Looked into study more.. it splits out church donations, but I'm not clear if the non-church donations include donations through churches that aren't targeted directly to the the church.
I'm troubled by the claims they make about income distribution. Seems a lot of innuendo at play.
I'm not saying I totally dismiss study.. but I've got issues with the methodology.
Do people think, 1). that God wants people to go it alone in the world and try and make it big, or 2. That we all work together in the pursuit of wealth and happyness. Now liberals will answer number 2 and I betcha all Republican will say number 1.
Your on the wrong thread investwrong. And your intellect is mind boggling."lesbian Cunt"? You are going to get squashed as America moves forward and out of the dark ages that you find yourself wallowing in.
Investwrong lost his ass in the rebub market crash and wishes to take it out on anyone other than a bible thumping jesus freak such as himself. Re-read and re-think before your reply, WWJD. It's there to remind you of what you have obviously forgotten.
Investrite1: you are one EVIL son of a bitch, Fuck off! I really wish we could split the world in two, all you selfish cunts on one side and all the compassionate people on the other! Oh hold on, there already is a split and it happens when we die, one place is called Hell and the other is called Heaven, so carry on Investrite1 cos when you die I know your going to HELL!
Its meant different things at different times, the current mantle of the those that by and large claim it is not classical liberalism.
The word liberal should not be a pejorative but unfortunately the stigma it has garnered is not simply the work of partisanship by both equally yoked incompetents but the product of it being hijacked by an element of the spectrum that is more authoritarian and statist than any true liberal would dare conceive...
...Liberal does not necessitate libertine but the loudest voice of the modern Democratic Party, which mind you i am willing to differentiate from a political persuasion, is a platitude speaking farce just like their partisan opponents.
Most Americans are not either or but a conglomeration of many. Conservatives are economic liberals and in that regard more in line with traditional liberal views. ..
I'm uncomfortable with governemnt controlled healthcare, not against reforms, i would like to a see thoughtful and pertinent audits on some expenses and crack down on tort. But the chief fallacy many perpetuate is that corporations are evil and the government is benevolent and that is a really misguided notion. The free market is a far greater watchdog than Capitol Hill.
It's not government controlled health care, most of us are supporting something akin to medicare, but expanded to cover more Americans. Rather than an insurance company paying the bills, Medicare pays the Dr. Something that has worked well for million upon millions of seniors.
As for the "free market" being a watch dog, we tried that already and it failed. Both in health care and in the world of finance. We need vigorous oversight and regulation in both areas.
Medicare is a really shoddy system itself, just because it exists doesn't make it good and this system actually saps away from existing medicare so it will cause problems across the board.
what we have now IS NOT WORKING. 50 million people cannot get care and that is morally wrong. End of story.
Insurance companies should not profit from denying people care, kicking people to the curb or flat out keeping people from getting insurance. It's repugnant, and it makes the US partially repugnant for allowing it to continue without slapping the shit out of the insurance company scum at the least. They are taking money and NOT providing a service and it's killing people.
Not end of story, that's lazy and absurd. As poor college student I payed for private insurance and took care of myself. If a part time working collegiate pauper can do it anyone can, its called prioritizing and stewarding your money. Turn off the basic cable, quit eating out all the time, take care of yourself and budget money for relatively affordable base coverage. Period.
You were one of those that were not denied insurance. What do we do for people that cannot get it? I have a very healthy friend that cannot get coverage as a self employed person for the sole reason that he has asthma as a kid 25 years ago.
What about all the people that get kicked off their insurance after they get cancer? What about all the people that regularly have care denied to them? It's wrong and you are wrong. End of story.
You paint in broad strokes, no doubt there are case issues but by and large discerning practice is completely justified as people don't take preventative measures to take care of themselves, you wouldn't wreck your car then get insurance and expect them to pay for it yet people are willing to do that with their bodies.
Taxing the half of the country that actually pays taxes to pay for the lahf that don't to to have an already accessible form of coverage is ludicrous.
blah, blah, blah. Same old republican bs. Where was the outrage for sending billions of dollars in cash to contractors in Iraq that didn't do anything but take the money and thumb their noses at the taxpayer?
There are millions and millions of working class Americans that cannot get health insurance and cannot get care because of insurance company scum that put people over profits. They are evil pieces of useless shit. Every civilized country has better care than the US and single payer.
Same dismissive and intellectually incurious tripe of your stripe, eager to paint platitudes and not investigate the absolutely horrendous track record of statism, sorry you don't know how to live within your means but I'm not going to pay for your sluggish sloth.
Every civilized country has better care than the US and single payer. One day we will get there. Just remember that those of us that are progressive have always been on the right side of history. Against the Iraq war, Vietnam war, racism and sexism. We supported workers rights, clean air and clean water.
Regressives and uneducated rubes are always a step behind real progress in this great country. Evidenced by working people standing up to protect insurance company profits in protest..
There's an articel out just today showing what distortion revenue for insurance has been, the US has the best medical practitioners and medicine in the world because or private enterprise, costs are high because of frivolous tort, fraud and ultimately you get what you pay for
You speak ij platitudes and not economic realities, you puff your chest with unsubstantiated hubris and lazy labeling as well.
If you want a British smile, subpar care and lines move, in the US things will remain private
youtube John Stossel's "Give Me A Break" and please give us all a break, he blows the faced of all the whole statist scam.
So save me the bleeding heart soap box, conservatives are statistically the most charitable givers in the country, polling indicates they do not view their taxes as charity while the opposite ideology does and gives less than half of annual contributions.
You also neglect to mention Democrats started Vietnam, conservatives were isolationist. Obama owns these wars too.
I didn't note republican or democrat, I noted regressives and progressives. Big difference.
"Conservatives" give money to big churches, not real charities, though I never brought up charities.
As for polling since you brought that up, find a poll from a country that has single payer that shows people would rather have what we have. Have fun finding that.
More platitudes and hubris, find a poll that says they wouldn't prefer American healthcare, rationalize why the world flocks to american med schools and to work for american researchers.
Do try to speak beyond the bounds of hubris, conjecture and strawman arguments in the future; its boring and trite.

Oh the republicans definitely found someone to run against Grayson. Grayson got his ass handed to him.

i hate to intrude but that seems like a platitude, a bit of a strawman argument to assert someone hateful for being weary of government intrusion.
