  • If Nixon was anything like the Nixon in the movie "Frost/Nixon" he did have the balls to at least, after some pushing, acknowledge his wrong doings.

  • I and many actually like Nixon.

  • CBS posted a Nixon tape where he's asked about ABORTION.

He says that ''IT'S NOT BLACK AND WHITE as with rape. ''

That was a common expression in his day.

CBS manipulates and garbles his words and ''RE-WRITES'' over his face that he said abortion is fine ''as with black and white or rape''....painting him as racist.

    I posted a correction.

Then CBS re-posts the video and won't permit comments.

    Still lying about Nixon

    How pathetic

  • @cbasallie How does that make racist what he said makes sense it not as simple as rape.

  • @homiezrgr8 That's the point. Nixon's comment was NOT racist. CBS ''re-wrote'' and changed his words. CBS' 're-written'' statement made the President sound like a racist. It was a deliberate attempt at slander.

  • @cbasallie

    I see.

  • Just watch the movie dead on just like the tapes

  • i just watched the movie and i have to take a look at these interviews, the moie is really awsome

  • Watergate was just a cover up of something else going on, the CIA just wanted to deviate people's attention from what was really happening; they got it. Nixon was just a scapegoat and he had to keep it to himself or else he would be silenced just like they did with Kennedy. Yes ladies and gentlemen our government, the senate and the pentagon are run by "OTHERS"

  • Yes I just watched the movie. Absolutely amazing. Sheen was great but Frank Lagella stole the show. How on earth did he not win the oscar? Superb viewing!

  • movie was great

  • When did Nixon die?

  • @JoDaddyy 1994 I think

  • @ktwarner87 Lol, the year I was born.

  • @JoDaddyy lmgtfy.com/?q=richard+nixon

  • 5 People did not watch the movie before watching this! LOL! I am amazed the actor even tingled his eyes the same way Nixon did :O

  • I don't want to bring up the same story again. Yet Nixon was not a bad president. He was a bad politician in the sense that he couldn't properly hush up the shit stink.

  • So typical for guilty people to always proclaim they are a victims.

  • i did... two days ago i saw the old movie from 1977 i think wit robert redford and dustin hofman... i got kind of interessted of the watergate happening

  • i can't believe all the americans on here defending nixon. the guy was a crook and he knew how to play people. he knew what to say and when to say it. and it seems all these years later, people are still falling for it!

  • @cleverbunny101....well, you have to look at it in the context of the times..look at the kennedy's, they wire tapped people, including Martin Luther King,--JFK ordered the murder of Castro-ordered bombings of factories, power plants and crop burnings in Cuba..used the IRS to go after his political enemies, authorized a coup that resulted in the murder of a US ally..Kennedy and Nixon were probably much more alike in terms of their personalities than most people realized. They were both ruthless.

  • @1koonman Koonman? wut?

  • he wasnt the worst president :/

  • Danr rotton NIXON.... he actually managed to get 630,000 thousand people from Viet Namn, some how we did see world wide Ploferation off deadly weapons/ Sneaky Guy even drove in an open car nexy to Sadat, HMM You think that will happen again soon? We know of Forgien Policy achivements! The sneak even ... BALANCED THE BUDGET!! As i hear of TRILLION Dollar defficates, for as far as the eye can see!.... ROTTEN TRICK!

  • @quiettman11 yeah causing genocide and killing hundreds of thousands of civilians negates all of that. nice try though

  • Nixon is fucking crazy

  • Good man

  • NIXON IS AN SON-OF-A-BITCH

  • @Skybolter

Maybe learn correct grammar before you insult.

  • Nixon was Republican through and though. Saw the Presidency as his own personal plaything to distribute goodies and favors. The only concessions he made to liberals were out of fear they would get power and do something 'worse'. But did he see the Presidency as a vehicle to serve the country? The whole country? Ha! Not on your life. I agree that G.W.Bush was 10x worse than Nixon though. The President is the founders idea of a King, well Bush was the flip side of that a Despot.

