oh my god, i love this. this whole sequence was perfect, really showcasing the love triangle, the music is fantastic. one of the reasons why im a huge macross fan is cuz of the music. the last episode having the best sequence ever

@dundeecake I'm the same, I understand wanting Alto to end up with your fav female character, but really there is no reason to turn this into a fullout war between the two girls. You can see them talking peacefully to eachother throughout the anime and you can't feel any true hostility coming from Sheryl, she's even trying to push Ranka forward at times.
Alto did pick one in the novels (written by someone else) and it seemed like the logical outcome. Apparently the creator didn't complain.

@dundeecake There's a dicussion of the light novels on the forums of animesuki, where you'll be able to see some translated passages and comments from other fans. The novels themselves aren't translated yet, but I beleive someone is working on it. And it is an adaptation of the anime series, with some extra stuff.

@YingofDarkness Well actually in the novels, that's novels and not the short stories, Alto leans more towards Sheryl ... not that he didn't seem to lean more towards her in the series as well. They even sleep together in the novel.
Truth be told, I always did see the two having a more animated relationship. It was deeper and they had no problem expressing how annoyed they were with eachother sometimes haha. I kind of see Ranka as the little sister figure more. Alto is a very confused guy @.@
@DarkValkyrie I never read the novels and since they are in japanese I never will be able too, but I don't trust the people at AS 100% because they mostly only give summaries of the AruSherri parts they weren't created with any help from Kawamori at all and he created the series so to me it's not canon. Regardless though he still didn't pick anyone in them.
And this is where our opinions differ. I saw pity in Alto's actions in those latter episodes with Sheryl, and love when he was with Ranka.
@YingofDarkness But for the first half of the series you can see him spending more time with Sheryl, at times seeming like he sought her out. The more animated relationship comes from the teasing and small little arguments, Sheryl who's not afraid to try all sorts of crazy stuff and Alto that has to scold her about it or get frustrated. In the end he said both of them were his wings and like I said before the two girls have very distinct personalities
@DarkValkyrie 1-4 hes with Ranka, 7 and 9 he isn't with either? 5 it was the star date episode remember he TOLD Sheryl he didn't want to be around her, then she stole his charm, and then they went to the mall AFTER he sees Ranka getting into a train. episode 6 yes they did have a moment. episode 8 she guilt tripped him,they were apart until Sheryl jumps off a roof to get her panties and he saved her. Then she says its the same way they met and he says he wants to go back while looking miserable.
@DarkValkyrie When did it seem like he sought her out O_O? Alto is Sheryl's bodyguard. She does her job and is in interviews, commercials, and concerts where he isn't next to her. The one time we are shown what Alto is doing when with her is when she is hanging doing a commercial and he is far away near the fountain obviously on break, and then he looks and sounds annoyed when Sheryl calls him back. Alto looks to pissed during those arguments for me to think he LIKES arguing with her.
@YingofDarkness I like the girls more than I like Alto really. So don't care much about who's he going to end up with. For me, let it be undecided if that's what they want. Either way the series is still great amv material and you can do much with it xD
As for pity....not quite pity in my eyes and even still, pity is sorrow, regret at the suffering of another. If you care about the person, then without a doubt you'll feel sympathy, compassion, a kind concern due to the misfortune ...
@DarkValkyrie Alto looked sad,regretted not being able to help her, and he obviously cares about Sheryl I never said he didn't. He is shown caring about others as well though. Maybe had they not shown the pic of him with his mother that had died from an illness similar to how Sheryl was dying, or Klan hadn't been the reason he even went to visit Sheryl to begin the scene in 22 would have had more of an impact on me.
I'd like Alto to pick Ranka but if they sow both weddings. I'd be fine too.

Everytime I see this seen I laugh and at the same time pity Alto. He couldn't have a normal relationship. His love triangle involves 2 idols singing to him in that manner. I love it.

hoesntly. i think relaly sheryl has a good heart and really lieks him just doesnt know how to get him but being the way she is. but i do think ranka should get alto. but by the way atlo is i also think he doesnt dervse ranka. so its kidna hard ot say who he should be with on the toher side its the same with sheryl does he really dervse this girls? kinda hard for me to decide so righ tnow im on rankaxsheryl

@lilbonsly I can't understand why there are these shipwars going on. And I mean a TRAINGLE is connected everywhere. So that means Sheryl and Ranka hold eachother hands too. Otherwise it would be a V formation right?
The anime implies it and it just works in all ways.

