Quit slamming the 'other' just because it doesn't mesh w/ your beliefs? Dude... think about it --- either you believe something or you don't. If so, then presumably it's because you think it's true. Don't people say, "Be real. Be true to what you believe?" Well, does the guy believe the song is evil? Okay, then... so what's the problem with him being honest and saying so? The shoe is on the other foot. Stop slamming him for being honest! Quit being a hypocrite and do what you preach.
People find "evil" where they want to see it. Look hard enough, you'll find something. This song, however is not evil. And for that matter, even if the drumming is voudoun in nature, it's not evil. To each their own - but quit slamming 'other' just because it doesn't mesh w/your beliefs.
When I was probably about 13 I sat in the room with the drummer who listened to old tribal drumming albums (burundi and non burundi), picked off the bits he liked and recorded them on my mums little tape recorder....No tribes, no elders passing on stuff and definately no Satan....just a good ear for a good beat....sorry about that..........the tribesman obviously didn't have a lot to do with the music industry at that time.....Great song but the 12" version was much better
The drumbeats were lifted from a drumming tribe in Burundi. The beats are "supposed" to open a portal to let whatever spirit is called up into the soul of anyone listening to the beat. The tribesmen used it to get in contact with their elders who had passed on. Bow wow wow used it to conjure "satan". The tribesmen were pissed about that. :). either way, great track.
