It seems like SM Scouts don't get much credit. I am working on a small 500 point list and Scouts seem to be a great second troop choice. My list is just a captain, tactical squad, scout squad w/sniper and razorback. I want to get stuck in some battles to see how this works out.
Think outside the box and don't play in to the background story of space marines. This heroic stand on a hill or charging forward. The best thing a space marine player can do is not play like a space marine. Be proactive not reactive.
I've got to say you're playing your scouts wrong man. Devastators sat on an objective? Are you asking to get them pwned? How do you not have an option of placing them elsewhere in an objective based missions?
In all the scenarios you presented you're playing reactively which means your opponent is dictating the battle and he will probably end up winning. Especially if you've stacked your army on your objective in a capture and control mission.
I took a 5 man scout squad with my raven guard. Garunteed 1st turn assaults+tie up unit. They allow Shrike and his assualt squad to get into combat. This of coarse only works if I have the 1st turn. If 2nd turn then I just use them as a distraction. Scouts have many options though.
i was playing this one guy ina combat patrol mission for our club and in order to win the game he had to make it 6 inches to my scouts with wolf scouts. He rolled triple ones, assaulted my sternguard and got wiped out.
Hey mate, i noticed you used some Hirstarts blocks to make the cover you placed on the hill. They're awesome, I own 32 of bruces molds and have made some neat stuff. I'll be posting more vids soon of using those blocks if your interested. Cheers.
scouts = anti scatter units imo maybe monstrous creature killers if your good with rolls

pay for a melta bomb for the sarge, and you just might toast that dred'...
but i favor dred's so you gonna get RAPED XD

@eldergroan not a good idea. you can only hit a walker on 6 in close combat with grenades, if it is not stunned or immobilised.

that is true.
devistators should be able to fire at objectives from a range with a cover save.
on an abjective they become a easy target.

Awesome video, I never really take scouts with Dark angels because they are an elites choice but it gives me some nice ideas.
