  • walkin' backwards down the stairs.....tryn' to get higher.....how can I get anywheres?.........walkin' backwards...... down the stairs RIP Larry

  • This man communicated the gospel better than most and reached out to heathens like myself..but when I see people condemning and judging the man because of the length of his hair. it just puts me off Christianity..was what was interpreted as long hair in the 1970s trend the same as 2000 years ago? yous self righteous judgmental so called Christians do your cause more damage than good with your bullshit..does the bible not say God knows every hair on your head? that includes Larry's

  • @malcalena I'm a Christian and I agree with you completely!!

  • @malcalena Yup, bummer there are bad apples in every bunch. And perfect Christians wouldn't need Jesus. There will always be haters. I hope your heart heals, and that your heart opens to those Christians who love their Jesus and want personal relationship with Him. Many do embrace the idea that God does know every hair on your head - and are not quick to judge by appearances. Thank you for posting your thoughts and frustrations. Keep up the faith and good fight.

  • Does anyone have the Holy Soldier video of Why Don't You Look Into Jesus. I believe I saw it on here, but I can't find it. Larry Norman is the man, but I like the Holy Soldier version to.

  • Larry was the first artist I listened to after I came to Christ in 1981. I loved his music and message. Hey Jesus give Larry a hug and thank you from me.

  • I just read on Wikipedia that he wrote this song for Janis Joplin, I didn't know that.

  • At first I thought it was David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap... :D

  • @BDM55

    >>> for Larry Norman for now he spends eternity with his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How do you know this? Did you go visit him? Or did you read it in a book once? I read stuff in books all the time. Doesn't make any of it true.

  • I actually met the guy in the eighties playing the song on nothing but a classic guitar. I liked his tunes

. Albeit, didn't convert me. I pretty much did everything he alludes to in his lyrics and he is dead and I am alive. Jesus didn't pan out for him, I guess ...

  • @rernst2 - With due respect ... Jesus did indeed work out for Larry Norman for now he spends eternity with his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ... the words you chose are interesting -- here is what Revelation 3:1 has to say in response - It shows that a person can be "alive" when they are actually "dead:

"To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: 'I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.

  • Great stuff. Need to hear more of this stuff, check willann54 channel Miracle Prayer

  • In an interview, Larry said he wrote this song for Janis Joplin after she showed up backstage at one of his concerts.

  • The only way someone could give this a thumbs down is that if have such a powerful hatred for Christianity that they actively seek out Christian videos and give them thumbs up without actually watching them, for if this video was watched by even the most scathing critic they would instantly convert to Christianity and weep uncontrollably as they realized that they had lived even one day with out the awesomeness of Larry Norman and of course Jesus Christ.

  • You got gonnorhea on Valentine's Day. LOL

  • You got gonnorhea on Valentine's Day. LOL

  • You got gonnorhea on Valentine's Day. LOL

  • Mix Robert Plant + Mick Jagger plus a bit of Bob Dylan = Larry Norman!

  • I feel better when i listen to larrys music

  • Great song. Larry is still alive just like Jesus Christ.

  • Awesome

  • I heard him sing this in concert at Calvin college in 1979. I'll never forget it!

  • Spinal Tap must have found Jesus in prison.

  • I Corinthians 11:14 - "Does not nature itself tell you that long hair is shameful on men?" LOL

  • @179rich The Bible was written 2,000 years ago and ummm times have changed bro...Embrace it or kill yourself...:)

  • @179rich ah.......remember SAMSON ? , JESUS HIM SELF ? ah i think the BIBLE says in one of PAUL'S letters about the length of men and woman's hair.... that a " dude's " can be to the end of his NECK. a chick

because it is supposed to be a "head covering " for worship...can be to her shoulders.....or i think her waste!

remember the girls of the 70"S ? YEAH !! and..really...what's the "DEAL' about "HAIR" IT'S YOUR ILFE

AND SALVATION THAT COUNTS !! ROCK ON DUDE !!!!

