  • I love country livin.. great song

  • Travis is the Best

  • Great song. So true. There is nothing like the small town/country life.

  • I'd love for Travis to release a new album. Country music isn't the same without him around.

  • Like if you came from a farm

  • 6 people don't like corn

  • yea sure right theres alot they don,t know LOL i don,t know about right in this world but what about honest and fair

  • when he first came on the seen i was blown away how real country he sounded and i think he never got the honor he rightly deserves

  • @TheGto389 so true....he is probably one of the most underated guitar players and country artists ever.

  • @Maxwell800 Why you guys always talkin about under-rated? Travis has never been under-rated, and never will be! He is a born winner and has proved it all of his life!

  • gotta live it to know, sing it travis this songs sure true

  • Thats real country farmin style old feel good music, God bless you Travis

  • I grew up on a farm in Ohio..some 40 years ago. Farmers were the people I respected most...worked on it too..why not. They feed the whole world.Don't ever forget that!!!

  • One of my favorites of Travis's songs

  • 6 people live where corn don't grow.

  • I love this song .it is so true for me.I always think Of my DAD, and my myself as a stupid young person.

  • i dont understand why he is not one of the most favorite and most popular artist of today this one of the songs that hit home with all people if one listen to the lyrics it is real

  • @rodoemichel Travis survived a 'media feud' with Billy Ray Cyrus by remaining true to his 'country' roots and producing good music. Unfortunately, Billy Ray let his emotions rule and it cost him musically. we have to come to grips with the fact that , THINGS CHANGE. A lot of what is now considered real genuine country, was once called 'Rock and Roll', and not accepted by those who fancied themselves as original 'country & western' music fans.

  • @latokatn506 Travis was always Southern Rock/Country and he never went pop, ever. He did one Blues album with a little traditional country mixed in.

  • @latokatn506 sometimes the Greats reach out to some new listeners, and sometimes we dont always like this(Alan Jackson, Vince Gil). Ill tell you they only do it temporarily. But lets not forget the magic and emotions their songs bring us everyday because you never know their next new material might be the best you have ever heard

  • @latokatn506 dude you have no clue travis is the shit

  • as much as i like this version, waylon does it for me every time.

  • The CMT Video of Tritt and this song in 1997 gave me more than goosebumps. Just something about a father teaching a son about a valuable lesson in life helped me with my son.

  • my family farms!

  • My Favorite Tritt Song! Played it tonight at The Emerald Queen Casino here in Washington! Tritt forever!!!!!!

  • why dont we hear any of this stuff on country FM radio ? All we get ( for the most part ) is so much UN country crap.

  • Travis could put his boots under my bed anytime.

  • I love this song - and I'm from New York City. The first time I heard it was at twilight in the Utah canyon lands, just as the day's light was fading and a phenomenon know as the "smiling moon" was beginning to show through the night's dark sky. The air was cold and crisp at about 10,000 ft elevation... it was a magical moment that transcended all the petty problems of the world.

  • Goosebumps...that is all

  • gives me the chills because i was born and raised in an old grey house....

  • I cant thank about living in a place were corn dont grow...

  • I cant thank about living in a place were corn dont grow...

  • sugars is what helps muscles to develop like with any thing used corectly nothing is bad for you just like salt... :)

  • 702..

  • But what about High Fructose Corn Syrup?!?!?!?!?

    It is making everyone obese!

  • @wackyruss Gluttony is what makes one obese. Sugar is sugar is sugar. Greed is rife in this country.

  • @wackyruss It's taking in too many calories that makes a person obese. I eat sugar all day long yet have six-pack abs. How is that possible? I practice portion control and exercise regularly.

  • @wackyruss dont blame the high fructose corn syrup for making people fat blame the people that over eat and are not willing to get up and do some thing about it

  • This song really makes me long to see my father again great song. Most things our fathers tell us never resonate until we see it for ourselves as we get older. Love u Dad!

  • This is a super great song and singer!!!

  • keep it country

  • great tune for all cats out there . yee haa go get em maggie

  • Travis is awesome and I love this song!!!

  • There is a lot that a young man doesn't know about where corn don't grow. Ironically; we wind up trying to find out how to attempt to get back. Where corn don't grow.

  • This is the best song ol Travis has ever done! I love this song !

  • I heard this in the HEB in Port Isabel. I like the juxtaposition that hearing it there provided.

  • Travis was born to sing this song.

  • @kevmc771 Amen Kevmc!!!! He was born to sign this song!

  • This song reminds me so much of my grandmother, who raised me. I wanted off that farm so bad. I got away and went to the city. As I got older I returned to the things of my youth. In time I knew why she lived the simple life.

