mine 95 has got 170k miles on it.. since new ive owned it.. this is whats went wrong.. thermastat.. easy fix.. signal switch.. easy fix.... and just recently tho water pump... not hard to fix.. i get 21 mpg.. its always used a little oil tho.. since new.. no tranny probs.. ive had the car up to 125-130 on a country road str8 stretch.
@angreco1 well its hard to say.. recently after i posted that i finally ran into a problem.. something in the tranny when wrong.. and not having time to fix it and needing a vehicle i had to sell it.. i would say you would get to 200k before stuff goes wrong.. if taken care of
these galants only have auto transmission issues.. ive had 2 of them as daily drives and have had no issues.. i never blame the car manufacturer i blame the previous of current owners at the times of the issues.. and it doesnt burn much gas as i go to tennessee and back from connecticut and only fill up twice carry a lot of weight for vacation guess you guys just got unlucky
the mechanic told me people who own galants complain about the same problem , u can add this japanese make to some american makes like chrysler , dodge , ford , etc , im glad i got rid of that car , but im sorry for that guy he was nice to me but i had to do it , g35 is infiniti/nissan , they are great cars of course u have to maintain them regularly
i just sold my galant , was one of the wost cars ever , everyday a problem , specially with the electricity ,4 cyl and it burns a lot of gas , now i have a bmw series 325i v6 and it burns less gas and of course very reliable , dont ever buy a mitsubishi.
same here i had the same color too , i had to change the belt , the distubutor , sparplugs , altenator ,wires , battery , then last month the battery started to die , many times i was on the road asking people to jump start my car , beside the knocking on the engine , the exaust stystem had a small leak etc , the car was just a piece of garbage and i felt sorry for the guy who needed 4 dr car , i gave him 300 dollars + the galant and he gave me his 2 dr 1995 bmw 325i in great condition

yeh mines blew up its on here go to 95 galant ull see a big pipe and hear wut it used to sound like but it was a problem like everyday

and remember 94-98 galants were built at the dsm plant hence the dsm sticker all over them so if you dont take care of them they will break
