I see Jerry Seinfeld as being the conductor of the show. All the other characters are lost in being themselves, while Jerry always has an invisible connection with the audience, as if he is saying "Look at this charade I have for you", inviting us to laugh at the absurdity of it all, almost as if he is breaking the third wall but not quite. Very, very subtle.

Imagine this. Back in time, one of the three actors (Jerry is not an actor) dies before or during the first season. Can you see the show ever having the success that it did? And to think that they all got ripped. Jerry was making Charlie Sheen money when Jason was making 150k an episode.