  • What a very polite and restrained audience....lol!

  • Thanks for posting this...it's the first song I ever heard by Larry Norman many years ago, and I never forgot it. RIP, Jesus man!

  • Man he didn't sugar coat his songs. I can't wait till I get to jam with him and Kieth Green..............

  • @simickua I'll Be jammin with you all:) Praise JESUS!

  • wow.. haha he said gonereah.. lol

  • BadAss!

  • Larry...always ready to kick butt, but always focused on Jesus.

  • one of my favorite larry norman songs!

  • Been there, done that, got no where but almost in the grave. Jesus is the answer

  • Why is the volume so low?

  • UHF tv from the 70s. You're probably too young to remember uh? :)

  • Love the song. No one could shock and challenge Evangelicals in the 70s like Larry - with the possible exception of cable TV evangelist Dr. Gene Scott who smoked cigars from a big chair while asking for lots of money.

  • Larry shocked people rightly. Gene Scott didn't.

  • awhhh he is with JESUS NOW , he was awsome i saw him in person great guy very tellented

  • I know what you mean Toby, a large part of me died too.

  • People don't realize that when this song was released that you didn't talk about stuff like this in church. Listent to how straight ahead and powerful these lyrics are. Great stuff. Larry will be missed. Part of me died when he died.

  • Great!!!

  • great rythm i discover this singer in 2007 wow watta a great musician

  • Larry Norman was amazing. I love this song!

If you guys want some other good christian music, check out the band Within The Red. Their myspace is myspace/shawnbilton.

  • This song brings back an amusing memory for me. When I sang it I was too prudish to sing 'gonareah', let alone spell it, so in a rare inventive moment I substituted ' love sick' with a deliberate double meaning. RIP Larry.

  • Six o clock news did get on CD and I've seen a dex (but I have the CD so didn't download) so start looking

  • I have a song called "I am The Six O'Clock News" is that the same song you are looking for? If so I well post it. Let me know.

  • never mind, thanx

    it's already posted.

    enter

    larry norman six news

if anyone is looking for it on you tube.

  • Does anyone have "The Six O'Clock News" available to post?

I heard it 33 years ago, but not since. I've never seen it on a CD either.

  • It was from the recording "Only Visiting This Planet" - I had the original LP -was ahead of its time

  • He was great! God bless you Larry!

  • been there ...doner all that...Jesus truly has the answer...

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THIS

  • You got Ghoneria on Valentines day, you still looking for the perfect Lay...wow, what some Lyrics he had here!

    RIP...Larry.

  • wow the was painful, that hair is just awful

  • Back-up singers, YEAH! PRAISE GOD!

  • this song rocks.

  • You're right let's all listen to Freddy Mercury and Elton John.

  • No, I suggest Deicide, Dark Funeral, Slayer and Dark Funeral for instance.

  • Your telling me there are so few alternatives that you have to list "Dark Funeral" Twice?

  • Dark Funeral is twice as good.

  • you are so cool:s

  • wow you are so articulate! please explain what that word means and why you use it in this context, as I have never heard it before. YOU LOSER!

  • Hey,

I remember goin 2 c Larry N when I was visiting the UK in the early to mid 70's - my relatives lived there I was visitin from CT. Sur was a fine singer. PEACE Larry N.

  • respect for the man who started christian rock

  • melhor musica do larry norman pra mim! Sei que agora ele estar bem!

  • What a influence he was on us CHRISTIANS with a hippy background .GOD did't change our love for music with a rock beat. It drove older CHRISTIANS NUTS!

  • I was naive enough to think my little country church would be blessed by songs like this as I was .MAN,THE LOOKS I GOT WAS LIKE I WAS THE ANTI-CHRIST! HA!

  • what year is this???

  • The Rock Gospel Show was on in the 80's. That's as much as I can determine

  • He wrote this song about Janis Joplin

  • where did you hear that?

  • He announced it himself at Cornerstone 2000

  • Saw Larry at a "Jesus Concert" in central PA in the 70's. See you in heaven Larry.

