Nick Barker has always been my top extreme metal drummer, what he did with Dimmu Borgir seems to me the most intense metal drums ever recirded, but the albums had such dynamic contrast between power and subtlety. I was lucky enough to meet Nick at bloodstock festival last week and he is a really nice bloke. He was playing with ANATHEMA as a stand in.

barker's extreme style is almost incomparable to hellhammer's. i mean their both better than me, but barker definitely is the better drummer. puritanical euphoric misanthropia is by far the best album for drums i've ever heard. it features barker'd double bass more than just about anything, i think.

You cannot deny that Hellhammer's desplay of The Chosen legacy is jaw dropping, back breaking orgasmicness. I went out on the town with nick after testaments show in sydney earlier this year and yeh basically the whole commuting thing was what done it. It's a shame cause as much as i love hellhammer but nick i found to be a much more creative and tasteful drummer. He is playing on the new testament album. Released laster this year.
