  • just because you're a patton fan doesn't mean you gotta blindly try to defend what he says and/or start having a go at INXS. they made some fucken awesome songs. faith no more did too. both great. and the greatest thing about FNM is their diversity. pattons voice alone has such a great range and moods to it. fuck me their biggest song ever is 'easy.' considered a pop hit. played on the same stations as INXS. INXS would have always been fans. no need for the hate. (mainly directed at trauv).

  • Being a fan of both INXS and everything Patton (except Fantomas) I would have loved to have seen what he could have done with them on one album. Mike can fit any musical mold and anyone who thinks he wouldn't have been able to do some amazing stuff needs to familiarize themselves with his work. And also go listen to some INXS.

  • @themediaprophet except fantomas? pleazzzze!!!! he worked with the MELVINS!!!! THE GREAT PATTON AND THE MELVINS!!!! gosh, charlie no one appreciates anything.

  • I think the main point is being missed here.

WHY THE FUCK WOULD INXS THINK MIKE PATTON WAS A FIT FOR THEM??

  • fuck mike patton

  • it's funny, but even if it wasn't, he can say anything he wants cuz he's better

  • Wow, Mike Patton never stops being a dickhead. Even when there's no reason to be.

  • It's not because you are an INXS fan and cry the death of Michael that you have to shit over Mike Patton for thinking he wasn't fir for the job. His musical style and way of seeing music is far from the pop style of INXS, so in my humble opinion, he made everyone a favor by declining that offer.....

  • Ahahahaha, the cunt singer from that band hung himself

  • @haledos maybe you should follow suit, pudgefuck

  • @Naz67

    Ahahaha Naz67 is a faggot.

  • Cool man!!! Never sold out.....

  • would of been interesting

  • you people would have to first understand and appreciate the disdain that patton has for these typical drug abusing reckless rock star types. then you also have to understand that (as he mentioned in this interview) he really doesnt care at all about what you think of what he thinks.

  • if you cant see the humor in this you've got problems

  • I love ol Mike, I grew up listening to his music, I'm 29 and have been very fortunate to meet him. He's got a rotten sense of humor. A lot of people do, it's harmless! It's not like if anybody makes a rotten joke about a dead person its not the same thing as pissing on their grave. Although, I would piss on someones grave.

  • @pmurder81 Wanting to piss on someone's grave isn't a very good thing to admit.

  • I didn't need to hear the joke at the end but the idea of Mike Patton being offered the post IS really funny.

  • I love Mike Patton so much but even I felt bad when he made that joke D:

  • Mike Patton rules the musical world and it's absolutely hilarious to even think he would join INXS. INXS was great back in the day. Patton was great then and better now. Seriously, what were the Ferriss brothers thinking?? I guess it's pretty obvious where the talent was with INXS...someone get 5 more belts.

  • @vbeek2002 I think you just got it! It is obvious where the talent was with Inxs... that is why this cruel comment offended so many people. Like it or not Michael was, is and will always be INXS. For Patton to make this comment about a fellow vocalist who died (and in such a shocking way by committiing suicide) is so disrespectful -Patton should have had some class and omitted that comment by shutting his mouth sooner! I will never listen to Patton's music again he makes me ill!

  • @5954ldydi Well, not really suicide. He was choking himself while beating off and slipped off the chair. True.

  • @vbeek2002 Do your research... and I do not mean the tabloids or crazy Paula Yates who in her final years had to make up stories to sell to survive since Michael's estate was deemed worth a few hundreds of dollars. His assets, property and royalty rights were not included in the will... long story. There is an official corners report online. Michael reached out to a couple of people mere minutes before taking his life. You do not want a wank when you are taking heavy amouts of antidepressants

  • People have to understand Patton is anti-norm and has a dark sense of humor. The fact that a big band like Inxs asked a smaller artist to play for them, especially one who hates generic music.

  • michael died while wanking which made it world news, INXS will go down as one of the worst bands of all time they are known because michael the singer who died wanking(LMAO) was in the gossip section of the newspaper for who he dated the talentless lip syncher who doesnt write her own songs mingoue and nutcase geldof.

