  • The channel 7 cameras spent too much time on the number 10 car because they missed Glenn Seton's even more spectacular drive - the Nissan was catching the leaders but this went unoticed.

  • this is beautiful!

  • such a casual pitlane compared to now :)

  • Oh yeah the year ford tried to cheat to win.....

  • R.I.P Brocky. King of the mountain forever.

  • Some say that Brocky's long lost brother was Ayrton Senna.

  • Brock is God

  • the cars that was never to make 20 laps and it won the race

  • No pit lane speed limit in 1987.... just speed bumps. It was the first year of the new pit lane though.

  • Was there a pit lane speed limit?

  • I may be a girly girl. BUT!! I do heart m some V8's, RIP BROCKY!!! YOUR STILL KING OF THE MOUNTAIN!!! You always will!

  • Wake up to yourself Moarphine or are you perfect? Even the best make mistakes. How did arguably the best ever (Senna) go out?... That's right, a car accident.

  • If he's such a good driver then why did he have a car accident?

  • @Moarphine your a dick!

  • r.i.p brocky

  • great driving but what happened to his 05 car?

  • @toothlessinwapping

From memory (a long time ago), it broke down and he took over the teams second car.

  • was there a speed limit in the pits back then? lol

  • the skill of his driving is flawless

  • i met brockie in barbagallo pits with my dad when i was about 5 years old. Everybody respected you so much! You are a true champion to me. R.I.P mate. you are a true inspiration.

  • the man had balls the size of lemons. anyone who knows o'brien rd particularly the corner he was killed on knows it aint no ride in the park and he would've been givin it his all. respect to the great man

  • Absolute legend. Truly one of the best ever.

  • Givin a commodore what for, that's what strayla is all about!

  • I love that E30 behind him. GREAT, AMAZING, SUPERB drivers

  • He was great in the underpowered VL commodore

  • What track is this? It looks amazing!

  • @Davetheravepow Its called Mount Panorama. A touring race track at Mount Panorama, Bathurst NSW. It's one the biggest races on the Australian touring car calendar which is called the Bathurst 1000. It's been going for decades.

  • @Holdmypole Thanks, we don't get to much of it broadcast over in the UK. I try watch the V8's when ever i can though.

  • thedodgylodger,, who made you the expert? from the two vids i've watched they change positons several times, your just a faceless bully, with bullshit manners ,its kinda sad that your thinking of ken & barbie if your a 50 y.o

  • @thefinisher2010 I actually RACE, both cars and motorcycles, so I believe I have better credentials than you pipsqueak, and IF you watch this clip UNBIASEDLY, he has put the Slicks on way toooooo early, and is paying the price, by lapping at a slower time than if he had "Wets" on. Therefore "Peter" is FAR from "Perfect" !!!

  • @thedodgelodge I think it's a little sad that you have to resort to such base, ego driven bullshit at your age.

If fairly certain not one person here cares to hear your " expert" point of view , let alone your ( frankly hilarious) attemtps to come over as a hard man via an intrernet forum. One would think you'd know better. I guess age doesnt always mean maturity.

  • @Antifaith29 its all good hes just a fuckwit

  • @thedodgelodge You're full of it - I doubt you even drive, let alone race.

Fact of the matter is that despite the fact he threw the slicks on too early, he still lost the VK Commodore and stayed ahead of the BMW, which both were still running wets. Any car fan worth their salt knew that the VL Commodore was underpowered as hell, yet he still put on this amazing performance.

    RIP a true Australian legend.

  • @dannyg1023 HOOORAY ! Constructive criticism from someone who is at the very least, literate. My point exactly, he put the slicks on TOO EARLY ! In the context of the Race, it was the WRONG MOVE. That being said, I have actually watched Mr. Brock race the Mountain 5 times, ergo the small hump, on the entry to Skyline, is something you have to witness to believe. He would go up a gear (other Drivers going down) set the car up sideways mid-air, and land the corner 'perfectly' everytime. AWESOME

  • @thedodgelodge a lot of people here wouldnt know that the brock team cobbled that car out of parts that were mostly second hand, a lot third hand and parts that were well past their use by date in condition and competitiveness. It was only put together to meet sponsor Mobil commitments. Brocky said he didnt expect the engine to last the first session, and it was 80hp under his 05 car. Im not sure but I think the chassis may be the rebuilt crashed 86 car. Brilliant drive in an uncompetitive car

  • @thedodgelodge fuck mate your a clown fuck off

  • @HouseOfHorsePowerInc Ohhh, Boo Hooo ,,,,,,, the nasty man said something I didn't like,,,,,, So, I know ,,,,,,,, I'll say rude words to him ,,,,,,,, that'll fix him. Immature little pipsqueak, be constructive, or use some of your own advice !!! LOSER.

  • peter bloody perfect!

  • king of the hill

  • lol he went sideways pulling out. Legend. R.I.P Brocky

  • im a ford man but this run deserves respect, they should make em run slicks in the wet all the time hehe, more fun!!!

