Ignoring bullies usually doesn't work. That's why I hated when people told me to ignore someone who was bugging me. Actually ignoring them can sometimes give them more incentive to bug you.

@PRdude I agree. I hate to say it but violence IS the answer in a case like that. That's how I got people to stop bullying me. Reporting to a teacher, ignoring them, getting somebody else to fight them for you, all of that makes everything worse.