He named his baby heaven tiger lily for christ sake LMAO

Im so glad INXS carried on through a REALITY TV SHOW again LMAO while oasis sold out three nights at wembley in 09.

  • @trauv *Sigh* Bad trolling attempt, son.

  • @trauv "The worst bands of all time", you say?

Then why have they sold 30 million records?

    You're a fuckwit.

  • @Lunchb0xbadger well said, Inxs would wipe the floor with any band!

  • @Lunchb0xbadger 30 million tampons have sold in the world too.

  • @SmittyHeWasNumber1 Yeah, but no one forces you to buy an INXS album once a month.

  • @trauv yeh, cause inxs never sold out venues???? twat!

  • He should have made a record with the inxs guys.

  • patton,s such a dick.

  • @joharpo Yeah, and that's why we love him. He goes straight, never kissing nobody's ass

  • i love INXS and i dont think much of Faith No More, but MP makin a comment about a belt is just disgusting, proves he is a total prick, even if he wud have been a bad choice for INXS!

  • @supermandave78 It's called free speech you idiot. What's disgusting is the fact that they asked him without any research whatsoever. They obviously only did it because Patton was in a successful band.

  • @bobokk its well seen that u are calling me an idiot sittin behind a pc, u r so brave! come to glasgow scotland and meet me, then call me an idiot! twat!

  • @supermandave78 You're an idiot for posting your previous comment. I have no intention of going to a shithole like Glasgow even if I was paid.

  • Comment removed

  • @bobokk again, name calling from behind a computer, haha.

  • @supermandave78 Again, you refuse to acknowledge that you're wrong. From behind a computer as everyone, by definition, is.

  • I must admit I did not believe this clip (and my posts are on here saying so) but now that I see who the remaining members of Inxs are having as guest vocalist on a new CD it all makes sense now. They are greedy not in it for the music anymore. They made a big mistake doing the Rock Star TV show to replace Michael and now they are way in left field somewhere. It is a shame because they are (WERE) a good band.

  • I like Michael Hutchence, love Mike Patton. For all the INXS fans, you got to admit, it was a stupid offer. Its two different sounds. Don't hate on Mike Patton, he is in a league that INXS never did nor ever will achieve.

  • @jerywilliams

Are you on crack? Who's Mike Patton? You were going along fine there until your patently false statement that Patton's in a league INXS never will be. How many albums has Patton sold? What's the biggest concert Patton ever played as the headliner. You don't get to write B.S. on YouTube and not get called out on it. So Patton felt he wasn't a good fit for INXS. Fine. It was still an honor to have a band as big as INXS express an interest in him.

  • @livininomaha What rock in the 1980's have you been hiding under? How many albums has Patton sold?Seriously? Not only did he have multi albums with FNM, he also fronted Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, and Tomahawk among other projects. Don't get me wrong, i like INXS but what the fuck else did they have success with besides the Kick album? Yeah it was cool that INXS wanted him as a frontman, but his style is like oranges and apples to them.i call you out on your b.s. of not knowing the sucess of FNM!!!!!!

  • LOL

  • The ultimate sign of disrespect was to keep the INXS gravy train rolling, even after Michael's death. He remains Australia's most underrated performer, & tragic victim of 'execution by media' (reflective of Australia's 'tall poppy syndrome' at the time).

In life, Michael seemed to come alive onstage. Totally at one with the music, his flamboyant sexuality contradicted his instinctive shyness. He proved that true performers are born, not made.

Michael Hutchence WAS INXS. NO MICHAEL = NO INXS.

  • What a sick M***** F*****! And for being in the music biz he is a very disrespectful little prick too. It is difficult for me to believe that this sick person was asked to fill in for Michael. The guy (whom I never ever heard of before) can not sing he can only scream and could never even begin to keep up with the touring schedule -his voice would not hold up. Not to mention the old INXS songs would sound like crap. There is just no way.

  • @ldydi5954 i totally agree....what is sad is i actually liked a few faith no more songs and after listening to this interview i will have nothing to do with anything mike patton related ever again. he is disgusting for what he said.

  • @ldydi5954 - you're clueless.

