothing to do with it. Its a local language that people where brought up with. In northern greece they speak a dialect quite similar to that of Fyrom...doesnt mean they are from Fyrom. In Thrace some speak dialect close to that of Bulgarian or even Turkish...doesnt mean they are Bulgarian or Turkish.

An Arvaniti could be Greek or Albanian as there is a crossing of cultures.

However these songs in particular are being sung by Greeks.

Pay attention: Arvanite is not a local language, but it's a variant of tosk ALBANIAN! Ask any linguist about this! Second I understand the song pefectly, and you a greek don't understand it at all.

Third, the person singing this might be a greek CITIZEN, but by blood culture and language he is Albanian, just like all Arvanites.

What do you mean by "dialect"? Are you saying Arvanitika is a dialect of Greek? Lol. Its actually a dialect of Albanian, which, through historic influence, has come to sound similar to Greek. Those Bulgarians in the north are a minority of Slavic speakers called (disparagingly) Vulgari. If the Greek sounds similar to Bulgarian-FYROM Slavic its because of the sprachbund effect, but nobody doubts that it would still be Greek nevertheless. This is an Albanian language though...

I live in USA and gat chance to meet This two elderly Albanian couples(their parents come from northern Grece), they both were born here they are on their 80s and they knuw NOLI and his family they also atend his church, they are very proud of their Albanian heritage and never say their are Greek!