  • pure driving skill and talent. this is amazing. R.I.P Brocky.

  • 'Would he regret putting slicks on?'

'Yeah, I think he's made a slight misjudgment there...'

He went on to win. True legend, 4 years today...RIP Brocky, We all still miss you mate.

‎"Bite off more than you can chew, and then chew like hell" - Peter 'Perfect' Brock

  • @ShauningtoN - yeah, he won by bumping his teammates from their car, finishing third on the road, and only did 159 laps. The Eggenberger Sierras fully deserved to be outed, but I don't know if Brock deserved this win.

BTW - "Bite off more than you can chew, and chew like b#ggery" - Jack Davey (at least forty years before Brock).

  • RIP brocky. You drove like a demon. Who else could slide like that on slicks and stay on the road

  • @0Zolrender0 ANYONE with half an ounce of driving talent !!! Today's specialist "Drift" steerer's would make him look like a little girl at a Tea Party. Cheers, Jim.

  • I think the only wet race to beat that was 1994 with Perkins Skaife and Brock. Great driving from the King of the Mountain R.I.P PB.

  • How did he make that mistake, how, how how...?

  • Brock, Senna, Fangio, Villeneuve, Clark... they all have one thing in common. When they get into the car, they manage to display skill that is almost otherworldly, something that defies belief and leaves you speechless. RIP.

  • luv the exit out of pits , sideways , it was sooooooo much better back then

  • Long Live The King

  • Damn i could have watched that it till the end of the race..thanks for the post.. Miss you Brocky...

  • What a hero!

  • ahh i remeber being gued to the telle as a kid watchin brock driftin it miss ya thamks to the uploader for bring back the memories

  • Peter perfect, legend.

  • brock nearly lost it a couple of times

  • Why do people continue to make bloody arguments on facebook!!! Go Keyboard warrior somewhere else!!

  • @XXB4XX you really are dead set cockhead mate.

  • the falcon isnt going to fwd, dickhead.

  • your a fucking muppet mate honestly XXB4XX is right

  • Amazing what the champion could do with a bitsa car on a shoestring budget.

  • Then why click on Bathurst 1987- Brocky in the wet? What did you think hed be driving mate? A toyota hiace? A daewoo? go look for dick johnson you fucking retarded cum junky.

  • and an XD falcon handles any better. fuck off clown

  • @chancedingo the BMW was one wet weather tyres, thats why it wasnt sliding.

  • If you like M3's more than Peter Brock and V8 Holden's your a turd burglar of epic preportions who knows fuck all about cars.

  • @tyu198 dumb fuck m3 is shit

  • @nickster1318 m3 is the shit.

do your research... please dont troll.

  • @tyu198 i dont care to me there shit and others 2 i would rather one of the holdens or fords over the m3....so fuck off i was not trolling

  • everyone chek mi channel Anth231 where there are vids on the HSV clubsport R8 (new). the driver was taught by Pter Brock

  • he made no miss judgement he was a slick driver who prefered to drive on slicks, he knew what he was doing lol

  • id like to see the new class of drivers be this good...there are a couple but that was the era of true legends..

  • Yeah he was posted the result march the next year

  • was there that day. Standing in the hail in shorts and singlet. Brockies last "proper" win at the mountain. IE not the 12 hour race. Had to wait a while for the result as the Eggenberger Sierra's were DQ'd.

  • we all miss you

  • i dont..........

  • 0:29 SIDEWAYS outta the pit spot - id love to see a driver do that these days and ever be allowed to race again that day lol

and 0:42 - window down, arm resting on door, just out for a sunday drive lol

  • There is no american commentator.

  • I Love the way the american commentator has no idea about the class of the man and suggests he might be in trouble. Never an issue. thanks for the awesome memories Brockie!

  • It's British commentator Neville Hay

  • nearly 3 years since the crash.

RIP King. Thanks for being my boyhood hero.

  • Broc was aslways a Legend. By the way, that BMW was a gun vehicle for its time.

  • didnt have as much on the beemer as I would have thought down conrod ..

  • R.I.P A true legend, best ever.

  • jezzz Sideways out of the pit box

  • The days when bathurst was worth watching!

  • Sweet i sat in that car when it was at ashmore in queensland at a mobil fuel station when i was 6 ment nothing then but does now

  • You lucky bastard.

  • fantastic...

  • the fish tails at 1;38 crazy shit i wonder what speed he was going then i can watch this clip over and over again R. I. P. BROCK

  • lucky he had his energy polarizer onboard

  • see thats why hes a legend he can do well anytime u chuck him in a car wet or dry

    R.I.P Brocky

  • Brock winning that race was truly heroic - particularly as the VL he was in used old spare parts from his other vehicles...

Brocky having the flirtation with Ford after this was predictable, considering his bustup with Holden at that time (Holden serving him with legal papers not to use the Holden name for his racing) - apparently (from what I read in Wheels Magazine January 1988) certain Holden execs kept shouting at Brock "Crash you bastard"...

