  • fuck the royal mail, privatise , the fuckers , and sack these fuckers

  • Isee that cock sucker COLSH1690 is posting his crap again!

  • We used to have an excellent service till it was "better managed".

This Govt have wrecked this firm and are annoyed that its value may have fallen pre sell off.. Its the RM today who knows what it will tommorrow.??? Both parties are lining up big sell offs... And no I am not a postie

  • do not capitulate, this is about privatisation and we've seen how well that's gone haven't we

  • Losing the Amazon contract might be reward enough for going on strike! Bloody amazon packets! (JOKE)

  • company's like t.n.t ,uk mail + others are kidding themselves on. buisness won't continue to pay their prices long term.ask yourself why have they stuck with royal mail this long? royal-mail prices are the lowest in europe.company's like amazon are not going to switch to private couriers long term to costly.

  • They've stuck with RM they are stuck to RM. RM have a monopoly over small items. My career is working for mail order companies. This week I programmed our system to go all courier rather than part 1st-class/courier and my boss has confirmed we aren't going back. Customers like tracked/fast delivery and are willing to pay. Some will go back, some won't. Couriers are LOVING the new business going their way for people to test their services.

  • I'm just offering you some advice: you strikers really cannot expect this strike to have positive effects rather than negative effects. I'm a developer for an Internet retailer and today I did all the code changes so which switch from partial Royal Mail/Courier to full courier. It's more expensive but people buying online like fast delivery and next day tracking. It took me hours. I promise you, we will not be reversing back to 1st class again. Couriers are lapping up the opportunity for new biz

  • Hahaha Christ mate...do you want the business or not? Evidently not.

  • stay united..............

  • they say all out strike, they say it could cost the country 1.5 billion, they say small companys could go to the wall, they say it's our fault. BUT NO IT'S NOT, MANAGEMENT ONLY NEED TO AGREE TO TALKS TO STOP THIS, IF THE ECONOMY WILL LOSE 1.5 BILLION IT JUST SHOWS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO KEEP ROYAL MAIL FULLY STAFFED AND FULL-TIME, DON'T LET THEM DESTROY ROYAL MAIL JUST TO MAKE THE GOVERNMENT MONEY AND MAKE IT EASY TO SELL! SUPPORT YOUR POSTIES.

  • It's costing millions because it's a sudden change with practically zero warning that cannot be adapted to quickly enough - there is a monopoly on 1st class. Some sort of modernisation would be gradual. That's why it would cost millions. I know one of the sales managers from DPD...why do you think he's smiling? He's getting tons of new custom and they won't all return to 1st class. Online retailers don't mind paying more because customers LOVE order tracking and fast delivery. It's free advice.

  • railways.gas, electricity, water next royal-mail.will we ever learn? postal workers are fighting to save this service.new-labour including alan johnson remember him used to be a postie have stabbed postal workers in the back.

  • royal-mail with the backing of new-labour have destroyed the postal service in this country.fact.

  • Dont forget, just vote YES

  • 10ish years ago the ROYAL MAIL delivered between 97 & 99 % of 1st mail the next day. Most posties are hard working - most managers sexist, racist and bullies. I left after 9 years employment there - I saw the managers steal money that was lost in the post. Had RM been left as it was customers would be getting the level of service they deserve & posties would be on better money as they were 10 years ago! GOOD LUCK with the STRIKE! AND it was the managers who were fiddling their overtime claims!

  • alans too busy furnishing his pink wardrobe to negotiate

  • the british watcher u are a buffoon if we all sat there and done what we were told for worse conditions hitler would be judging x factor and maggie thatcher would be hosting big brother U R AN EEJIT.

  • when the royal mail is gone ,get ready to pay prices you thought would never happen,JOE PUBLIC back the CWU because if you do not, there will be no royal mail, you will be paying 70p to send a post card, like they do in denmark.one of the cheapests countries in europe for sending post.

  • think you seem to forget , these other companys that the business goes to needs the posties to deliver their mail also , cos they just give it to us for a nominal fee , thats the agreement from the top , so they have sold themselves down the river , and the posties have got to pay the price for their failure , they should have told these other companys at the start , to do it themselves

so i say keep up the fight , we will get there!!

  • We posties agree with that. But that's up to Royal Mail isn't it.

  • No, its up to the Royal Mail staff and the Trade Union. You guys are destroying the Royal Mail every day this strike goes on, its all very well saying they are making million pound profits, by the time you're finished and all the businesses find another company to replace The RM its the workers that are going to lose out.

Accept reform, end the strikes, and get back to work. Failure to do so will simply lead to the destruction of the Royal Mail monopoly and 1000s more jobs axed.

  • If everyone had your attitude we'd still be sending kids up chimneys. Unfortunately for you some of us are prepared to stand up against injustice. We're not going to stand back and let them attack our working conditions, pay, pensions etc just so a small group of business men can make their millions.

  • "Failure to do so will simply lead to the destruction of the Royal Mail monopoly and 1000s more jobs axed."

...an empty threat if there ever was one.

All national mail monopolies will end by 2011, courtesy of the EU, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that sooner or later, the Royal Mail and anything state-owned, in the UK and elsewhere, will be privatised. And then it's goodbye to any leverage you once had.

I say, FIGHT while you still can.
