  • Who arranged this book? It is a very good arrangement!

  • there are lots of video clips of this organ on our channel but as usual the fair organ enthusiasts won't bother watching them :(

  • @AuntieGavioli I've watched some of them, good videos.

  • @nickn5nl thanku so are yours

  • @AuntieGavioli Why do you say that, surely this organ is a fairground organ enthusiast's dream?

  • Marvellous! Does anyone has some information on or photosof the organ in its Belgian period (as I believe the remnants of this instrument were bought from Albert Becquart)?

  • @bietebouwer thats correct it was purchased by Albert Becquart, and was stored in the Becquart family depot. In 1966 it belonged to Pierre Janssens, one of Becquarts relatives, before being purchased by George Parmley. I don't know much about the organs use before that unfortunately.....

Sadly it has been much altered, its missing its top proscenium and much of the beautiful carved work was 'butchered' in an attempt to apparently increase volume.

  • @IanPostlethwaite Thanks for the info, Ian! I have no idea about the organ's prior use, alas ...

  • @bietebouwer Albert Bequart also owned the two Hooghuys organs at Thursford before George Cushing bought them.

  • @ceredigio Yes, i'm well aware of that: see my website hooghuys.com :)

  • great! you should check out our video of the organ and the others from the weekend!

  • @Totallyfairorgans I will do :) Thanks.

  • Very interesting. A valiant attempt to play the classics!

  • @balmesh Yes, it does a fairly good job considering. Another video I'll post tomorrow shows a far better organ (Duncan Mallows' Leach/Goodwin Concert Organ) for the job of playing classics...

  • To nickn5nl

Thanks very much - I'll look out for it.

  • @balmesh Here's a video of White's Mammoth Gavioli playing the same book of music at last year's Great Dorset Steam Fair...

    watch?v=AiWv3ZuscNo

I think it was supplied by Sounds Organised and is an arrangement either by Jan Kees de Ruijter or Tom Meijer

  • To Totallyfairorgans

Thanks for the thought, but I couldn't get anywhere with your link. Can you give the whole link or tell me what to search for?

  • @balmesh Hi, sorry but full links to other videos don't seem to be allowed by YouTube in these comments. This is as much as I can post. What you do is to remove everything up to youtube . com / in the address box at the top of the screen, then you copy and paste the bit I've posted above that starts with watch? after the / . Press the Enter key then you should see the video. If not search for musicmachinesuk and then look for their Whites Mammoth Gavioli video. Hope you get to see it!