  • @Baldmelon You are intitled to your opinion... but I do not think this disrespectful screamer would sound good singing lead vocals for INXS. Oh and if you have listened to this video Mike Patton agree's with me. I can understand INXS asking Mike to be a special guest singing lead vocals (like they have and continue to do with lead singers from other bands) but I just can not see them asking Mike as a permanent replacement. Who know's INXS has just been money driven after Michael's death.

  • I like both bands , but what should happen is that INXS should stop looking for a singer to replace Michael Hutchence . They've been at it for the last 13 years ! Why can't they do something under a new name with a new singer . It's not INXS with HUTCH get that through your heads INXS !!!

And I like MIke Patton but the belt joke was a bit cruel .

  • @bronte29 I agree it is much too difficult to replace a front man like Michael. Not only did he sing well and have his own style loaded with charisma... he wrote most of the lyrics for the songs (after the first few LPs) and he was the voice for INXS in any of the newspaper, magazine articles and live interviews -simply put Michael did everything but play an instrument for the band. Michael simply played a very large part in INXS more than the other members!

  • @bronte29 I believe if INXS did rename the group and found the right person to sing lead vocals (someone who has paid their dues and is experienced but not too famous) perhaps someone who never has gotten reconized for thier vocals-and rename the group -they may have another chance to suceed. It may be too late but I agree this is thier only hope and the RIGHT thing to do. Sadly I think INXS the band is burnt out and I think they only care about money these days -not music!

  • @guitdude09

I agree with you ... just saying that Patton needn't have been such a smartass with the comment about the "tie" ... that's just stupid humour and not particularly elevating. My problem with Patton is that he never seems to really "mean" anything, it's always ironic and "he-he-he I'm just joking" ... which is fine if you're a comedian ... maybe that's a better definition of what he does ... comic rock. I enjoy Patton's music as a pleasant diversion but it doesn't move me.

  • @themancable Most of the interviews I've seen with him, he presents himself as a serious, thoughtful artist. He certainly doesn't exhibit this hipster irony and insouciance that you accuse him of.

But something like this: yeah, it would make a smartass out of lots of people, myself included. He's mellowed out quite a bit in his old age as well.

  • inxs blows anyways and rydan2002 tad random with oasis comment pretty good band btw better then a band that is remember for the most pathetic death ever

  • Patton's a smart ass but not very malevolent. He's just sorta like the guy in the classroom who always has a sarcastic comment ready for anything that is said. But so be it ... and he definitely would have been a poor match for INXS.

  • @themancable Poor match cause Mike is 10 000 times better vocalist, and its out of his music interests? Yes.

And can't believe that so many ppl here have such squeezed views.

And makes me feel that i have arguments with ppl so musically uneducated that there is no point to talk at all.

  • @IntegraTron2010

Too true, i think there would have been big personality clashes too.

Finally someone here who expresses thie thoughts in a respectful way to Michael H. but is also a Patton fan :)

You know it's weird, when i hear certain INXS songs, Michael Hutchence sounds quite similar to Mike P in some ways, esp. Elegantly Wasted. I think you're onto something there :)

  • Mike Patton is not only the greatest singer we have now (and please, before saying anything DO some research about the million genres this guy has covered being only 42 years old), but he is also the most hilarious son of a bitch there is xD.

You guys don't get it, he's just being HONEST, that's just the way he is! Patton speaks on public as any of us does privately. He's being sarcastic, get over it.

  • @rockforchoicee

I'm a Patton fan, have been for the past 17 years but the 'joke' was just distasteful. Mike can be a real douche and his fans just suck up to everything he says or does. Imagine someone saying that about of our you loved ones... not so 'funny' or 'sarcastic' then is it.

  • What Patton did wrong here? They (INXS) are stupid that they proposed something like that to Patton. I would do the same thing if i was on Mike's place.. I mean look back on Mike's projects, do you see anything what sounds like INXS? I mean its good that they didn't ask Zack de la Rocha.

  • @sapiigor

Well he was rude and made a joke about Michael Hutchences death for a start.

I'm sick of Patton fans thinking he is 'god', what he said was digusting.

If i were Patton i would flattered that a band wanted me, clearly the man has a bigger ego than most.

