@farah46966 If I had to guess, it was at the tail end of an interview with VPRO in the Netherlands at whatever hotel he was staying at while he was in town (guessing Amsterdam or Rotterdam). They talked him into playing a song and the elevator was the best place to record it. Elevators are like a vocal booth if you don't mind a little bit of ambient noise.

@macklilly he messes them up slightly in the beginning.  he says "i found you, parents wanton", and the line is usually "you come from parents wanton". its a tiny error thats hard to even notice, and i think it adds to colin's awesomeness. he's so adorable. plus it's his song so he can sing whatever he wants haha

Many fans debate whether the woman in the song has actually consented to the relationship/suicide (mostly drawing from the lines "I laid you down in the grass of a clearing/You wept, but your soul was willing"). Judging from the dark nature of most of Colin's songs as well as the prevalence of the rape theme, I find it likely that the woman had little choice.
