Yes it was longer than it should have been. When you remember the days when the DC5 were equal to the Beatles, before any mention or music of the Rolling Stones was even noticed.
also saw the DC5 in '65 or '66. I loved the fact they were the band that knocked the Beatles off the #1 spot with "Glad All Over". too bad the hall of fame dragged their heels in inducting them. had they done it earlier we would have seen the DC5 instead of the DC3
Great version of this oldie, and quite unique as well!
Too bad the album was a bummer though!
It was one of the most highly anticipated debut albums in early 1964, and was a major disappointment!
50% of the album should have been rejected!
The Throw away tracks were, I Need You I Love You, Can I Trust You, Can't you See that Shes Mine,(The single version is heaps better!), Rumble and Funny.
The DC5 remained a great singles band, but their albums were never that great!
Is this an statement of fact or just your opinion. Please let us know of the albums that you recorded during that period, so we can compare and critique against the DC5 albums.
I own the album, so I gave it a listen after your comments and you may be right regarding the single versions being better. However you can keep the necklace.
I also saw them live back in 1965 or 1966 It was across from Disneyland the name of the place I think was Melodyland. It isn't there anymore. I am glad we have something in common. Thake it easy.

Music critics of the time dumped on this album big time, and rightly so!
It was weak compared to what they were putting out as singles.
So it was not just my opinion, as you put it.
The DC5's albums were nowhere near as solid and inventive as the Beatles.
Obviously you are one of these people that accept any quality of music that is dished out, just because you are a "FAN" of the band.
If someone goldplated dogshit, you would no doubt where it as a necklace?

I was not trying to be negative about the DC5.
I have always been a big fan of their music, and saw them live in 1965.
Their albums to be sure had real gems, but as a whole were not consistent.
However, the soundtrack album to their movie Catch us if you can, is the exception.
A great album, show casing their talents.
I received a 3 CD set from Russia last year, that has 100 tracks in total.
I love every track, and an amazing selection of songs from albums, singles and E.P's!
