  • According to ITTF rules, a return does not have to go over the net. Around the net is legal too.

2.7.1 The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it passes over or around the net assembly and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly.

    usatt.org/rules/ittf_rules.shtml

  • Pierre-Luc makes the shot, XkaboomX makes the cash. Quit exploiting people!!!!!! lol

  • 100 % it is legal.

  • Not a legal point. Of course, the serve was not legal either.

  • @randolphmarshall I don't know what you are talking about with the serve, but the shot IS 100% legal.

  • @xkaboomx You obviously don't know wat YOU are talking about because you are 100% incorrect on both counts. The ball must be returned over the net. A served ball must be released in an upward motion and must rise a minimum of 6 inches before being struck. You obviously do not believe me, so check ther rules.

  • @randolphmarshall Well, you could be right about the serve I can't really tell. But if the ball must be returned over the net, can you explain to me why this is a legal point by Mattenet (this is at the world championship, so I hope you agree with the ref's decision? /watch?v=nQlyuVcT8Lw&feature=related

  • @xkaboomx Sorry about that, I apparently am mistaken. I read the rules again and it says as long as the ball passes the net and strikes the playing SURFACE it is in play. I don't know where I got the idea it had to pass between the uprights. Perhaps i am confused in my old age and thinking of volley-ball. Again, I apologize. But the serve is marginal at best, and what I said about the service iis correct, except that the ball has to begin its downward fall before it can be legally hit.

  • @xkaboomx hahah randolph got punked =D i fully agree we cant see the serve so i have no idea, but the shot was 100% legal, and i beleive that MANY MANY MANY world class players curl it arround the net when its out wide, nobody is going to try to get it over the net

  • @randolphmarshall No, the ball doesn't have to be returned over the net. Do you really know what you're talking about? Have you read the ITTF handbook? As of 2.07.01 of the handbook, I quote, "The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it passes over or around the net assembly and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly." Honestly, if you plan on calling something illegal, get your sources right first. This return was legal.

  • @randolphmarshall your a moron, this point was legal on both counts. Sure the server was a little iffy but essentially legal.

  • @aideybabes You are the moron. Had you continued to read instead of engaging the flapper valve on your liver lips and blabbing before you knew all the facts, YOU would have realized that the issue was resolved DAYS, perhaps even WEEKS, before you decided to try to spell some idiot language that you have not yet learned! You MORON! Essentially legal? A little pregnant? Now don't force me to come over there.

  • @randolphmarshall You obviously don't know what YOU are talking about because the rules clearly state that the ball "...shall be struck so that is passes over OR AROUND the net assembly and touches the opponents court..." That shot is 100% legal. It is also impossible to tell if the serve is legal in this shot because the toss is blocked by the server's body from this angle.

  • @stonefry I see you are a moron also... read the rest of the comments i made u dumbass

  • @randolphmarshall If not reading every single comment makes me a "dumbass and a moron," then I guess you're correct. The comment that you are referring to does not show up in the same thread. Sorry I missed it, and disappointed you in the process.

  • @stonefry of couse i am correct. what makes you a dumbass moron is to call someone a moron before reading all the related facts. apology accepted.

  • @randolphmarshall Wow. I watched some of your videos. You seem like a decent man. I'm not really sure why you need to go around calling people nasty things on the internet. I just read an incorrect comment and corrected it. No name calling that you are accusing me of.

  • @stonefry By golly, you are correct: YOU DID NOT CALL ME A NAME, and for saying that you did I apologize. My original comment was neither confrontational or combative, yet almost all replies were, including yours. When a comment directed to me conveys a confrontational or combative attitude (such as saying "You obviously don't know what YOU are talking about..." I will attempt to respond in kind. Those comments I have made where I have been incorrect and unjustly testy have received my apology.

  • @randolphmarshall The shot is perfectly legal. The ball does NOT have to travel over the net. It just has to hit the other side (it cannot hit the side of the table, however). The serve was also fine. He threw the ball up before striking it. Your rude tone and poor command spelling smells of TROLL.

  • @rctruck1 ha ha I also didn't read all of the comments first. Flame on!

  • @rctruck1 Don't make me come over there to give you a lesson in spelling.

  • @rctruck1 Hey, you want to bitch at me first read all my comments. when you get to the second one you will see that you are barking up a tree. Untill then you would be better to quit flapping your liver lips about other people's intelligence, since it appears you have very little. And as for smell, I expect your breath smells of PUNK. You are a waste of perfectly good space and air. Eat dog excrement and expire.

  • @randolphmarshall point is legal.

The serve I do agree upon though

  • @capflodberg well, if the service was bad then the point was scored before any attempt to return so of course he got the point.