  • @Silvertrine

Is this the only clip of his that you watched. He is a well-spoken man who wanted what he thought was best for the country. Sure, he was wrong in doing what he did, but he restored relations between the US and "Red China". His contributions are overshadowed by this one major mistake. You should give him his due. Listen to his resignation speech. That'll give you a different side of the story to ponder on. And all this coming from a Democrat. Hell yeah, man.

  • You cant call a willful act a mistake. It was a crime. The biggest mistake this country ever made was pardoning Richard M. Nixon. If Nixon had a trial and was found guilty then the cowards like Cheney and G. W. Bush never would have dared to do what they did. They hid behind the Nixon pardon and the resulting massive increase in executive power like it was their momma's skirt.

  • @Silvertrine

True statement. However, he wasn't all bad, as I had said earlier. He just decided to do a VERY stupid act that landed him in bad light. And that IS his fault, no question. But I don't believe he was an evil man, just like I don't believe that Bush was evil. Bush made stupid decisions, and Nixon did, too. But they weren't evil.

  • @GenVK I think another big mistake possibly a major one was when he took us off the gold standard

  • @Silvertrine Being Americans, neither you nor I would know anything about despots. Do you even realize how hyperbolic you sound?

  • Hyperbolic? Were you asleep during the Bush administration? He had the power to tap everyones phone, to try them in closed kangaroo courts, fly them off to torture camps around the world, make up phony intelligence to start wars. All with the approval of a rubber stamp court and neo-con Congress. The hell we dont know anything about despots.

  • @Silvertrine well said

  • Jarring to see such honesty... especially from one of the most infamous figures in American history

  • we would have had a much better country long ago had the republicans not have ordered the murders of MLK,JFK,RFK, and even John Lennon.Peace is never on the republican agenda!

  • WOW ! ! ! what an imbecillic idiot you are ! I would label you, lizsdad, as ignorant but then your argument would have to contain content of some merit, and then you would simply "ignore" the truth. You have no substance. Either you are just 'fishing' for a response because your life has no course or bearing, or you are truly a socially numb neanderthal with a criminally biased agenda. Go soak your head in a rich potion of common sense and soak it good ! ! !

  • Peace is on no one's agenda. Guess the republicans started Vietnam too. We would be better when the two party system ends.

  • @lizsdad your a fucking idiot

  • he was by far the best President in modern US history in terms of foreign policy, barring Vietnam, which he should have ended sooner.

The world may have been a different place today, had watergate not happened and Nixon remained President, followed by Ford instead of Carter.

  • What Nixon did was wrong and unconstitutional, but compared to everything Bush did, what Nixon did was nothing. Bush WAS the worst president of the last 50 years and was probably the worst since James Buchanon.

  • all politics are the same, nixon at least, at the end had the guts (or maibe obligate) to admit it.

  • Richard Nixon is Right, he Gave his Political Enemy's a Gun & they Blew him Away with it Sorta like Bill Clinton with the Lewinski Scandal.

  • How do you determine which words should have capital letters?

  • Is that all you have?

  • @FrsBigeasy No. Your grammar is piss-poor too.

  • Thanks Professor English

  • @FrsBigeasy 'Thanks, Professor English.'

  • @gogglepops 'Thanks, Professor English'.

  • hypocracy, how some demonize nixon for technically covering up, yet praise the likes of mao, che, castro, pol pot and stalin, who did far worst violations than that and genocide as a tool to maintain power. i guess if you hate america, its enemies can do no wrong

  • @mfe111 i don't know what world you grew up in, but i don't know anyone who ever praised mao, pol pot or stalin

  • I just watched the movie "Frost/Nixon", and Michael Sheen did a SUPERB job as David Frost!!! :o

  • @G4ME5PY yeah, i was impressed by that movie.

  • @G4ME5PY true, he looks just like him and sounds just like him.

  • Nixon didin't give a shit. He did whatever the fuck he thought was the right thing to do. Kudos.

