JJ Cale gets this beautiful cry out of the guitar, the sort of thing that other guitarists use a wah wah pedal for, but I think he's getting it all with his fingers. Sounds so good.
well in today's politically correct world, one is not allowed to say that one race is any better or worse than another at anything. If you do, your a racist. Not that I actually agreed with your statement.
I don't think a whole lot of white dudes carry off the blues, but when they do, they own it. JJ is one of these guys (so is Roy Buchanan, tho Roy is heavier on guitar). I've never thought Clapton was a convincing blues guy -- really good, but not quite there when it comes to claiming the blues. Any comments?
His songs have been performed by a number of other musicians including "After Midnight" and "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton, "Bringing It Back" by Kansas, "Call Me the Breeze" and "I Got the Same Old Blues" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Travelin' Light" and "Ride Me High" by Widespread Panic.
THIRD - THANKS FOR HAVING A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR AND TAKING A SECOND LOOK AT MY POST!
I HAVE A DRY SENSE OF HUMOR AND PEOPLE DO AT TIMES GET 'PISSED OFF', WHICH OF COURSE IS FAR BETTER THAN GETTING 'PISSED ON' - WHICH IS USUALLY WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DARLINGS WHEN THEY ATTACK ME - ROFL!
J. J. CALE IS TOP NOTCH AND A GREAT SONG WRITER - HE SINGS AND PLAYS WELL TOO - COURSE, HE AIN'T NO MERLE HAGGARD - ROFL!
I drinik at a local tavern and I'll put this on the jukebox every so often and i love to see people get up and walk over to the box to see who it is, they think its Skynard first off but then they have to go and check it out, I love it.
well they call me the breeze... 2 much whoever put this on, i don't get to hear this anywhere much, but when i do get to play it, boy......u wanna see the ol' folks smiling and nodding!
jj's and lynyrds versions are two totally different approaches to a superb song, Both are equally brilliant in different ways , lets not bitch about brilliance

Notice how only the first verse actually rhymes, JJ's slang and accent disguised the rest. Brilliant!
