The book of Enoch is not "banned" it was rejected because pagan religions called the Macabees wrote many stories of their own using what had previously been written in the Old Testament. @jimahr basically the idea is that if an alien civilization is sending out a signal somewhere in the billions of ghz they'd use something that is universal, like the frequency of hydrogen times pi which is the lines in a hydrogen atom times the ratio of the circumference to diameter of a circle. ok tl;dr hydrogen times pi results in a universal quantity no matter the base (base 7, 8, math etc) you use.

A film about a really smart and courageous woman, trying to get some work done, with support from S.R. Hadden, while two wankers, David Drumlin and Palmer Joss, do their best to fuck it up for her. Tom Skerritt plays a great ruthlessly ambitious arsehole, while Matthew McConaughey plays the obligatory Christian right interest that gets shoe horned into every mainstream US movie. The book of Enoch is not "banned" it was rejected because pagan religions called the Macabees wrote many stories of their own using what had previously been written in the Old Testament. Many Jews including the Philistines saw what they had done in trying to annex their mythical stories into context with the Old Testament and rejected it, this became the Apocrypha.

The fact is we don't have evidence if this "stories" were also made up and didn't happen, it was also a long time ago, imagine ancient Egypt, when the Giza Pyramids were being built, many centuries BC, so the truth is that I can't tell you if I'm right or wrong about this, I mostly seek Bible teachings, not the historic parts of it.

Angels with psychic abilities, reading people's minds, knowing things before they happen, healing people, doing things "supernatural". Humanity has this power as well, we are after all PART of them. Christianity wants to make people feel like they are nothing but sinners and without power. This is not true. Too many questions, why remove spiritual knowledge from every group of ancient people in the world then replace it with Christianity? Why all the banned material? I'm confused. Don't instruments like optical and radio telescopes express their azimuth and elevation in degrees/minutes/seconds? Why does she say (at about 2:00) that she's realigning the array to "right ascension 18 hours", blah blah, "declination 36 degrees," blah blah, then at about 2:25, it's blah, blah,"36 hours", blah blah. Could it be that this movie is such a ridiculous flight of fantasy that they couldn't even be bothered to get this technically relevant detail correct?

After watching this movie again, I noticed that there is a heavy liberal agenda here. It paints conservatives as religious fanatics in one scene of the movie. There was an interview with Astronomer Neil DeGrasse Tyson, he stated that Republican Conservatives spend more money on the sciences (IE Space Exploration) than Liberal Democrats(After Kennedy and Johnson). He stated the reason being is the potential for income based on the research. Just an FYI.