  • I'm sure Mr. Tritt is paying respects to the other artists when he covers their songs. I seriously doubt he's trying to one-up them or surpass them, whether he does it or not in sales. He's just sharing the music that he loves from people that he looks up to with the listeners. Please quit comparing artists who aren't looking for any comparisons; it ruins the songs.

  • I miss this song when I was in the military back in the late 90s. =(

  • awesome concert! WISH YOU WOULD HAVE PLAYED THIS ONE PLUS BEST OF INTENTIONS THOUGH :(

YOU'RE JUST AS GOOD LIVE OR NOT BETTER LIVE THAN ON CD

  • waylon said this guy is the real deal, thats good enough for me

  • probably one of the best song's known to man!

just kinda goes down deep and touchs your country soul!

  • play this song in C and a little faster with some newfie screech and now you got a party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this a good song

  • dont we all

  • reminds me of hunting with my dad. we live in the suburbs and every hunting season we drive down to pike county Illinois to stay for the weekend. so every time i hear this song at my house in the suburbs, i think of all the trees, farms, and the fresh air that you actually get down there rather than anywhere near chicago. feels good to think about it

  • Awesome song & entertainer!!! The Moore Brothers, Jacob & Isaac

  • Travis Tritt ist durch seine einzigartigkeit und durch das gefühlo das er in seinen liedern rüberbringt einer der besten Sänger überhaupt

  • He is so under rated!

  • reminds me of my gradpa in union city tennessee

  • nice comment it does bring back memories.

  • Reminds me of my childhood living on my grandma's farm. I thought life was better in the city till I went there. I figured out what she was trying to till me. Still remember the look on her face. What a wonderful woman to have taken me in.

  • Wow, I have a similar tale to tell too. Strange huh?

  • I think this is his best performance with this song, he really has found his voice with this one!

  • I always had the hots for Travis

  • I really like this song. There's a lot of truth in it.

  • Never cuss a farmer with your mouth full.

  • @swordofdixie This has got to be one of the best comments I have ever read on here.

  • @jeepnutt78

Thanks. Back in the early 80's some friends of the family were farmers and I spent some time there in their fields picking produce. They had a hand carved sign with that quote on it in their car port where I did a lot of cleaning and sorting of produce. It was wisdom that stuck with me to this day.

  • @swordofdixie THATS DAMNED RIGHT!!!!!!!

  • @swordofdixie Thats great advice.

  • @swordofdixie TY on tHAT OR A TRUCK DRIVER BECUASE IT HAS TO GET FROM FARM TO STORE SOME HOW

  • man this song makes me miss my corn field...chicago

  • God bless the hard working American farmer.

  • @nickmaurus

    Thank you!

  • @nickmaurus The farmer, coal miner, and iron worker are what made this country, tell me where it would be without them. (I know there other hard workers, there are just whats in my blood)

  • Awesome song.....small town life has made me think of alot and appreciate what i have and that is family... thanks for sharing this video... it means alot to us all.

  • i never had a father so a song like this means alot because I want to instill these values in my children

  • reminds me of talking with my Dad

  • What a story to tell by a song!

It don't get any better then this.

  • From an Iowa cornfield amd proud !!!

  • i know what its like to grow up where the corn grows and i loved it and wish i never had to move

  • wow, i grew up in a miltary life, also moving and hearing about how great growing up in a small town was and wondering why i had to make it in one big city after another and why when i tried to fit in they never trusted my friends--man did i wish i grew up where corn grew

  • I think this song has international truth, where I grew up the song might say where rice or kasava root don't grow.

  • me were corn or wheat dont grow

  • We all must live and learn whether it is about life, loves, or just being ourselves. Sometimes I wished that I did live where the corn grows. But it took age for me to understand that.

  • Thanks For Posting! Great Song With A Very, Very True Message.Hard Times Are Real/Theres Dusty Fields No Matter Where You Go.I Heard Waylons Version & Tritts Both Are Good. This Song Taught Me A Lot In The Real World Because, I Never Wanted To Listen To Anyone .This Song Reminds Me Of The Fights I've Faced Over Music ,What I Was Gonna Do With My Life Etc. With My Parents. I Was Always Bull Headed But, Just Like Tritt Said The Weeds Are High Where Corn Don't Grow!!! Listen & Learn Itll Pay Off

  • This song sorta reminds me of my upbringing. I recored a version and posted it here as a reply. Please check it out. Sherrill

  • Waylon Jennings did this song first but Travis is the man this song was made about. Travis and Waylon were good frends. we all miss Waylon verry much!

    brilliant, plain and simple.

  • Great song by a true talent. Travis is one of my all time favorites singers.

  • This song reminds of what being an american is all about, I love the heartland.....that is the soul of america.

Real people who know right from wrong....God bless

  • Amen.