  • @lastardriver his problem though was he was too paranoid to be president

  • That may be true but that doesn't make him a bad person. He did get us the fuck out of Vietmam which by the way was not "his" war. peace.

  • @lastardriver your right.

  • in the movie he looks sad but here he's smiling.

    he a G.

  • bigbromiki1 = stupid fucking retard

  • Nixions acting was great in The watchmen

  • LOL yeah... They should have made his nose look less like a penis though.

  • They say microwave frequency cuts right through the brain like butter; is that why so many people are having melt downs?

  • Coop, Conspiracy same thing that brought down Kennedy, Nixon had knowledge that he shouldn't have either had or should at least have left it alone. His comments about the "whole bay of pigs thing" gave big clues as to what knowledge he was still seeking years after the fact. That was the real question with Nixon, not the Watergate breakin that was staged.

  • Nixon = douchebag

  • @oddballbama

dude....wow....just....just wow....what did Kenndy do wrong? huh? i want an answer?

  • Nixon was one of the greatrest American Presidents ever

  • Nixon is a president of shakespearian complexity imo. He was a very capable forward looking president, but his constant suspicion and inability to really trust those around them led to his downfall. His legacy will always have that criminal stain, but his accomplishments will live on.

  • What accomplishments? Conspiring with Kissinger to prolong the Vietnam War just long enough for Nixon to be able to take the credit for stopping it?

Or maybe his "whole Bay Of Pigs thing", (a reference to the Kennedy Assassination). Nixon was a dirty lying criminal, guilty, like the vast majority of American Presidents,(including Obama!!) of mass murder and genocide. When will people realise the Democrat-Republican paradigm is a faux divide, we are in a One Party System in all but name.

  • The lying Crook....The Vietnam War could have been resolved by the Johnson Administratioon-But Tricky Dicky, sabatoged the peace agreement by informing Thieu -That Nixon would continue the war!!!

  • me..

  • I'm

  • who else watched this clip after watching the frost/nixon movie?

  • @Cross3dPoisons Damn that was a good movie!

  • @Cross3dPoisons haha I watched it last night!! great movie

  • @Cross3dPoisons haah i did, just now

  • @Cross3dPoisons ako!

  • @Cross3dPoisons hahahaha I just watched the movie straight before coming on here.

  • @Cross3dPoisons lol I definitely did. Now I'm going to watch "All The President's Men" so I can get a glimpse of what it was like from a journalist point of view.

  • @Cross3dPoisons lol hi

  • @Cross3dPoisons Just finished the movie - great. I was very young during all this, 3 kids, a 10-room house, etc. so I just wished they would shut up about Watergate and put the cartoons back on. Now, I'm fascinated, especially after the movie. Now, David Frost, go after Clinton and MonicaGate. All of them are guilty of abuse of power.

  • I wonder if we will ever see the like again of this type of interview ,im British but something makes me feel sorry for tricky dicky.Nowadays it would not even bother half the world, example just now in the u.k at this moment there is an inquiry into the Iraq war nobody is giving a rats ass about it and that my friends is a sign of the times....

  • Nobody is giving a rats ass because we know it's going to be just another British whitewash covering up another chapter in our Governments genocidal campaign. They did it with Dr Kelly, Diana, Bloody Sunday, Gibralter, the list is endless, and that's only over the last decade or so!!! We are soon to be in a Global One Party System. Things like Watergate, JFK, RFK, MLK, 9/11, Waco, Ruby Ridge, Bill Cooper should all be investigated and should be investigated. It's a sytematic takeover of power.

  • Do you rember the old days when politicians used to resign if they got it wrong, or behaved illegally. Even Anthony Eden resigned after screwing up Suez.

  • The old days for me were the 80's and 90's, but even then they mostly seemed to resign when they were caught being up to no good, nowadays they seem to be given Lordships and promotions, or million pound bonuses if they are in the private sector.

