this even aired in belgium. saw it when i was a young kid. made me gave up my dreams of being a garbage man and from then on i wanted to become a bike courier. now that i'm seriously into fixed gear bikes that dream is coming back again^^
this was actually the first episode of the season and not the pilot. would love to see any of the others ones. at least 8 aired. it was fun to be a part of.
I'm one of the messengers in the opening credits. we did this in late spring of 1993. Spike Jonze was the director of the credit sequence. The Beastie Boys Sabotage was about to be released and launch his career. We went around NYC for 3 days and Spike sat on the loading ramp of a U-Haul cube truck, rode his skate board alongside us, or road a bike rigged with a front mounted camera. This was shot on film, we were doing it all on the fly without film permits.
@cmc2131 I always loved this shortlived series opening & actually the series. I remember this was near the end of the first time period when I could ride a bike here in Atlanta area when we still lived in downtown Decatur -- instead of moving in April 1997 to Northlake area which wasn't nearly as safe a place back then as it is kind of now (still not totally a safe of area, but more car drivers are cognizant of us now than they were then. I recently took back up bike riding for health & fun.)
@sneezyize I always thought it would have been cool to have been a bike messenger because of this opening that I'm going to share soon on my blog! Thank you to Hausel for being one of the bike messengers in this opening.
Having been a bike courier for eight years (in DC) I can tell you we didn't hang out at the office unless it was payday. But I suppose there wouldn't be many laughs if the show were about messengers riding through traffic.
i remember this show. never saw it until now. it lasted only four episodes and then went away. i knew a bunch of mesengers back then. so, finally a joke:
what do you call a messenger that breaks up with his girl friend?

@sneezyize And btw, I've recently returned to the ranks of bike ridership here in Atlanta (although I never lost my love of it.)
