  • that is my dance groove shit!!!!!!! i would die if i made a party and everybody danced this fucking shittttt its toooo goood!!!!!!!

  • They dance funny :$

  • What a fantastic song! I just found out about this new band for me. I love the beat. It's a pity there is so little on the internet about this band. Can anyone tell me more about the footage in the clip? Is it from one of their live performances?

  • oh, yeah...pretty sure those kids want to...ya know...."do it".

  • It seems that I read a story on the internet 2-3 years ago that Lucky had killed himself but I can't confirm that. Gary P Nunn lives in Austin, Texas most likely. He played with Jerry Jeff Walker back in the late 70's or early 80's and the last time I saw him(Gary) was at a concert in Phoenix, Az. I will try to find out how to contact as I still know people in our hometown of Brownfield,Tx. Someone around there should know something. You could probably even find out through Austin City Limits.

  • @uzziburn yeah, i've always been surprised no one got round to a sparkles compilation, there's enough on the singles, maybe there's the odd out take laying around....

  • @uzziburn Lucky Floyd did definitely not kill himself. He is my grandfather and he lives in Dallas, TX with his wife Pam.

  • Just noticed you are in UK. 25 lb gave me a hint to look!! Don't even have a symbol on my keyboard for your money! The machine I looked at here was a very nice one @ $300.00. I didn't want to spend the money on it yet but may soon. I actually grew up with Gary P Nunn and the first time I saw he and the Sparkles play was at a local talent show at the high school. They were not competing. I was blown away as they were the first rock and roll band I ever saw live.

  • @uzziburn cool, you should have taken a few photos, band pictures are pretty scarce, any idea what they are up to now? i had a music journalist contact me last year trying to trace them for an interview....

  • If you happen upon one that would be great. I'd have to get a turntable myself as I don't even have one anymore. Best buy has a turntable to mp3 or iphone for $300.

  • @uzziburn yeah, you can actually buy turntables that convert to mp3 here for about £25, i just got in the habit of using this early sixties portable player, i should really invest in one...

  • No kidding, you got it?1!! They performed it at a Seagraves,Tx dance at the old roller skate rink that I went to and I haven't heard it since. About 1965 or so. Cool song.

    Want to sell it?

  • @uzziburn i have all the sparkles 45s, my copy of 'beanstalk' is good vinyl but there's stickers on the label, if i get a better copy i'll let you know......i could maybe get hold of a mic and record a copy but the quality won't be perfect......

  • Gary P Nunn would maybe be a good source for Lucky Floyd and the SPARKLES STUFF. He was in the band for awhile.

  • @uzziburn i have the 45 but i don't have facility for vinyl rip right now

  • Anyone got Jack and the Beanstalk with Lucky Floyd and the Sparkles???

  • love it <3

  • @lilymode you're welcome lily

  • Oh Girls was on The Purple Knif Show (Lux Interior's faux radio show compilation), but this rip is better quality.

  • dig the effects on the video

  • Hey, do you have any information on the Sparkles, in particular a discography? Or any place I could get an album? This is too good to leave undiscovered.

  • check on garage hangover web site

  • Thanks for the info, but it didn't help. Cheers though!

  • @urpinell That site is AWESOME

  • This guy blacflag should run for president. His taste is impeccable and he sets up groovy sound scenes for us geeters to warm our eyeballs. His vids are very well done and the obscure tracks are just so so soothing to the curious mind. Bravo!

  • oh my gosh this is out of sight! :D thanks so much for posting!

  • Incidently, I played in rock bands during the Sparkles most active period (in the same area) of Lubbock & Amarillo. I also write about West Texas music. I'll be glad to cooperate with anyone writing an article on my most favorite of the early West Texas rockers! Refer anyone to me that you wish.

  • ok cool, can you message me a contact email?

  • There is a photo in a college annual of the main group. It had several generations if you don't know. I can name the 'main players' of the mid-sixties.

  • you wouldn't happen to have a copy u can scan...its for a relative of a member...would be greatly appreciated

  • What label is 'The Hip' on, I wonder. Is it also on Hickory or more probably on AOK.

  • i have it on hickory

  • I knew most of the Sparkles! They came out of the Brownfield-Levelland area of Texas (near Lubbock). The singer on these two songs appears to be Harold 'Lucky' Floyd. The Hip is said to have been recorded in Odessa, Tx at Westex studio c.1965. Floyd was the drummer/singer and he could imitate ALL rock singers. You'll hear a little Orbison, Elvis & Holly in these two songs! They had 4-singles on Hickory about this same time. Disbanded in late sixties I think it was. I have more info, if asked.

  • really? i have a couple music journalists trying to trace members for articles...and a relative of one of the band members looking for group photos...any ideas???