There was an episode of Yes Minister where the main character, a politician, was "punished" by being moved from being an MP to an MEP as he was a "failure". As an MEP he had a chauffeur, First Class Travel and more money and expenses than an MP...

  • ....at the end of the episode, he remarked to his wife that he wouldn't mind a little more failure in the future, as they both raised their flute of champagne they toasted their failure.

  • yes i remember. Margaret Thatcher always said Yes Minister was accurate. The problem is you can't just sack a politician, because they will probably have the goods on you so you have to 'kick them upstairs'. Or in During the troubles in Northern Ireland send them there as secratery of state and hope they are blown up.

  • @BR1DOI888 And the moon landings,1st gulf war, foot and mouth, christ sake mate, you sound like dave icke. What i meant to say was the way two men sat down and verbally boxed with each other ,the quality interviewing ,not what happened in area 51 , the illumanati, or all other supposed theories involving n.w.o.Iam not going around with blinkers on ,there is shit going on thats dodgy but thats always been going on since time started .Sad but true.

  • lol

Do I really sound like Ike? That's mean.

The thing with this though, is that people like Frost are intelligent, they know how the media works and they know how politicians and the system works, but they still work within the realm of the mainstream, like, there is a little "truth" allowed to be filtered out, but the reality of it will never be permitted. Like admitting to a misdemeanor to get away with a felony so to speak.

  • We can see great performances in Parliament, but that doesn't mean the politicians involved went after each other full throttle, although to us it would appear that way, or like WWE, it might look great and they seem to go after each other, but at the end of the day, we know it's more Hollywood than anything else, window dressing.

  • the guy who played him in the movie kinda over-acted it.

  • you guys are rotten...not smart...sad...half happy, but everyone is eh?

  • FAMOUS Presidential lies: JFK and the "Missile gap", when he said it he knew it wasnt true, got elected anyway

Tonkin Resolution; known to be false when used to push Vietnam response of increasing US role...

all pale next to man made global warming, these guys wont quit till your utility bill is $1,500/month

  • i know nothing of politics but got very interested in frost nixon when watching the movie im just retarded or something but wheat the hell!!! i dont get it!! please some one tell me in exact defintion please!!!

  • @vanderdot93

A very natural reaction. It's a lot like sex on TV. There was a time when you couldn't say the word "pregnant" on television. To rise to the level of a scandal now, takes something 100 times worse than before. Take Climategate now -- we now know it's all based on lies and it's going to cost trillions and kill prosperity, and it still hasn't risen to the level of a scandal. I'd rather Obama just spied on the GOP campaign headquarters, and forgot about Copenhagen.

  • By "relish" do you think he meant the condiment?

  • the only difference between nixon and any other politician is he got caught ! i wouldnt be suprised if the zionists were behind his being "caught " he didnt like them and knew they had to much power in the US GOVT he resented that fact and they knew it

  • you have a good point, specific accusations aside, it is EXTREMETLY unlikely that Nixon was the only president that partook in illegal actions. Actually, it is definitely not true to begin with.

  • Check out JFK II on video google if you haven't seen it already.

  • YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH.

  • OOOPS! You forgot to write down your name in the "very very stupid" section of your list. :)

  • can you please elaborate on why you think glenn beck is great?

  • "The last thing anyone thought Nixon would do was visit China, and it was the last thing he ever did" --Mort Sahl

  • i just wonder if our two sides will ever stop fighting. its horrible. it makes us weak. both sides can truly believe what they think/do/say is right, and argue it to death. both "sides" are essentially equally disfunctional and retarded, they just have different opinions on things. both sides are brainwashed by their own families, and the media the chose to follow. we're drifting further and further apart from eachother. i just wonder if ill ever live to see us get it together.....

  • its a shame america has become divided. whether your a hardcore right wing conservative that is comepletely pro-war, anti-abortion-, pro globalization/capitalism, military-industrial complexed person, or a faggoty self righteous left wing environmentalist, insincere white guilt piece of shit.

im still young, and dont know at what point in our country's history this happened. coming from being a young, unified nation at the point of the revolutionary war, to constantly FUCKING with each other.