  • Not a legal point.

  • If you return the ball UNDER the NET is it legal? Just asking im just a newbie

  • @lhudwig13 Yes this shot was completely legal. As long as you get the ball on your opponent's side, it could be around the net.

  • @xkaboomx ahhh Thank you so much!

  • @lhudwig13 No if the ball goes under the net and hit your opponent it is their point not yours it has to go over the net and hit your opponent's side

  • that table tennis ball probably broke when he smashed it

  • rolling = hitting the table one time! so waiting until the ball jump down form the table on the other side and continue playing!? xD

  • nice good

  • PING PONG TALKIN BLUES 2 IS NOW UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE....THANKS....DAN

  • la cagoooo :O

  • Doesn't the ball have to clear the height of the net even when it's off to the sides?

  • @yuluns

    No

  • Honestly, that happened to me once haha The person i was playing was trying to say that it never bounced so it was HIS point haha

  • epic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude that count as a let but if he plays it then its too late

  • @pwnage696969 A let is on a serve

  • @xJFxElement i know but according to the rules it counts as a let

  • @pwnage696969

lol, what the fuck are you talking about??? that is not a let. after a good serve, a ball that bounces once on your side and then hits the net is perfectly fine if it bounces on the opponent's side of the table. the guy either had to play the ball, or lose the point.

do you even know how to play table tennis? you certainly don't know the rules...

  • @dfunkt yes i know how to play table tennis i play state in australia and my coach coaches the australian olympic team.

  • @pwnage696969 yeah right

  • @pwnage696969

dude, i hope your coach is not alois rosario! nah, couldn't be, alois knows what's up ruleswise: watch?v=jjbFbNiG_iY

i find it utterly amazing that you play table tennis at such a high level, and yet you don't understand what a let is. wtf

  • @dfunkt hey u know alois too?

  • @pwnage696969

i only know alois virtually, having had a couple short comment "conversations" here on youtube, and also on pingskills website. i think he is most excellent.

  • @dfunkt its not a let BUT it counts like a replay...

  • @pwnage696969

no, it doesn't, it is a live ball if it hits the net during the run of play. as long as the ball lands on your side of the table off a legal shot by your opponent, you must play the ball. check the rules.

  • @dfunkt sorry im wrong your right :) just asked him my coach recently

  • great

  • I cannot find words to describe this

  • Xavier disliked the video...

  • @kenkyuen haha good one Kenny

  • good luck d1 xDD

  • I did this once (not trying to brag!) when playing against a douchebag - such a great feeling!

  • At that moment

The boll hits the table at least one hundred times

So you have no chance to hit the boll

  • @lee79717 timo boll? o.o

  • @Chinesekage Sorry!! It's "ball" ha ha ha my false= =

  • i think that this is fake ...... lmao no jking you know how i know this is real? jessus told me in a dream, he said that the next impossible thing i see must be real cuz he is jessus and he says so, oh and in other news you aint got no pancake mix.

    that is all

  • Thats what u get for hitting the net LOL

  • That's as close to a roll that you're going to get! This is one in a million!

  • CTM la wea seca xDDDDD

  • @GStabletennis maybe but i dont think so maybe he just let the point**

  • @GStabletennis maybe but i dont think so maybe he just let the

  • haha. my friends done that shot to me before, but not as good as this one. nice.

  • fucking epic

  • jaja no tiene votos negativos el video, es perfecto

  • In fact, a perfect "rolling ball" does NOT exist, because where there is ALWAYS a number of micro-leaps upon the ball-to-table contact. Thereof, the receiver has to be swift enough to hit the supposingly rolling ball as early as possible, or else the umpire may rule his return as a fault. Do refer to the ITTF Laws of Table Tennis §2.10.1.3 Igor

    national umpire

    Russia

  • That is some crazy luck.

  • it looked llike it hit net the net post frame which caused it to not bounce.

  • @pbsmick No it actually hit the edge of the table before settling on the table.

  • @LookB3hindU Thats insane lol

  • If the ball did not bounce at all, could Xavier have let the ball continue rolling and when it dropped off the side of the table hit it back???? lol

  • @GStabletennis Unfortunately no. A roll is considered an approaching infinite number of bounces. And even if a roll wasn't defined that way the ball technically bounced by hitting the edge and then settling on the table.

  • only luck <3

  • Amazing... the return shot had no bounce at all.. haa.. no way anyone can return this.. :D

  • fucking awesome!

  • und der typ hat das garnicht mitgekriegt der lag unterm tisch und konnte es garnicht sehen :D

  • Simply amazing!!!

This particular case is just so difficult to happen...
