Fujimori didn´t held Peruvians back, he actually saved us from extreme poverty and terrorism. I only mentioned Fujimora because of the latest events surrounding his "power." He did indeed change Peru's economy, but the question is, at what Human Rights price? Not trying to throw stones, but I am tired of people like Intruder denouncing USA. It is, IMHO, jealousy that drives those comments. Again, I ask why the need to bash the USA? In fact, why bash anyone? Lastly, what do you mean by power? Economic, political, religous, control of one's own destiny, etc.?

...so far I´ve seen great displays of power from the people who rule the USA, but not from the people who live in the USA, they seem almost like pawns. Im not saying everyone, but most of them, the average, seem to be a little brainwashed. They are controled in a much more subtle way than third world countries rulers can afford.

Redmoonx - Those are actually good responses. Not the usual vitriolic criticism found in here. I have been to Peru on several ocassions and found it to be a warm and friendly place. Like the USA, the "common" person would seem to be a pawn. That's to be expected in every country. The "leaders" have the most power.