  • "Become" divided? We haven't been united in any meaningful sense since the Federalist-Republican split in the 1790's. Except for a few brief periods like the Era of Good Feelings and maybe FDR's first term Americans have never had complete consensus on much anything.

  • the era of good feelings was an ironic name buddy, that was the point. It's not ment to be taken literally. I don't like partisan politics, but a president can't get anything done without them. (Jefferson Davis is but one example)

There is no such thing as complete consensus, a party alliance is the best you're gonna get.

  • It was hardly an "ironic" name when there was one political party and James Monroe ran for President completely unopposed.

  • He was more of a man then bush. Remember I was never Nixon fan.

  • ETericET

yeah but bush is not a MAN hes a stupid little boy

  • You forgot spoiled :)

  • Flawed but great.

  • The small criminals get long prison sentences, and the big criminals get awards, praise, pensions, and fame.

  • I don't think Bush would have much to say, he was just a puppet. What I would love to see is Cheney on the spot.

  • Or Rove or Rumsfeld. But maybe an interview like this with W. might make him start crying and say it was all Cheney's fault.

  • true

  • I doubt it. Bush is a freaking psychopath. He must be to have so much blood on his hands and still be able to live.

  • Do you think Bush might just have been Cheney's pupet? A part of me say's maybe, but most of me say's it was all Bush.

  • I think Cheney and Rove may have manipulated him somewhat, but I agree that Bush knew what was what and was the boss when it came down to it.

  • Wow, that's the first time I've seen this. This man sure had a dark soul.

  • the things this guy did are nothing on what george bush has done

  • he came from a working class background, maybe that had something to do with his downfall

  • He was wrong about this there was a big conspiracy the CIA/KGB Mullen company and the fascist demohacks including that whore Dean who organized and setup everybody involved.

  • Wow so many comments even till this day, lets stop posting hateful comments to this man, yes he did do dirty things that's really unacceptable and he deeply regret it, but once he realized he shouldn't have done it it's already too late and there's no possible way of recovering, he made one mistake, we should forgive him, after all, being president is not easy and he did try, why did he do those wrong things? The motive was trying to be a good president anyway.

  • Exactly, he's in hell now. Let the man burn in peace.

  • I totaly agree and like i have said in other comments i give more repect to nixon over the crap kennedy and cliton did

  • A disturbed and complicated man for disturbed and complicated times who had a disturbed and complicated life which resulted in an disturbed and complicated downfall.

  • FROST RULES...

Nixon - president (Tricky Dicky) ..

Poor and shameful days for USA.

But Lyndon B. Johnson was a tricky pussy .. Simultaneously, he greatly escalated direct American involvement in the Vietnam War.

    What a two bastards!

  • Government's fault for giving a man such power.

  • You talking about Nixon? I thought the American people voted him in.

  • all these comments are like 1 -2 paragraphs long. haha its crazy.

  • He was a horrible person and he didn't know it until it was too late... even then he didn't truly regret it!

  • The man put this country through hell, he had the power to stop it, he didn't stop it and some of the comments here are praising Nixon for "coming clean."

    Congratulations, universe. You win.

  • people...do you see the president's of argentina? the best corrupted in the world,alejo-from argentina

  • Respect given where respect is due. At least he was man enough to be honest on that part about he would have done the same thing if he had the opportunity. Watch 'Fog Of War' about Robert MacNamara and his time as Secretary of Defence. Will we see in 20 years time Mea Culpa or interviews with current leaders about their time in office???

  • He wasn't man enough. The confession was tricked/pulled/won out of him, and once that was done, he spilled it out. Kinda like when any other criminal confesses.

  • So you're not a big believer in people being honest, huh?

  • You know, I don't believe Nixon was the best president, but I respect him so much for admiting that he brought himself down and that he did something wrong.

