Jerry did not form the Misfits. Glenn Danzig did in 1977 without Jerry in the original lineup (Diane DiPiazza! was the first bassist) Glenn wrote ALL the music and ALL the lyrics. Glenn ended the band in 1983. Yes in 95 Jerry "resurrected" the Newfits and has completely milked that to death while burning bridges with fans, band mates and even his own brother Doyle. He certainly was not a founder of THE LEGENDARY MISFITS.

Jerry was a key figure in the formation of The Misfits as we know today. Obviously Glenn wrote all the songs and did a lot of the hard work for the band. Jerry was there too though and also did a lot of work. Jerry's father bankrolled the touring for the band. A lot of the money Jerry and Doyle made working at the shop. I'm cutting him short here there's more than too. Consider all the creative energy he put into the band. A lot of the imagery for the band comes from Jerry.

@ranger89 wrong about the imagery, most of it is from old horror movie posters and such that glenn collected. jerry had no interest in horror or the occult, in fact he was a jock. the fact he and doyle worked at a machine shop and paid for instruments has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that glenn danzig is the founder of the band, and not jerry only. maybe if jerry took playing music seriously and wasn't a cokehead in the 80s, they wouldn't have broken up. but ya this is a waste of time.

Jerry had a lot of interest in horror, him and Doyle are lifelong fans of horror movies and Basil GoGo's artwork for Famous Monsters magazine. Jerry funded the Misfits by working in his dads shop, if he hadn't worked there then the Misfits likely wouldn't have been able to go on the road. Jerry was never a cokehead, haha.

@rottencorpsicle regardless of that fact, danzig still started the band. he is the original founder, he also wrote all of the material. the fact the OG lineup didn;t play live or record anything is meaningless, and doesn't debunk the fact that jerry only DID NOT start the misfits. danzig did, and that's a fact, i don't even see how it can be debated.

@ranger89 first of all, i was just stating that jerry only is NOT the founder of the misfits... because, he's not. glenn danzig is. danzig also wrote EVERYTHING for the band, and he formed it mon ths before jerry even joined... so, stating jerry is the founder of the band is simply factually incorrect. whether the original lineup did anything or not, DANZIG is the founder of the band, not jerry "only in it for the money". can someone please care to explain how jerry is actually the founder then?