    June in Boston

Your music rocked us the right way. I love Woman of God, UFO, Watch what your doing, Why Don't You Look Into Jesus, Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music and many more.

  • What an artist! What a song!

    R.I.P Larry.

    Goodbye, farewell, we'll meet again

    Somewhere beyond the sky.

I pray that you will stay with God

    Goodbye, my friends, goodbye.

  • End of the beginning...

It was tough covering some of your songs in church dude but really loved the looks we got..

  • Larry is singing with Delora and Roger now .

  • rest in peace Larry!

  • Gonnorheah on Valentines Day!

  • I know of many people, including some lifelong friends who were saved at Larry Norman/Randy Stonehill Concerts. One of those is already with the Lord.

    Thanks Larry.

  • Larry, my dear beloved brother in the Lord Jesus Christ! "Goodbye Farewell -- We'll Meet Again."

"Be aware of the time passing by,

they say the end it's the wink of an eye!"

  • Remembering Larry Norman "Jesus Movement" Poet & Musician 1947- 2008 "Christ is the most bountiful physician. Christ elevates all his patients:

he doth not only cure them, but crown them (Rev. 2:10).

    Christ doth not only raise them from the bed, but to the throne;

he gives the sick man not only health, but also heaven." from Thomas Watson 1620 - 1686

  • I would have to say Larry Norman was such a huge influence on so many musicians. He is going to missed.

  • See you soon Larry.

  • The only 'Christian artist' of the early 70s whose music sent a shiver down my spine. He may only have visited this planet - but his footprints are all over it. Now he's disappeared and we're left standing still...

  • Excellent comment. The words in his music are so pure, yet profound, with a very simple direct message that spoke to the heart. I met him, prayed with him and will never forget this man. Today he rests with the Savior in heaven. No more pain, just eternal bliss.

  • Rest in peace, brother...you will be missed.

  • God rolled away Larry's stone intriguingly on a Sunday, just this last week. Thank God for his pioneering witness in the arts (music) and as part of the revival called the 'Jesus Movement'.

I have a tribute to him posted on my facebook.

  • Saw you in 84 it was a geart show see you in heaven with Jesus.

    Gal. 2:20

  • Larry norman was a big influence in me getting Born again. I can't believe he's gone. But I am positive that Jesus embraced him and said "Well done, good and faithful servant." This man has been through so much! I can't wait to see him when I get there!!!

  • Rest in Peace, Larry

  • Larry turned alot a people to Jesus! He is singing with Delora and Roger now .

  • I don't know who Delora and Roger are but I bet he is Jamming with John Linn!!!

  • Larry was a major reason I came to faith in Jesus. I used to sneak in and listen to his albums when my Christian friends weren't around. His forthright lyrics cut across my 20-something smugness and challenged my soul to listen for truth. God bless his memory!

  • Larry went to be with his Lord today 2/24/2008. God Bless you Larry.

  • man I'm old ...I got into this guy in the 70's

Radical was the way back then and should still be now. Where is the Larrys of today we need some more

  • Love this I never thought I would ever hear this again its been a long time .

  • What a great song. It's too bad so many of us have forgotten about Larry's music. It's time for a revival.

  • Larry Norman lives in Salem, Oregon, which is the town I live in, anyway Larry Rocks!!

  • Paul McCartney thought Larry was a great musician also

  • Anyone know who's in the band? This is a really nice arrangement of this song.

  • Looks like a swedish(?) band Q-Stone

  • Larry you stil ROCK DUDE! You stood ,,when no one else would! Stand!

  • yeah, that's true... I always kind of felt like Larry was a John-the-Baptist for the 20th century. (and now the 21st!!)

  • agree!!!!!completely I s lucky to discover his music at 13..I loved it!

  • A classic tune, even the secular musicians say he would have dominated the 70s if he had sold out for a record contract and sang secular music. But he didn't.

  • awesome tune......