  • I agree to a certain extent. Takes a man to admit when he did wrong. Although it did take him a while to admit it and only after he was pardoned, does take something away from it. You know you will never get anything like that from the corporate slime that was Bush administration.

  • I think for all the "apology" he gave which wasn't much, he still didn't truly feel like he did anything wrong. The entire I gave them the sword is like saying "well I'm sorry I was caught."The fact that he truly believed he had the best interest in mind is what is so scary.Citizens should be worried when someone of such power spies on them for their personal beliefs of right and wrong; scary thought! He watched so many people take a hard fall for him and this is all he can give those people; SAD

  • especially if you watch the resignation tape bloopers. He was laughing and joking just moments before addressing the nation

  • bloopers?im sure thats what they call them....

  • Takes a real man to do that.

  • Yep...that kind of accountability doesn't exist in American presidents anymore. They blame the guy before them and the other political party.

  • I just watched the movie for the first time and have been relatively ignorant to the facts surrounding watergate. but I mentioned to my brother before I watched it,"there is a good chance that someone as his advisor proposed the idea, got him into it, all the while taped him, just to set him up. Once all was said and done, there would be too much evidence for him to deny what happened." What he did was wrong, but the opportunity to do so was propagated by his own staff to create his downfall.

  • Nixon, did many good things. He abused his powers and should have stood trial. You cannot tolerate one breech of power, even if it is in the name of the Greater Good. Because there might be a time where someone not-so-benevolent tries to exploit the same loophole.

Also, Nixon's tax rate was higher than President Obama.

    Income tax% on rich:

    Nixon 77%-70%

    Obama 37%

As a matter of fact, Regan had a rate of 49%-%50

Hell, Dwight D Eisenhower, REPUBLICAN had a 91%, wait let me repeat, 91% tax rate

  • Comment removed

  • Those were the tax rates of the top tax brackets during their presidential terms. Of course no one ACTUALLY paid Eisenhower's 91% (Due to Write-offs etc.) But if we taxed the rich like Ike (Write-offs included), he we would collect 248 BILLION dollars extra , per year. That was half the deficit on 2007. Now, 91% is high, too high for my tastes.

Marginal Tax has nothing to do with it when I'm talking about one SPECIFIC tax bracket.

  • Nixon messed up the dollar (end of Bretton-Woods) and healthcare (HMOs)

  • go fuck yourself

  • you cant just pullout of a war as you will cause a collapse of goverment in that country lose your credability as a nation which is tarnished from the bush administration and you cant compare obama to Nixon as he has not broken the law hw has been drawing up planes to end the war. but you are not fighting an enemey that will just let you leave. the vienamese where a formal goverment the taliban, al Quieda are not you cant broker peace and they will continue to fight even if you dont

  • Uh, the Veit Cong were mostly Guerrilla Fighters. We beat most of the main army early on in the war. Iraq is shamelessly close to Vietnam. (except even I admit, Iraq is more stable than Vietnam ever was)

The point is, we must not forget that Guerrilla wars are VERY hard to win,(you have to be on wonderful terms with the citizens)

Matter of fact, WE( The U.S) used early Guerrilla warfare tactics to beat the British. Read history, you'll learn a bunch.

  • true but you alreay where a stable goverment the 13 colonies which was a protectrate nation of britan. so it cant be compared to vietnam and iraq. as the rebles where behined a goverment system that could easly be adapted to a formal independent goverment. you also where aided by french armys in the north + b the british army in america wasnt that large nor did we fight hard for it once the french bloked our trade roots from main land america we just left.

  • The stable government is a valid point, that does differ the success rate quite a bit. And no, Vietnam and Iraq so not have as stable of a government as we did.

However in the Vietnam war (and Korea) VC did have Chinese and Cambodian support. (Although China wasn't physically involved in 'Nam, you can bet they had arms there.)

The point is, the fighting style used not the politics behind them. Hit and run on a huge army is the only way they could have won. Good points though. I like Rhetoric.
