Bhagatsingh81, you seem to Distort the Fact. Except Tamilnadu Politicians, No One told water Supply will be stopped. All know Water Supply will Continue. What is the issue? The Real issue is; Tamilnadu wants to possess the Land of Kerala Leased to Tamilnadu, for which Kerala disagrees.

The workers failed to obtain ‘surki,’ used to bind the stones of the dam. This reflects on the degradation of the surki. Only stone could be collected after a week of drilling. Summary is that Surki is totally missing in structure of dam.

i have a suggestion given by keralite.. instead of constructing new dam v can dig a new tunnel a little deep than the old one and it is more cheaper than a new dam.. then water level decrease automatically.. but their govt wont allow it..they need electricity.. if they really think to have mutual benefit they should have announced it..

No comparison to Cuavery Water or Godavari Water dispute. Cuavery passes through Karnataka and Tamilnadu. Godavari passes through Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. But Mullaperiyar passes only through Kerala. Still Kerala says water will be given to Tamilnadu.Tamil Politicians say Kerala will stop water. Number of people belive it!

The KL Advocate council said a Max of 140ft Water level on the New Dam. When you said you are constructing a new dam why do you worry abt the ft on the new dam?

This issue in Kerala Arrised after the Iduki dam has been constructed, Water from Iduki dam in kerala is used to generate electricity. Keralite are not able to genarate the planned Watts from iduki dam. Because of Mulai periyar dam(Which is at higer level Geografically).. So they are lowering the Water in Mullai periyar dam.. So the Water level at Iduki raises and beniftit them. (Govt in Kerala using the Fears from you... This is a planned fear created by them)
MP dam is just 100 yrs old and has been strengthened due to KL request(Fear) and by Supreme Court order(After Investigations). The same SP court ordered to raise the Water lvl to 152ft after the Strengthening process. Did KL obeyed the Order?, Instead raised a new rule under KL Govt, that Only KL Govt will decide on the Water levels on dams in Kerala and no court can decide it. Then Why do you speak abt the democracy now??.

The ROV scan results projected deterioration at all 34 sections of the dam from erosion of lime surki mortar from the rubble joints; exposing huge voids, on upstream periphery.
The dam had undergone a crushing on account of the additional load of nearly 21.75 tons per feet applied on the top of the dam in the form of RCC capping as part of emergency strengthening measure. The pre-stressing done by cable anchoring through the upstream masonry portion might have loosened and damaged the masonry.
Times of India NEWS: Engineers of the Tamil Nadu government are fully aware of the dangers to the dam. Underwater visuals recorded by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) show a deep fracture along the entire 1,200 ft length of the dam's foundation. The dam has inclined inwards as a result. The visuals came from an inspection carried out by experts, including those from TN, for the high-power committee set up to look into stability of dam. ROV inspection began on March 5, and lasted nearly a month.
Natural calamities do not distinguish between the boundaries of states, because they are made by nature and not by people. Example is the sunami in which entire coastal areas of AP,TN,Kerala and Srilanka was affected. But man made calamities affect only one section of people. Mullaperiyar is going to be a man made calamity in which only people in Kerala are getting affected. Natural calamities are inevitable. But civilized people can take measures to avoid making calamities
May be we can state that Mullaperiyar is the strongest DAM in the world. Let the whole world know about engineering marvel done by TN engineers in repairing DAMs. However, the work is like applying external cosmetics to a heart patient in a beauty parlour. The weakest point of the dam is the bottom most point inside the water (maximum pressure) where lime and surky is in touch with water for the past 116 years. TN should have shown the underwater photos of this area also.

Supreme Court already declared the judgment about mullaperiyar dam. Kerala have to increase the water level from 136 feet. But Kerala doesn’t accept the Supreme Court order.
Construction of the Idukki dam in Kerala in 1973 for hydropower created an impetus to construct more dams d/s for power generation in Kerala. That is why the present agitation. Mild earthquakes started in the high ranges only after Idukki dam was constructed and started functioning.
I got the following comments on Mullaperiyar dam from a group called 'Kerala Sahitya Parishad, kolzikode' saying that Mullaperiyar dam is dangerously weak. If Dam breaks sceitifically it will take 4 hrs for the water to reach Idukki dam and by the time you can vacate some water from idukki dam and the dam will accomodate the water. Also water goes thru big pipes and takes the path of ghats and mountains where there is no inhabitation - then how will it kill so many people or how can you regard it as time bomb etc.