  • take Inositol, Larry it'll clear your forehead.

  • This man started it all! Did it when there was no market and just like Jesus, Larry's biggest opposition was the church. The Grandfather of Christian Rock!

  • Wow, awesome post! Larry Norman is awesome!

  • no wonder they make fun of us...

  • speak for yourself bro.

I've heard testimonies from many older folks who Larry led toward Christ's way.

  • I can vouch for that. Larry and keith Green influenced me more than my parents.

  • Great to actually see the man himself. Thanks for the blessing and inspiration Larry. Rock on. W.O.Moss

  • muy buen video hermanito...grax

  • Larry's the man!

    -Rocky James

  • who is the band here??

  • Looks like it could be a house band. I don't see Charley. The drummer looks like Stewart Copeland :)

  • I've listened to him for years but never seen a moving picture of him until youtube.

This one was always a favourite.

  • Love Larry. No one like him. Blessings Larry, stay well!

  • God bless Larry Norman. He is in poor health, but still rockin' and righteous! Check out his website: LarryNorman --I hope we'll all be ready!

  • Excellent, thanks for posting this, and also for the comment about who this was originally written for. Hard to believe Larry is 60 now. I loved this music when I was a kid, such different times yet not so different, seems like our problems never go away, Jesus is the answer.

  • how old is larry 70 ?

  • Yes, RockyArch - Lets HEAR this great music and praise God that someone (Larry) got the gift that he did - and is still using it for the kingdom! I LOVE that music and his lyrics really moves me again and again. Bless!

  • Thanks for this, I just signed up and am a "player'. Larry has been on my mind and'heart' lately. How 'bout if everyone just 'hears' (not just listen) this great and still relevant music and quits with the trivia. Larry is it and lets thank God that we can do this and support him while he is still visiting this planet.

  • I was at his concert in OR in August, and he said he wrote this song about Janis Joplin. Just a little FYI for ya. He & Elvis were inducted to the Gospel HOF on the same ballot, same year.

  • Thanks for posting this. This video was my first introduction to Larry Norman. This is awesome stuff. Funky beat, awesome lyrics and vocals. I dig it a lot!!

  • the great grandfather of ccm. thanks and god bless

  • ccm? **cringe** oh god please don't say that. he's much better than that. larry's an original

  • Hey Kermit, This is a lot older than 15 years.

And yes he's alive but has had 7 heart attacks and will not tour, he will be 60 years old 4/20/07 and is doing some local stuff in oregon

  • Larry Norman is on tour now in Europe. Check his website for the itinerary.

  • He's alive, but not touring, he has had several heart attacks and will be 60 years old 4/20/07, he is only doing local shows in Oregon and hey Kermit this is a lot older than 15 years ago.

  • There is a rumor going around that Larry has died. Larry has not passed away, folks. I just spoke with Larry's brother Charles and Larry is alive. And is actually is doing better. So well that he has scheduled an upcoming European tour.

So please, let's not spread this rumor.

    Thanks,

    sd

  • simply the best!

  • I wish the audio level were a bit stronger, but otherwise, this is excellent.

  • Larry Norman was and is simply fantastic. I saw him live in Winnipeg around 1992. He must be considered the godfather of Christian rock -- but can't be held responsible for what happened with CCM music.

  • Would love to see more Rock Gospel Show clips!!! I never got to see this show as I lived in the US, but always heard about it!

  • yep - shame this wasn't recorded 15 or so years earlier.

Those purple-shirted backing singers and TOTP stage isnt what Larry was about ....but any Larry on YouTube is better than none...

  • An amazing song from an amazing man at his prime. Thanks for sharing.

  • Absolutely Brlliant . Larry Norman is without doubt one of this worlds most gifted and talented musicians.Best of all he's a christian who gives it all to the lord. Amen. - from the Plats in Australia

  • Amazing music, amazing man - I think most people really have missed his message, He have been writing beautiful songs for soon 50 years and still the christians are more or less rejecting his message.

  • Cool!