@dundeecake I'm the same, I understand wanting Alto to end up with your fav female character, but really there is no reason to turn this into a fullout war between the two girls. You can see them talking peacefully to eachother throughout the anime and you can't feel any true hostility coming from Sheryl, she's even trying to push Ranka forward at times.
Alto did pick one in the novels (written by someone else) and it seemed like the logical outcome. Apparently the creator didn't complain.

Both Ranka and Sheryl have cute moments together. I can't imagine Alto would choose. I don't know why we are teached love is strong while we put these limits on it. >_<
I assume he picked Ranka in the novel? That'd be the most obvious one. (I don't think Ranka is strong enough to handle a turndown)

In the first part Alto visited Ranka at the hospital and stole a kiss from her
while she was sleeping. After sheryl called him to prepare diner and she seduce to go to bed with her whichhe did. He stayed with her keeping his promise to be with her BUT
On the second part he leaves the promise and goes to ranka and happily ever after yuhuuuuuuu

@misslaly219 Sounds...insulting towards Sheryl. Also sounds like bad fanfiction (but not that bad compared to what I have read) WTH is Ranka doing in a hospital anyways? Sheryl was the one being sickers, or at least she was in the anime. I dislike it if one would write about 'love' and 'love quarells' when they do not know the essence of love. Or at least its idealism.

They hospitalised her to make sure she didn't catch any disease or
something while beign with the vajraand remember that the novel takes off after the vajra defeat and if you read it closely you'll see that sheryl's action and movement are like that ,after that she realises what a horrible friend she has been with ranka while seeing alto meeting with ranka after getting out of the hospital [that passes after the sex part with altoxsheryl after meeting with ranka alto stays

@dundeecake There's a dicussion of the light novels on the forums of animesuki, where you'll be able to see some translated passages and comments from other fans. The novels themselves aren't translated yet, but I beleive someone is working on it. And it is an adaptation of the anime series, with some extra stuff.

@YingofDarkness Well actually in the novels, that's novels and not the short stories, Alto leans more towards Sheryl ... not that he didn't seem to lean more towards her in the series as well. They even sleep together in the novel.
Truth be told, I always did see the two having a more animated relationship. It was deeper and they had no problem expressing how annoyed they were with eachother sometimes haha. I kind of see Ranka as the little sister figure more. Alto is a very confused guy @.@

@DarkValkyrie I never read the novels and since they are in japanese I never will be able too, but I don't trust the people at AS 100% because they mostly only give summaries of the AruSherri parts they weren't created with any help from Kawamori at all and he created the series so to me it's not canon. Regardless though he still didn't pick anyone in them.
And this is where our opinions differ. I saw pity in Alto's actions in those latter episodes with Sheryl, and love when he was with Ranka.

@YingofDarkness But for the first half of the series you can see him spending more time with Sheryl, at times seeming like he sought her out. The more animated relationship comes from the teasing and small little arguments, Sheryl who's not afraid to try all sorts of crazy stuff and Alto that has to scold her about it or get frustrated. In the end he said both of them were his wings and like I said before the two girls have very distinct personalities
Sheryl is more mature and Ranka innocent.

@DarkValkyrie 1-4 hes with Ranka, 7 and 9 he isn't with either? 5 it was the star date episode remember he TOLD Sheryl he didn't want to be around her, then she stole his charm, and then they went to the mall AFTER he sees Ranka getting into a train. episode 6 yes they did have a moment. episode 8 she guilt tripped him,they were apart until Sheryl jumps off a roof to get her panties and he saved her. Then she says its the same way they met and he says he wants to go back while looking miserable.

@DarkValkyrie When did it seem like he sought her out O_O? Alto is Sheryl's bodyguard. She does her job and is in interviews, commercials, and concerts where he isn't next to her. The one time we are shown what Alto is doing when with her is when she is hanging doing a commercial and he is far away near the fountain obviously on break, and then he looks and sounds annoyed when Sheryl calls him back. Alto looks to pissed during those arguments for me to think he LIKES arguing with her.

@YingofDarkness I like the girls more than I like Alto really. So don't care much about who's he going to end up with. For me, let it be undecided if that's what they want. Either way the series is still great amv material and you can do much with it xD
As for pity....not quite pity in my eyes and even still, pity is sorrow, regret at the suffering of another. If you care about the person, then without a doubt you'll feel sympathy, compassion, a kind concern due to the misfortune ...

@DarkValkyrie Alto looked sad,regretted not being able to help her, and he obviously cares about Sheryl I never said he didn't. He is shown caring about others as well though. Maybe had they not shown the pic of him with his mother that had died from an illness similar to how Sheryl was dying, or Klan hadn't been the reason he even went to visit Sheryl to begin the scene in 22 would have had more of an impact on me.
I'd like Alto to pick Ranka but if they sow both weddings. I'd be fine too.