In idukki, tamils are only 28% of population.the badaga population are majority in the nilgiri dist.malayalis are majority in northern portion of kannyakumari dist and also gudalur,pandalur areas of nilgiri dist.but we don't want them.this is like you want a separate peelam in sri lanka where sinhalese 75%,moor 8% and tamils are only 14% of population.we are sizeable population in chennai,covai city and majority in nagercoil,gudalur,marthandam,kuzhithurai,thuckalay towns.

The workers failed to obtain ‘surki,’ used to bind the stones of the dam. This reflects on the degradation of the surki. Only stone could be collected after a week of drilling. Summary is that Surki is totally missing in structure of dam.

But you will not hear to any of those words and you belive to Build a new Dam.
KL now pleaded to reduce the Water level from 136ft to 120ft. But expert commitee taken the view that since the water level was decided by the Supreme Court, it could not take a decision to the contrary.
The Committee will again meet on January 24 and 25 to finalise the report.

This issue in Kerala Arrised after the Iduki dam has been constructed, Water from Iduki dam in kerala is used to generate electricity. Keralite are not able to genarate the planned Watts from iduki dam. Because of Mulai periyar dam(Which is at higer level Geografically).. So they are lowering the Water in Mullai periyar dam.. So the Water level at Iduki raises and beniftit them. (Govt in Kerala using the Fears from you... This is a planned fear created by them)

MP dam is just 100 yrs old and has been strengthened due to KL request(Fear) and by Supreme Court order(After Investigations). The same SP court ordered to raise the Water lvl to 152ft after the Strengthening process. Did KL obeyed the Order?, Instead raised a new rule under KL Govt, that Only KL Govt will decide on the Water levels on dams in Kerala and no court can decide it. Then Why do you speak abt the democracy now??.

The ROV scan results projected deterioration at all 34 sections of the dam from erosion of lime surki mortar from the rubble joints; exposing huge voids, on upstream periphery.
The dam had undergone a crushing on account of the additional load of nearly 21.75 tons per feet applied on the top of the dam in the form of RCC capping as part of emergency strengthening measure. The pre-stressing done by cable anchoring through the upstream masonry portion might have loosened and damaged the masonry.

Times of India NEWS: Engineers of the Tamil Nadu government are fully aware of the dangers to the dam. Underwater visuals recorded by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) show a deep fracture along the entire 1,200 ft length of the dam's foundation. The dam has inclined inwards as a result. The visuals came from an inspection carried out by experts, including those from TN, for the high-power committee set up to look into stability of dam. ROV inspection began on March 5, and lasted nearly a month.

Example is the sunami in which entire coastal areas of AP,TN,Kerala and Srilanka was affected. But man made calamities affect only one section of people. Mullaperiyar is going to be a man made calamity in which only people in Kerala are getting affected. Natural calamities are inevitable. May be we can state that Mullaperiyar is the strongest DAM in the world. Let the whole world know about engineering marvel done by TN engineers in repairing DAMs. However, the work is like applying external cosmetics to a heart patient in a beauty parlour. The weakest point of the dam is the bottom most point inside the water (maximum pressure) where lime and surky is in touch with water for the past 116 years. TN should have shown the underwater photos of this area also.

Supreme Court already declared the judgment about mullaperiyar dam. Kerala have to increase the water level from 136 feet. But Kerala doesn’t accept the Supreme Court order.

If Dam breaks sceitifically it will take 4 hrs for the water to reach Idukki dam and by the time you can vacate some water from idukki dam and the dam will accomodate the water. Also water goes thru big pipes and takes the path of ghats and mountains where there is no inhabitation - then how will it kill so many people or how can you regard it as time bomb etc.

@Malayalidravidan We’re ready to implement the Supreme Court order in koodankulam. First of all this is not a state government project, we will use 50% of electricity produced in koodankulam.
So we’re all having responsibility to implement the project. This is not only for tamil nadu government. Central government representative is continuously talking to them and it’ll be opened as soon as possible.
