Great--and pretty deep--song. BTW: This video was from "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert"! Anybody else remember staying up late into the next morning watching that show each week?
ahhhh, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert....The Midnight Special....American Bandstand.....sigh...I was up late the other night and was watching old Soul Train shows....but my nostalgia is always in overdrive...
I haven't heard this tune since it came out, and had forgotten about it after all these years. It's like hearing it for the first time and it's absolutely fantastic! It's like tasting a great piece of food you haven't tried in years. Thanks for the post! Glad I came across it.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
yeah this song is REALLY hittin' home for me right about now... WAS recently in a relationship that ABRUPTLY went south, dont know why how etc, everything seemed to be cool, nonetheless she's f%cking her boss, done met dude, befriended him, invited me over, all went out & had pizza one night with me, former b!tch, him & her neighbor that he screwed later that night... & then they do this... hurt for a few days but, tore my stomach up, oh well, chalk it up as a lesson learned, got caught slippin
I love reading all the comments... and yes this song is a classic from a great song writer, THANK GOD no one has attempted to re-make it(remaking music & movies is like crime... yes people can & will do it but not everyone will get away with it). I've liked this since I was a kid, it's really hittin' home for me right now,
You know, the sad thing is; I'm not sure this kind of song would even sniff the Top 40 these days, and it's for damn sure a guy who looks like Rupert would ever be allowed to make an accompanying video. Now, it's all about image. Please bring back talent.....
Heard over the radio whilst on hols in Wales. Waited in shop till the I heard the name, or course never happened, Got home looked at Radio 2 (Ken Bruce) playlist and found it. Absolutely love it.
Gotta love ya some Rupert Holmes don't cha? Great song and post! Miss this music so much, we all say it a lot in these forums, but the music of this era had soul....nobody can convince me that today's music delivers the same way. I doubt anyone will be sitting around in say, 30 years reminiscing about Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift, or any of these kids still trying to decide if they should shave, much less get their license! I'm just sayin'
I was walking through Kmart of all places this morning and heard this song. Thank you Kmart for reminding me of this completely awesome song. I've listened to this about 7 times in a row already!
I DARE some artist, say Justin Bieber (whatever) to pull this off today...He couldn't, NO artist from today could! I just got chills thinking how great this song is, & how this song is 31 years old, & I was only 8 when this came out!
Hot damn, I've found your video and I can actually see it. I don't know where you found this super clear version of "HIM" but it's as good or better than the one in the Time Life commercial. I had a version of this video in my favorite's, but You Tube dumped it. Something about copyrights. I've loved this song since it came out and I listened to it on my 80"s whole house 1000w stereo. And yes, I can relate personally to it and the lyric's. Wish I could find out more about Christine Faith.
this song is SIMPLY superb... the sensitive of a man in love but so aware of reality... we should all learn to be so .. open to what it is... on top of that the song is BEAUTY... the chords, the melody, the lyrics, the voice of mr, holmes, a real pleasure.THANX for uploading-