  • @froggy9191

I don't think that Mike is God. There is only one God!

INXS is way under Mike Patton music, and there is no reason for him to be flattered.

And you know what, im wondering is this really MIke talking or its a hoax.

  • @sapiigor

Glad you don't think he is a god, so many fans do and it's a bit annoying ;p

Depends on if you are a fan of INXS but... still a band asking him to sing for them is flattery, no matter who the band imho but each to their own :)

Though i do agree that he wouldn't have suited INXS.

  • @froggy9191

Thank God that you are normal person ;)

I mean im musician too.and MIke was my Biggest influence and he still is. I mean he is so talented and open minded. Most musicians are talented only for one genre or they force only one. But Mike is everywhere and he does everything high quality. He is into classical music, movie music, rap, trip hop, heavy metal, trash metal, rock, jazz, blues, experimental, and much much more.Thats what fascinates me about him. Just google about his work.

  • @sapiigor

    I try to be ;p

Yeah Mike is pretty awesome, i love his work in videogames too :D

  • @froggy9191

And as a matter of cruel joke, im that way too, but its just cause it falls right on my mind, not cause i wanna be mean or idiot, or cause im bad person ( i bealive im not). And thats what happened with MIke. He immidiatly said that. Thats a fucking cruel joke. Some ppl just like black/dark humor. Thats what it is. Its fucked up but its just a joke.

Not cause they are bad, mean, or idk whatever. It just falls on their mind.

  • @sapiigor

    @sapiigor

Fair enough man, i know Mike is pretty sardonic and sarcastic a lot of the time lol.

I still think the thing he said about the rope around his neck was pretty crude and not needed (or funny), but i still like Mike P's music. Thank god someone on here, yourself, says their opinion but is still respecful even if they don't agree :)

  • They are both incredible, but i don't think Patton would have suited INXS, personality wise, musical style, aesthetics, etc. Everyone stop slagging off both Patton and Hutchence, they are (were) both talented in their own right, i think Mike should have been a bit flattered at INXS asking him but really he was just honest (in his usual blunt way)... Geeze.

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with Mike. jeez... what the fuck were they thinking? Patton is on a completely different level than INXS. i personally thought it was an insult to ask him to be the lead singer.

  • @ronniepooch

    How is it an insult?

They obviously thought well enough of Patton to ask him.

  • mike patton is way ahead of whoever it is. seriously i like inxs but pattons voice is mindblowing

  • as if you can judge musical credibility by whether an artist has sold out a whole stadium...

  • i have to agree...what a completely stupid idea to think Patton would have interest in fronting INXS.That'd be like poison asking Eddie Vedder to join their washed up career...haha!

  • this guy better than Hutch?? get real. Who is he? he's a prick thats for sure.

  • @adiejk

Amen to that. I'm in TOTAL agreement, adiejk.

  • I love both Mike and INXS, but Patton as Michael Hutchence seems completely insane. I think that once Hutchence died they should've stopped making music because they're never gonna be the same.

  • @BrendonUrieYeahPanic

Totally agreed. Hutchence made INXS, the 'new' INXS is horrible without him :(

  • What a sorry ass! Has he ever sold out a stadium like Wembley? He should be flattered by such an offer.

  • Remember the concert when Patton peed on the audience - yeah, that's the kind of person he is...the R. Kelly peeing on little kids kind.

  • ahahahah why would a genius like Mike Patton waste his time in a band as shit as INXS they were shit while that peanut MH was alive and their even bigger fuckwits now!!!!!!! Jesus how funny i cant believe they were even able to get Mike Pattons Phone number they did well.. CLOWNS

  • @KYUSSREVOLVER

INXS 'were' a great aussie band in their time.

Personally i would be a bit flattered if i were Mike P if a band thought of me enough to ask me. But meh.

  • calling this guy a douche bag would be to kind. Just for the record NO ONE can fill Michael Hutchence shoes...especially a jerk like this.

  • No one can Fill a Coffin Like Michael Hutchence

  • @mrbobdob1 JERK Just remember karma is a bitch.....im just saying. Be careful of the fingers to step on, on the way to the top because they are attached to the faces you will see on your way back down.