  • I believe Holden was jelous as Peter could build cars better than Holden ever could, Peter had IRS before Holden, Then it was later "adapted" to suit the 2 gen Commodores. Peter was taking control of Holden to an extent and GMH execs wouldn't allow it. Im not bias towards either party & im a Holden employee. Oh, and the '87 race car didn't run a polarizer.

  • I've heard rumours that Brock once developed a 4wD Commodore around this time, do you know if there is any truth to that?

  • Not to my knowledge, Not to say it didn't happen though. I know HDT played around with a Jackaroo around this time, as well as some of the VL Calais Directors had Bilstein IRS in them.

  • "What a legend" glad he won this race in the end after the Fords were disqualified.

  • i think they were actually bmw's that were disqualified...

  • na the sierras were dq for illegal fuel

  • actually, you're both right.

They found some anomalies with the fuel but couldnt prove after the race. the bodywork had been modified to handle bigger rubber but was barely noticeable. the only way to tell is with pics of each Sierra (Texaco one next to Dick Johnson's) and compare. They got done on this one.

Later, Dick showed the world how to build 'em, and within the rules too!

  • gotta love brock but all he needed was some p plates and what a ballzie legend

  • got four words too say what a awsome legaend!!

  • in the wet and with slicks on awesome!

  • R.I.P Brocky you will always be the KING OF THE MOUNTIAN

  • back in the days where there was no pit lane speed limit :) the good old days of "tyre warming"

  • R.I.P brocky! we all miss ya :legend: KING OF THE MOUNTAIN!

  • pull you're heand in mate.

  • lol. the only thing i could catch him out for is the polariser

  • Anyone who disagrees with you mate would do well to read Bill Tuckey's book "The Rise And Fall Of Peter Brock",then they might have a different view of dear old Brocky,he's no the quite the nice guy that his PR unit made him out to be.

It is also the story of his loyal team mate and business partner John Harvey, the way he treated John was a disgrace.

I agree Brock was a good driver but he was as nutty as Snickers bar.

  • pits take ages back then

  • Geez wish you could still do that up pitlane!!!

  • what a legend.. RIP BROCKY, KING OF THE MOUNTAIN

  • Spectacular but not that fast.

  • That BMW was all over him like a rash

  • Where was brock in 85... went broke, had the dumb comodore with fagot polariser. Ge he did some dumb things back then

  • 2 laps after this he was the fastest on the track and re overtook the Ford.

The Ford was a cheater anyway and got disqaulified.

  • @thedodgelodge fuck stain get some glasses he left the m3 for shit on connrod

  • @SuperTamponBandit Ohhhh,,,,,,, Now, now, Pip-Squeak ,,,,,,,,, Remember what Mommy said about using naughty words. You HAVE to be big enough to back them up !!! And I'm SORRY you little wannabe Gangster's Moll ,,,,,,,,,,,, you're not even in the same League, CupCake ,,,,,,,,,,, so you take your widdle heap of shit Toyrana, and go and play with the other loser kids in the Playground, you know, the one's all the other children laugh at !!!

  • @thedodgelodge ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah stupid cunt!

  • @SuperTamponBandit You really are a vile, uneducated, pathetic little bitch, aren't you??? Dropping the "C" word is unforgivable Sunshine, ESPECIALLY in a public forum ,,,,, ohh, but I forgot, you THINK you're tough!!! I'd lurrrv to meet you personally!!! Firstly I'd knock your head CLEAN OFF your shoulders for being such a rude widdle girl, then drop a match in your "Barbie Mobile" Toyrana, because that's the only way anyone would ever see some real smoke, coming from it's gutless 253 motor

  • @SuperTamponBandit "Brock left the M3 for sh*t on Conrod" you say??? Funny, I see that exact same Car, undertaking him on the final bend into Pit Straight!!! It is called "Wrong Tyre Choice" Bitch!!! But then again, if you knew ANYTHING about Motorsport, Performance Cars, Horsepower, and Race Craft, you would recognise this!!! Go tune "Barbie's" Van for her Ken, and leave this forum to REAL MEN, knowledgeable MEN, who KNOW what they are viewing!!!

  • @thedodgelodge take a chill pill fukwit

  • excellent car control alot of other drivers would have lost control

  • R.I.P Legend, you will be missed

  • god....what a driver.

  • On slicks and in the wet and all while eating bmws what a legend!!!! Rest in peace Brocky!!

  • WOW ! ! R.I.P Brocky lol plus i dont think there was a 40km/h speed limit in the pits at that time.

  • That was bautiful to watch. what a legend

  • Lovely sounding 304 after the split with holden ,losing allan moffat, john harvey and a lot of staff i wonder who was building theses engines ian tate or neil burns.

  • Only one man could have driven a 1300kg v8 powered VL on slicks around the toughest racing circuit in the world like that.

    Long live the king.