  • Great song and great singing. Travis has done Waylon's song justice. I wish Travis would do more of Waylon's music because Travis has a real heart and talent for it.

  • yes i guest it gets in our blood that,s exactly the way it is there,s just something that draws u back

  • i know thers jus sumthin bout it.cant live any place but the farm

  • WEEDS are hi where corn don't grow.

  • Waylon is looking down with big smile on his face.

    Bravo Travis!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the true country music entertainer of the year: Travis Tritt

  • I've seen Travis twice at the Hot Springs motorcycle rally......what a talent!! The very best of country,,,,,love you Travis.

  • great song my dad was to a hard worker i lost him in 1999 but i know he with the LOrd now

  • he inspired me to sing.check out gypwin

  • i grew up on a tobacco farm in Kentucky really poor didn't have anything didn't even have indoor plumbing i left the farm a long time ago i have i guess made it i make a lot of money and have a nice home this song makes me homesick it causes me remember that a lot of thing are more important that material things if i could go back to that time and place i would the weed ARE high where corn dont grow or in this case tobacco

  • This song reminds me so much of my Dad. It was one of his favorite songs. It also reminds me of our relationship. I was such a rebellious teenager. He passed away when I was 17 and every time I hear this song I cry. I miss him so much. I wish I knew then what I know now.

  • i can relate to that........sigh.

  • Thats what teenagers do my friend, don't be too hard on yourself.

  • I love this song!! But it's not just sempathy. Just because i'm his cousin, I love his music.

  • Well, you tell cousin Travis I love him too. I had quit listening to country untill he hit the scene.Something about his music can tear my heart out and then make me swoon as he hands it back.

  • it is so sad this song didn't do as well for waylon jennings , who actually wrote it and recorded it in '69

  • Yep I was in the audience for that one (05 Hot Springs, AR HOG Rally) and Waylon would be proud!!! woop woop...

  • I just saw Travis in concert in Florida..He is still as great as he was back in the day...it continually amazes me how he engages the audience of old, young, and everything else...truly an awesome night I won't forget for a long time...

  • He's the greatest!

  • Travis is truly a long haired country boy! Not to many country boys can sing like that.

  • Just a great singer

  • and Guitarist. He owns!

  • if i'm honest i love Waylon's origional but i think Travis' is better....

  • this song makes me feel like a kid again. such a great piece.

  • a song is not about who sings it better or who sings it worse...both travis and waylon put there heart and soul into there music and thats what really matters.

  • ahhhhhh you get it my friend

  • I love Travis!!!! what a guy! he's a believer too!

  • i just love it, yeah

  • Are you kidding me? Travis' version is awesome in comparison to Waylon Jennings. Travis totally owns this song as it fits his voice and his style of music. Heck, even the Billboard charts prove this song was a bigger hit under Travis than it ever was with the Great Waylon Jennings. If you wanna fuss about shitty versions of this song, go watch people like the Grascals sing it. Otherwise, quit watching my Travis Tritt videos if you don't like Travis Tritt.

  • Dude, really, grow up. If it wasn't for Travis Triit a whole generation would've never heard this song.

  • omg iabsotively posotively luv this song! i ((( swear )) to gosh ))) i luv this ssong its official i luv it!! best song ever

  • this was by far one of Travis Tritt's BEST!!!!!!!! He has sure come a long way on his own, and will go farther still. Leave Waylon alone folks, he was a one-of-a-kind in his own right. There will never be another one like Waylon, orTravis.

  • Thats the MAN!! rite there!

  • Travis' version is OK...but Waylon was the first to record this song and nobody did it as good as ole Waylon...

  • Well, I have to respectfully disagree :). Travis made this song a hit song at #6, Waylon's original version didn't even break the top 65, no offense to the great Waylon Jennings. I'm a staunch believer that most people can never sound better than the original version, but one this one, Travis was the better of the two on this particular song.

  • agreed .. it fits tritts roughneck nature, and his voice and band.. travis was the exception to the rule on this one

  • True that Mr. Big

  • Don't forget!....Our man Travis :) Played with OLE WAYLON on Waylon's last Tour....However, he does do a beautiful job!

  • you got that right!

  • @bigdmck01 Just have to say AMEN! I love Waylon but Travis did it justice!

  • Einfach GENIAL!!!

  • Fantabulous

  • This is by far one of his best songs.

  • Without a doubt, my favorite Travis Tritt song. It takes me back to being a teenager in farmcountry, Illinois, chomping at the bit to get out into the world and make it on my own. I remember my dad and I having a similar conversation and this song always takes me back. Thanks for posting this.

  • thanks for putting it out there. This is my favourite Travis Tritt song. Canadian fan

  • great song, where is the video?