  • Yeah Karma got Micheal Hutchence for being a no talent Junkie Sex Pervert

  • @mrbobdob1

    No talent...?

What planet are you from... Hutchence was a great singer and a loss to Aussie music. So what musician hasn't touched drugs and indulged in a little kinky stuff.

Let's not forget Mike Pattons dodgy 'activites' and like for asian porn...

  • Comment removed

  • Mike Patton - Hole in the ass...You've lost my respect, you can only kiss INXS in a butt !

  • That was awful. Patton has the personality of a hemorrhoid on Geldof's anus.

  • Might have been worse than JD...

  • oh..and why not get a new "singer" in just before 22 November..Really rub salt in the wounds! us true fans count for nothing now.. INXS will continue in their quest to wreck all the good things achieved with Michael.. and they don't give a fuck..as long as the ego's of INXS feed off Michaels memory..

  • Well, they have to put 30 years into it. And performing the songs does perpetuate Michael's legacy. They have done some nice tributes to Michael.

  • Michael's Legacy is in tact and his legend will live on, However the "tributes" have been used to premote themselves and pending albums. It's a pitty todays INXS didn't concern themselves with touring using different artists to express the work of Michael Hutchence this was an option they ignored. All INXS have done is try to recapture the glory days..and failed badly. and using Michaels name in a so called "tribute" just adds insult to injury. Yes Hutch should have tributes, but better ones.

  • I agree the idea of touring with different singers would have been a good one. I feel like the songs Andrew wrote for Michael came from his heart. He was always Michael's champion. He encouraged Michael to sing in the first place. Eulogized him at 2 services and dedicated many projects to him. The others..not so much. I concede. Don't wanna fight with a fellow 'Hutchy' Peace?? :)

  • Hey man we are cool.. glad you agree about the different artists thing..no one can ever be blamed then for trying to impersonate then..plus todays INXS keep some credability.. =)

  • INXS can't stop making shit choices!.. Michael Hutchence was INXS ! who's next on their list Bob geldof! you sad people.. you lost the plot..if "Rockstar Inxs " wasn't enough of an Insult to true INXS fans..now this! you remaining members of INXS want to realise once and for all.."NO MICHAEL..NO INXS! grow up..tour and make INXS a tribute band to Michael..use different vocalists to keep Michael's memory alive... not abuse his songs with "nobodys" trying to replace him! INXS of today suck.

  • What a stupid cunt. He's not even half the performer Michael was.

  • They're both great in their own right.

Mike Patton just would not fit in a pop band.

  • Yeah, he rubs it in a bit much.

  • @rydan2002

Agreed. He could have been more tactful about the whole thing... thought Pattons not usually known for being tactful unfortunately :s

  • Agreed. Patton's at least twenty times a BETTER performer than 'Hutchy'.

  • reply to residue, your comment says a lot about you , as you dont even know me, i dont judge you, but you judge me over a coment, sad man

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for putting this up. I never knew that INXS seriously considered asking Mike Patton to sing for them. I love both INXS and FNM - but to ask Patton to sing for FNM totally ludicrous. As Patten said they were fishing in the wrong pond.

  • Oh thank god he said no!

  • The idea is ridiculous.

  • PS. The joke about the thing around his neck is disgusting. I'm so tired of people using Michael's suicide as a punchline. It gets hard to defend. But, I refuse to let his detractors have the last word. Especially Oasis fans.

  • @rydan2002

Agreed. I like Patton and his music but really he can be a tool.

  • @rydan2002

    Damn straight.

Nothing funny about death, especially when it is the death of someone who is talented. Methinks all the haters here feel inadequate that they haven't achieved anything compared to Michael Hutchence. Plus i'm a Patton fan but he can be a real arsehole.

  • @rydan2002 well at least he didn't mention the butt plug up his arse!

  • I love Patton! For this, too! :))

  • wot a pig big headed man u are patton

  • you're head is the same size, but this comment you made makes you think you're much bigger than patton...

    hahalol

  • What a legend

  • What a git!

  • "we better move on to a different subject"

    +

    Patton's sadistic cackle

    = ?

  • I remember and love this story!
